Good deeds will be rewarded with good, evil deeds with evil; it’s not that the time for retribution hasn’t come.

The plight of the hooligans verified this saying. Old Xu glanced at the Jumper feeding, then turned around and sprinted away.

Relying on his own abilities, Old Xu narrowly escaped the calamity, but at the same time, the current situation served as a wake-up call: the zombies had begun moving.

"Hey, over there, someone has come out!" Luo Baochun, with his excellent eyesight, was the first to notice Old Xu and Lei Tong escaping a hundred meters away.

Upon hearing this, Hua Biao quickly grabbed the binoculars to observe. This glance froze him with fear.

Indeed, the figures fleeing the noodle shop were Old Xu and Lei Tong, but what horrified Hua Biao was the sight of numerous zombies closing in on the two from within his field of view.

What’s worse is, the zombies appeared in locations that happened to separate them from Old Xu and Lei Tong.

In other words, if they intended to rescue Old Xu and Lei Tong, they would have to engage in a fierce battle with the zombies on the street.

In theory, this shouldn’t be a problem; they could use the vehicle as cover to rush forward and support Old Xu and Lei Tong.

However, this was a deserted city, and the number of zombies here was incomparably greater than in the countryside.

More importantly, under Hua Biao’s surveillance, many Jumpers and Climbers gradually appeared.

And facing these two evolved mutated zombies, even if they had a vehicle, the survivors might not escape unscathed.

Moreover, rescuing inherently required stopping the vehicle, and given the current situation, as soon as the car started, it would undoubtedly be besieged by zombies, so the consequences of stopping are obvious.

Hu Xiaodong and others in the car at the back saw the situation at the Peaceful Noodle Shop clearly too, and the nerves of the survivors instantly grew tense.

The hooligan pinned to the ground was still howling like a ghost, the muscle-tearing pain making him wish for death.

Right now, he was undeniably a noise generator. His noise immediately attracted all sorts of zombies, hidden in the dark and inside the buildings, causing them to swarm out almost entirely.

Seeing the increasing number of zombies in the street and hearing the increasingly intense strange noises from surrounding buildings, cold sweat began to form on Old Xu’s forehead too.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have a gun; otherwise, he would definitely have shot the unlucky man behind him to put an end to his incessant noise-making.

Perhaps Old Xu’s thoughts alerted the heavens, for no sooner had he thought this than he heard two gunshots from behind.

"Bang! Bang!" Naturally, the shots came from the hooligans, fired by Chao-ge who burst out of the shop.

Currently extremely angry, he exited the shop, saw his underling howling like a ghost, and raised his hand to fire two shots.

One shot killed the happily feeding Jumper; another shot blew the head off the howling unlucky man.

With those two shots, the street immediately grew much quieter, but having mobilized the zombies, sending them back was clearly impossible now.

"Chao, Chao-ge, the, the zombies are all out, what, what do we do? Let’s retreat quickly!"

Seeing the zombies gathering from all directions, the hooligans’ faces changed dramatically, completely lacking their previous arrogance.

They truly felt the terror of death, and now their only thought was to flee.

"Retreat!? You’re telling me to retreat! Those bastards have put us in this predicament, and you’re talking about retreat!?" With a quick slap, Chao-ge raised his gun:

"Damn it! Whoever mentions retreat again, I’ll shoot them now!"

Faced with the threat of the gun, even if the hooligans had the heart to resist, they dared not execute it.

"Chase them! Get those two bastards for me!"

"Bang!" As he spoke, Chao-ge fired a shot in the direction of Old Xu’s escape.

Having heard the gunshot behind him, Old Xu instinctively ducked down, but his evasive action was clearly unnecessary, because Chao-ge’s lousy shooting meant he only added to the motivation for the zombies to pursue, lacking any aim at all.

Yes, his shot missed its target. Thanks to his shot, the zombies from the rear sped up even more.

"What are you all still standing around for, chase them!" Chao-ge shouted in a furious voice, seemingly half crazed as he ran while yelling; perhaps only this way could he vent the anger brought about by Old Xu and Lei Tong.

"Damn, this guy’s gone mad; doesn’t he know the current situation?"

"You idiot, if you want to die, die alone; what does dragging us brothers into it accomplish?"

The exchanges of looks among the hooligans revealed their annoyance, but due to Chao-ge’s usual ruthless behavior and his weapon, even if they had complaints, they didn’t dare to express them now.

Two groups of people, one pursuing the other, with Old Xu and Lei Tong fleeing ahead and Chao-ge leading his followers in hot pursuit.

Of course, no matter who was chasing whom, it didn’t change the fact that they would ultimately become prey to the zombies.

Pressed by the zombies blocking the way outside, Old Xu had no choice but to evade.

But this escape led him further away from his own team.

"Lei, continuing this won’t work; we need to find somewhere to hide." Having fought with the Jumper, Old Xu knew better than the hooligans the fierceness of these evolved zombies.

He understood that fighting beasts in such wide spaces, armed with only the weapons they had, was hopeless.

Moreover, with Chao-ge and his men pursuing them like mad hounds, Old Xu had no choice but to find a place to hide.

His eyes quickly searching the front, Lei Tong, as the lead attacker, cleared a path for Old Xu while dealing with approaching Pacers.

"That, that small building!!" Through observation, Lei Tong locked onto a residential building about 100 meters away ahead.

Choosing that location was out of necessity because ahead of Lei Tong were mostly storefronts.

These buildings couldn’t possibly withstand a zombie attack; only that residential building had a fighting chance.

Old Xu glanced at it and without further thought made the decision: "Let’s go there!"

With the target set, Old Xu and Lei Tong accelerated their sprinting.

Their plan was clear: first avoid pursuit on the road, and once they were safe, they would further deliberate on how to escape.

But though Old Xu wanted to flee, Chao-ge would hardly let him escape so easily.

"Dammit! ****! Stand still! Have the nerve to mess with me, you’re done for!"

"Bang!" Another poorly aimed shot from Chao-ge marked his followers’ quickened pursuit, driven by Old Xu’s lead.

"What are you waiting for, drive and rush!" Watching the situation getting more urgent ahead, Hua Biao furiously shouted at Luo Baochun.

Luo Baochun was taken aback by Hua Biao’s shout, knowing that in normal times Hua Biao was invariably polite and gentle, yet now...
