Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 213: Ludo’s Treasure, I’m Here Again

’Heh. It seems I can wait for my brother to get the guild headquarters set up. When he invites me, I can try using the Legendary Island Order.’

With this thought in mind, Faye Yardley grew a little impatient and sent a private message to her brother, asking about their construction progress.

"Sister, Rainie just sent over some water bamboo and a large goose. Should we raise the goose, or just eat it for lunch today?"

Faye Yardley replied without hesitation, "If it’s a gander, kill it and we’ll eat it."

"In that case, you won’t be eating it today, Sister. I’ll put it in the breeding room to raise."

Before lunch, Faye Yardley decided to focus on fishing for treasure chests. She hadn’t expected Blackwood to run over and crouch beside her of his own accord.

"Blackwood, don’t tell me you want some dried fish?"

Blackwood looked up at her, and Faye Yardley, not one to be stingy, tossed him a piece.

"Meeow~"

Blackwood ate to his heart’s content.

’It’s actually pretty nice having a little companion while fishing for treasure chests.’

The special fishing rod twitched, and Faye Yardley reeled it in. To her surprise, the catch was a moldy piece of black bread.

[Moldy Black Bread: Cammy’s dinner. He has lost his dinner and is starving to death.]

Faye Yardley: ...

’Don’t tell me that Cammy fellow is going to starve just because I fished up his black bread. I’m not taking the blame for that.’

’If I could, I’d even be willing to sponsor him.’

"Meow!"

Faye Yardley looked from the black bread to Blackwood beside her and asked uncertainly, "Blackwood, you don’t want to eat this, do you?"

Blackwood nodded.

"You’ll eat anything. Won’t you upset your stomach?"

Despite her words, she agreed.

Blackwood swallowed it in one big gulp, then let out a burp.

Faye Yardley patted Blackwood’s head. ’I still have that meat with Divinity in my storage,’ she thought. ’Should I keep feeding it to him and Willow?’

’And if Willow can eat it, what about Rainie?’

’She’s my brother’s assistant, after all. Maybe I should...’

’And what further changes would they undergo if they ate more?’

’Would they break free from the system’s control?’

Faye Yardley didn’t think so.

’If it were possible to break free from the system’s control, I’d eat a few pieces myself!’

During lunch, Faye Yardley asked Willow Yardley directly, "Willow, what do you think would happen if you ate more of that meat with Divinity?"

Willow Yardley blinked, thought for a moment, then shook her head and answered honestly, "I’m not sure."

"Then why don’t you have another piece?"

With a meow, a black shadow leaped onto the table.

This time, she cut off a pound of meat for them to share.

After gulping his share down, Blackwood collapsed with a THUD.

Willow Yardley, on the other hand, resisted the urge to swallow it raw and took it to the kitchen to pan-fry it before eating.

She, too, fell into a deep sleep after finishing her portion.

’I really never learn. I should have had Willow eat in her room.’

Resigned to her fate, she picked them up, one in each hand, placed them on the sofa, and paid them no more mind.

She felt a momentary confusion. ’What should I do now?’

’Maybe I should go do a run in Dungeon 1?’

’On second thought, I should open the treasure chests I’ve fished up these last two days first.’

However, before opening the chests, Faye Yardley thought of Zephyr Sterling and sent him a message: "Mr. Zephyr Sterling, quick question. Did you ever eat any more of that meat with Divinity?"

"No, I was worried something bad might happen. Why? Are you thinking of trying it now?"

"No, just asking. You’ve stopped glowing, right?"

"It’s been days; I stopped glowing long ago. If you have any other expeditions in mind, you can still count me in."

Faye Yardley didn’t refuse, simply saying she would invite him when an opportunity came up.

’If even he didn’t dare to eat more, then of course I don’t have the courage to try.’

’Once Willow wakes up, I’ll know if our connection is still as strong as it was before.’

’If the connection has weakened at all, Willow won’t be allowed to have any more of the Divinity-laced food. In that case, I won’t give any to Rainie, either. My brother probably only needs a simple, ordinary housekeeping robot by his side.’

’What my brother wants and what I want have never been the same.’

Faye Yardley cautioned herself not to be too presumptuous.

’Being blood relatives, no matter how close, isn’t an excuse to be reckless.’

Placing all the chests in front of herself, Faye Yardley took a deep breath. "Jade Emperor, The Three Pure Ones, oh great and powerful System, please let me get something good!"

[Obtained: Treasure Map Fragment ×1, Hen ×1, Rain Shelter Blueprint ×1, Outdoor Solar Lights ×2, wood ×20]

Talent triggered... items doubled.

[Obtained: Cotton ×10, Cotton Gloves ×2, Torch Crafting Blueprint ×1, Popping Candy ×10]

Talent triggered... items tripled.

The contents of the two Iron Treasure Boxes left Faye Yardley feeling a bit underwhelmed. It wasn’t a great haul, but it wasn’t terrible either.

She now had three new Treasure Map Fragments. After taking the other three out of her storage, a system prompt appeared: [Combinable Treasure Map Fragments detected. Would you like to combine them?]

"Yes."

[Congratulations, you have obtained Ludo’s Treasure Map 2.]

’Wait a minute, are all the treasure maps in this world from Ludo?!’

’Is the game making me dig up all his treasures in a row?’

’It couldn’t be in the same spot I dug up the last one, could it?’

’If so, my raft hasn’t been gone for long. The trip back should be much faster than yesterday.’

Without much thought, Faye Yardley used it immediately, and the familiar guiding line of light appeared once more.

And just as she expected, Goliath turned around and began sailing back the way they came.

Looking at the Sea Map in the air, Faye Yardley sighed softly.

’Oh well. It seems the entrance really is in the same waters as Logan Langdon’s team.’

The other Wooden Treasure Chests didn’t yield any particular surprises, though her supplies of food and Pure Water increased significantly.

She even listed some of the food and water on the market, trading for Dungeon Fragments. The rate was one meal’s worth of food and drink per fragment. She figured there were probably some "especially lucky" people out there who would need it.

’Now that everyone from Veridia is in the same area, there are more people, which means more possibilities.’

She sent the Rain Shelter Blueprint and all the solar lights to her brother, and tossed the Torch Crafting Blueprint to Eleanor Jonas.

She sent the hen to the breeding room.

Then, she went to the head of Goliath and gazed out at the vast sea. Their speed was much faster now. It seemed having a clear destination really picked up the pace.

Using Invisibility, Faye Yardley returned to the spot where she had first moored her raft. By the time she arrived, it was already 3:00 p.m.

Since Blackwood and Willow Yardley were still unconscious, Faye Yardley found Eamon and told him, "Keep an eye on Bella. Don’t let her run off."

Then, she turned to Bella beside her. "You be good and stay on the raft. I’m just going to find some treasure, and then I’ll be back."

Bella nodded, then nuzzled against Faye Yardley, unwilling to see her go.

Eamon promised from the side, "Don’t worry, Sister. I’ll keep an eye on Bella."

"Alright, I’m off to find the treasure then."

’Ludo’s treasure, here I come again.’
