Chapter 746: Patience in Small Matters, Achieves Great Plans
"Mr. Gong, you’re here on business too?"
Yang Cheng smiled as he spoke, worried that Kong Lingwen might lose control of her emotions and alert the enemy, so he stepped forward, blocking her face while reaching out to Gong Jian.
Gong Jian was equally enthusiastic, shook his hand, and smiled, "Jianhua Pharmaceutical is launching a new drug, and I’m here to check the test results. You’re here to deliver samples, right?"
Yang Cheng nodded, unable to resist a satirical tone, "Mr. Gong still has influence. As soon as you appear, you get the test results. We have to wait a month."
Gong Jian appeared indifferent and laughed, "I’m quite familiar with the director. Shall I give you a word to..."
"No need, they’re all snobs. I don’t believe they can keep delaying forever."
Before he finished, Kong Lingwen angrily interrupted.
"Yang Cheng, let’s go!"
She really didn’t want to see Gong Jian’s hypocritical face, so she vented her anger at the people at the pharmaceutical supervision bureau and quickly left with Yang Cheng.
"Sorry, Mr. Gong, Lin Wen has a bad temper, so we’ll go now."
Yang Cheng explained briefly and followed Kong Lingwen outside, holding her shoulder and comforting her quietly.
"The head of the Kong Family is dead, yet Kong Lingwen dares to be so arrogant. She’s truly overestimating herself!"
Gong Group’s Vice President Gong Jun spoke with displeasure, his eyes full of disdain.
"What can a woman stir up, merely putting on a brave face, but Yang Cheng is the one we should be wary of; his identity is quite unusual after all."
Gong Jian was reticent, but Gong Jun knew well that there was no need for them to be too explicit with each other.
"Have someone keep an eye on them and see if there’s anything unusual lately."
Gong Jian said aloud.
Though he had seen Kong Jingshan’s head, he still couldn’t find the clues left by Kong Jingshan, and he felt uneasy. If Yang Cheng learned about the secret, he would certainly come to settle scores.
He knew Yang Cheng had killed Chi Ren, whose strength was not to be underestimated. If a real confrontation occurred, the Gong Family would definitely suffer great losses, and it would attract attention from different forces.
On the other side, Yang Cheng and Kong Lingwen got into the car quickly. He didn’t rush to start the car; instead, he held Kong Lingwen in his arms, his warm palm gently patting her back.
"Calm down, if you’re impatient, the big plan will be affected, we’re no match for Gong Jian now."
Kong Lingwen trembled all over, gritting her teeth, "When I see his face, I can’t control the hatred in my heart. My dad died so horribly, yet he’s cheerful!"
Yang Cheng could understand her feelings; facing the enemy who killed her father and being unable to act, while having to hide the feelings, was truly torturous.
"Lin Wen, you’re smart. If we openly confront him now, Gong Jian, with his character, will go to any lengths to eliminate threats. But if we pretend not to know, he’ll worry about causing trouble and won’t act against the Kong Family."
"Once Master Chen helps me forge the second magic artifact, I’ll go to the Gong Family to question about my father’s whereabouts and then let you personally kill Gong Jian to avenge Uncle Kong. Now’s not the time."
Yang Cheng spoke sincerely.
Kong Lingwen leaned against him, silently shedding tears and nodded chokingly.
"Let’s go, let’s drop by Master Chen’s place and ask him when he can craft the Sun Golden Wheel."
Yang Cheng wiped her tears and started the car, driving towards the old building neighborhood.
Before long, the car reached its destination; the road was still muddy and difficult, but Yang Cheng and Kong Lingwen were used to it.
As soon as they started going upstairs, they heard a loud ’bang’ from inside, shaking the whole building.
"You damned troublemaker! Is it never-ending? This building wasn’t sturdy, to begin with, if you keep this up, who knows when it’ll collapse!"
An elderly lady burst out from next door, shouting loudly.
The old lady’s eyes met Yang Cheng’s as they headed inside, her brows furrowed in displeasure, "Are you here for Old Chen?"
"Yes."
Yang Cheng smiled awkwardly.
The old lady quickly began to complain, "These days, I don’t know what’s gotten into Old Chen, making noise daily at home. I’ve been startled awake several times, and it’s not just that, the old building can’t take this abuse."
"If the building collapses, even if I don’t get crushed to death by sheer luck, I’ll freeze to death homeless!"
"Grandma, please don’t be upset yet; we’ll check things out and ensure Master Chen doesn’t cause any more trouble."
Kong Lingwen spoke softly, feeling a bit more affectionate since the old lady was about her grandmother’s age.
"Alright! Thank you, then."
The old lady said no more, turning back inside.
The two walked to the innermost room door, pushed it open, and saw the place was a mess, reminiscent of a garbage dump.
The floor was covered with weapon materials, dusty everywhere, leaving hardly any space to step.
"Lin Wen, you wait at the door. I’ll have a look myself."
Yang Cheng said and strode forward, arriving at the entrance of the smelting room, hearing Chen Shixiang’s reproach.
"You little rascal, you’ve blown up my furnace again. I really want to kill you!"
"Master, I’m sorry, I did as you said, yet I don’t know why this happened."
Wu Ji’s voice sounded a bit frustrated.
Yang Cheng pushed the door open, seeing both their hair singed and clothes ragged, faces covered in black soot as if climbing out from a coal pile.
"Master Chen, are you alright?"
Yang Cheng asked with concern.
Chen Shixiang replied weakly, "Do I look alright? Help me up first."
Yang Cheng quickly stepped up, helping Chen Shixiang to sit on a chair.
"At first, I thought this kid was talented, but over the last few days, he’s blown up my furnace, wasting a lot of materials. Being his master is truly exhausting!"
Chen Shixiang complained with despair, looking pitiful with his age and dust-covered appearance.
"Master, I’m sorry, please don’t abandon me."
Wu Ji, eyes filled with tears, stubbornly refused to let them fall.
He didn’t understand why the harder he tried, the worse he performed, despite having worked smoothly assisting Master Chen previously and memorizing the process. Yet when it was his turn, his mind blanked out suddenly.
"Ah! Since I’ve taken you in, I won’t leave you. It’s just that if you keep this up, one day you’ll blow up the house and involve other residents, and I’ll have to pay dearly for it."
Chen Shixiang sighed helplessly, seeing that Wu Ji was very earnest but too nervous.
Yang Cheng thought for a while and suggested, "Master Chen, why not move away? I’ll temporarily find you a place in Zhonghai, residing in a house in the suburbs, so there’s no worry about affecting others, and the explosions won’t be too impactful."
"As for these weapons, I’ll send people over to move them all and deliver them to your new residence. How does that sound?"
