Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 214: I Don’t Know, It Just Collapsed

She jumped off the raft and swam through the sea, following the beam of light.

The closer she got to Logan Langdon’s team’s raft, the deeper Faye Yardley descended.

She just wanted to avoid them, but she discovered that in the area she’d left yesterday, quite a few people were wearing various kinds of gear and trying hard to dive down.

Faye Yardley sighed softly and decided to dive deep into the ocean from a distance. ’By the time I feel like I’m about to be crushed by the water pressure, the others probably won’t be able to hold on either. No one will find me then.’

But after descending less than five meters, she ran right into a white bubble of light. Faye Yardley made an exasperated expression, took out her own Water-Repelling Pearl to shield herself, and thought, ’This is just my luck.’

Hugh Langdon hadn’t expected to run into Faye Yardley again either. She had just left last night, and now she was back. It was obvious there was something down here.

Unfortunately, the time on their Water-Repelling Pearl was about to run out. If they didn’t head back, they couldn’t hold their breath for nearly as long as the woman in front of them.

But it felt frustrating not to follow.

Xavier Thatcher was also surprised to see her again. His feelings toward Faye Yardley were actually very complicated.

’Call her a good person? She can be ruthless enough to kill. Call her a bad person? She’s willing to spend millions of points just to merge all the Veridian districts.’

’As expected, I’ve never been able to truly see through human nature.’

Faye Yardley waved at them and continued downward, completely unconcerned about whether they would follow.

Since she’d already been discovered, Faye Yardley even proceeded with a certain frankness.

She began to circle downward just over two meters below them, following the light.

Circling lower and lower, she soon realized no one was keeping up with her. Her surroundings once again became silent.

She returned to that empty space, reappearing in the familiar place filled with the songs of birds and the fragrance of flowers.

Behind the same large tree was the familiar little pond.

Faye Yardley really wanted to complain. ’My friend Ludo, can you only hide your treasure in this one spot?’

She chose a spot a little farther away, where it would be harder for arrows to reach, and skillfully took out her fishing rod. Soon, she hooked a Silver Treasure Chest.

The moment the same kind of chest was pulled from the pond, a rain of arrows arrived right on cue.

’So the big tree by the pond is there just to give people a sliver of hope in the arrow storm?’

’Ludo, your imagination might be a bit lacking, but at least you’re somewhat kind. Of course, not *that* kind.’

Faye Yardley didn’t even wait for the arrow rain to completely disappear. She quickly stashed the treasure chest in her backpack and cast her line back into the pond before it could vanish.

’This is my second time here. There’s no way I’m leaving with just one chest.’

She spun Light Wound in her left hand, blocking all the arrows that slipped past the treetops.

Her right hand gripped the fishing rod tightly as she prayed for another bite.

She felt a sudden, sharp tug on the fishing rod. Whatever she had hooked, Faye Yardley began to pull with all her might.

This time, it was as if she’d stirred up Ludo’s nest; the rain of arrows turned into a downpour.

The large tree was shot to splinters by the barrage.

Faye Yardley moved so fast while pulling the fishing rod that she left afterimages.

What was even more absurd was that before she could even get a clear look at what she’d caught, the entire dungeon-like place began to collapse.

’What a disaster. I’m afraid there won’t be a Ludo’s Treasure Map 3 after this.’

Faye Yardley ran and ran, for who knows how long, as the scenery behind her continued to crumble.

*THUD*

She suddenly fell into the previously empty underwater cave.

Ignoring everything else, Faye Yardley rolled and began reeling in her line nonstop. The catch, along with various rocks and weeds, landed in the cave.

With a loud THUMP, Faye Yardley finally saw what she had reeled in.

It was one of those rhomboid-faced rectangular prisms she had seen in Dungeon 2, but this one was hundreds of times larger than the small, thin one from the system.

There was no time to think. She immediately stored the item in her backpack and started heading for the cave exit.

She wasn’t sure if it was because she had accidentally destroyed the other side, but she felt that even this cave was becoming unstable.

Just as she reached the entrance, she ran into Logan Langdon and Chloe Hughes.

"Gorgeous Yardley, you..."

"We can talk outside. This place feels like it’s about to collapse," Faye Yardley said, already moving past them.

She didn’t care whether they believed her or not.

As soon as she exited the cave, the pressure returned as expected. The Water-Repelling Pearl’s protective shield was pressed tightly against her, only just ensuring she wouldn’t suffocate.

She swam hard for the surface. Logan Langdon didn’t follow immediately. Instead, he and Chloe Hughes rushed into the cave, did a quick loop, and only left when the cave began to shake noticeably.

And from that quick tour, they didn’t come away empty-handed either.

When Faye Yardley reached the surface, she summoned her small wooden boat and climbed aboard.

She didn’t leave right away, instead taking out a handkerchief to wipe her face.

On a nearby raft, Henry Lewis watched her with a complicated expression. In the beginning, she had sought out his junior to be her bodyguard and coach. But how long had it been? Her achievements had already surpassed all of them.

’I should be the one shining brightly. A beautiful girl like her should be admiring me, falling for my charm.’

Many people thought the same way he did, but few would admit it so openly.

Faye Yardley paid no mind to how others saw her. She knew Logan Langdon and Chloe Hughes would be up soon, so she decided to wait.

Although she didn’t think they had much to talk about, she was near their "home," and they had met. It was only polite to say goodbye before leaving.

Sigh...

Faye Yardley suddenly felt she was being a little too polite.

Sure enough, before long, Logan Langdon’s head popped up from the water.

He climbed directly onto a nearby raft, faced Faye Yardley, and extended an invitation. "Gorgeous Yardley, care to come over and sit for a while?"

"Thank you, but no. I was just waiting here to say goodbye to Mr. Langdon and Miss Hughes in person."

Chloe Hughes swam right up and rested her arms on the edge of the small boat. "Don’t always keep people at arm’s length. I think we could have a lot to talk about."

"If Miss Hughes has something to say to me, you’re welcome to board my boat and travel back with me. We’ll have plenty of time to talk on the way," Faye Yardley offered directly.

To her surprise, Chloe Hughes immediately climbed onto the small boat and sat across from her. "Well then, don’t mind if I do."

Faye Yardley smiled faintly and asked, "What would you like to drink, Miss Hughes? Coffee, tea, milk tea?"

"Anything is fine."

Taking a strawberry juice from her backpack, she handed it over. Faye Yardley got one for herself as well, then waved at Logan Langdon. "Mr. Langdon, I’ll be chatting with Miss Hughes for a bit, then."

The small boat slowly pulled away from the cluster of rafts.

Chloe Hughes took a big gulp, finishing more than half the drink. "Wow, this is delicious. Faye, did you find something down there just now?"

Faye Yardley took a small sip and smiled faintly. "I’m not sure. I went down there and looked around, but before I could even find any treasure, the place just started collapsing for some reason."
