Chapter 717: Until Death
"Alright, I’ll go with you."
Kong Lingwen nodded. She knew that Yang Cheng had his reasons for every decision he made, and all she needed to do was trust him.
"By the way, have you contacted Uncle Kong? How is he now?"
Yang Cheng asked.
"He and Grandpa are both safe, but the Kong Family Villa is not safe anymore. Aunty Ni and Kong Lingchuan are both living there, and I’m a bit worried."
Kong Lingwen might have spoken ill of Kong Lingchuan, but he was still her brother, and she couldn’t just watch him get killed.
"I’ll have someone escort Aunty Ni away first, and as for Kong Lingchuan, he should come with us. He’s a man of the Kong family, and he can’t always hide behind. He needs to learn to face risks too."
Just as Yang Cheng finished speaking, Kong Lingwen’s phone rang.
She raised her hand to hang up, but the phone rang again soon after, as if refusing to relent.
"Answer it; it should be Cao Ruibin calling."
Yang Cheng said.
Kong Lingwen nodded. As soon as she answered, Cao Ruibin’s voice came through: "Kong Lingwen, I advise you not to push things too far. Your father is dead now, what kind of waves can you a woman make!"
"After all, I am Ling Chuan’s uncle. I won’t push things too far. As long as you hand over the Kong family’s resources and promise not to fight the Cao family, I’ll give you fifty billion at once. You and your brother can live a carefree life with that money; there’s no need to burden yourself managing the Kong family."
Upon hearing this, Kong Lingwen sneered, "You advise me not to push things too far, yet what have you done? You incited Kong Lingchuan to turn against his own father, all while claiming to be his uncle. You’d damn him to ruin!"
"Now that my father is gone, I have nothing left to care for. If I lose, it’s just my life anyway. But even if I lose, I’ll still take a pound of flesh from you and your son!"
"Little girl, I’ve already been very generous by offering fifty billion. Don’t be ungrateful. Take the money, give your father a grand funeral, and leave Zhonghai. If you continue to tangle with us, you and your brother will die!"
Cao Ruibin spoke through gritted teeth, his voice full of malice.
"The outcome is not yet decided. Who can say for sure! We’ll fight to the end!"
After Kong Lingwen finished speaking, she abruptly hung up the phone, unwilling to have any further entanglement with him.
Yang Cheng extended his arms and gently pulled her into his embrace, resting his chin on her forehead to comfort her: "Don’t be afraid; I’m here for everything."
Feeling the warmth of his embrace, Kong Lingwen wrapped her arms around him tightly.
"Ahem, ahem..."
At this moment, Gao Peng’s cough came from nearby. He looked awkward, smiling embarrassedly, "You two, quit showing off your love. I’m still here!"
Yang Cheng shot him a cold glance and then lowered his head to look at Kong Lingwen, speaking gently, "Lingwen, let’s go home first. We’ll find someone to escort Aunty Ni away and then go together to meet that Weapon Master."
The reason for crafting weapons during this critical period was because he anticipated a tough battle ahead.
The three of them left Yunmei Company and hurriedly headed towards the Kong Family Villa.
On the way, a sudden thought struck Yang Cheng’s mind—Cheng Qiyue and Cheng Ruonan. Although the two were not as strong as him, they were still quite capable, more than enough to deal with the Cao family’s thugs.
He quickly took out his phone and dialed Cheng Ruonan’s number.
Soon, the call connected, and Cheng Ruonan’s voice was filled with delight, "Yang Cheng, you finally remembered to call me. I’ve been trying to reach you recently, but couldn’t get through. Where have you been?"
Her voice was sweet and carried a bit of complaint, coming through the phone.
Listening to this charming voice, Gao Peng felt his bones nearly melted away. She must be a stunning beauty.
Kong Lingwen beside him was feeling a bit sour, glaring at Yang Cheng unhappily.
Feeling her intense gaze, Yang Cheng smiled helplessly before saying, "I went to Luochuan for Aunty Ni’s treatment. I just got back a couple of days ago. Where are you and Ms. Qi Yue now?"
"My sister and I have been investigating our parents’ enemies, and we’re finally getting some clues. But as soon as we traced back to Zhonghai, the trail went cold."
Talking about this, Cheng Ruonan’s voice was filled with disappointment.
Previously, during her time with the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect, she had used their resources to investigate but only gathered some vague information.
After all those years of effort, the sudden termination of the lead left both her and her sister feeling immensely frustrated.
"I’m also in Zhonghai. Come find me; I need your help with something. Once it’s resolved, I’ll help you with your investigation."
Yang Cheng didn’t expect them to be in Zhonghai as well, which saved a lot of trouble.
"Alright! Send me the address; we’ll be right over!"
Cheng Ruonan was elated, hanging up and promptly taking Cheng Qiyue along, rushing to the Kong Family Villa.
Meanwhile, at the Cao Family Villa.
Cao Ruibin’s face was profoundly grim. He thought offering fifty billion was quite sincere, yet Kong Lingwen directly stated she would fight to the end with him.
"Foolish! She can’t possibly win, and once caught, she’d find even dying a luxury as they’d imprison and humiliate her."
"Just like Kong Jingshan’s stubbornness, if she doesn’t know her place, she can’t blame me for being ruthless!"
At this moment, the butler approached, speaking quietly, "Family Head, what about the young master? It’s said that the police have quite a bit of evidence, enough to convict."
"Then find a way to destroy the evidence! I only have one son; he absolutely cannot get into trouble."
Cao Ruibin gritted his teeth.
He had many children, but they were all daughters except for Cao Zhihao, his only son.
Initially, he didn’t want to register the Jile Clubhouse in his son’s name, but the influential person refused, leaving him without choice.
Now that trouble had arisen, his son did get caught. If all those charges fell on him alone, even if he didn’t die, he’d probably spend the rest of his life in prison.
Thinking of this, Cao Ruibin could no longer stay calm. He dialed the mysterious number.
After several rings, the call connected, and he cautiously spoke, "Sir, my son has been arrested. Do you have any way to rescue him?"
"I do, but you need to do something for me first. Once it’s done, I guarantee Cao Zhihao’s safety."
The man’s voice was calm yet exerted an invisible pressure.
"What is it?"
Cao Ruibin had a foreboding feeling, his heart rising. Whatever the other party needed him to do, it wouldn’t be easy.
"Kill Kong Jingshan."
This statement left Cao Ruibin stunned, wondering aloud, "Isn’t Kong Jingshan already dead?"
"He’s not dead, just in hiding. Your dear nephew deceived you."
The man’s tone carried a hint of mockery, leaving Cao Ruibin’s mind buzzing.
