Chapter 269: 1-Hour Invitation Card
As for anything else, besides warning them not to enter the food street, there was little else to say.
Who knew what would happen if they entered the food street with the little money they had.
Besides, many of them had never even activated a system bank account; some had never even heard of a universal currency before.
Faye Yardley watched their figures disappear. Without a second thought, she sped off in Eamon’s direction.
Anything that dared to pop out and block her path—whether human or not—was slaughtered and turned into fertilizer for the sea of flowers.
Eamon wasn’t in good shape, but it wasn’t too terrible, either. At least he was still alive.
The cat beside him kept urging him to leave the sea of flowers and move on to the next attraction, but he refused to budge. The other two Little Green Men from his clan also preferred it here, so they had no complaints about staying.
It would be even better if they weren’t being harassed by the Bee People and Butterfly People.
Their attempts to persuade Eamon to move from this spot were useless. As time ticked by, they began to grow anxious.
They could handle a few scattered Bee People, but a swarm would make their legs turn to jelly.
By the time Faye Yardley arrived, Eamon had swelled up by a full size. His head was so swollen it looked like a pig’s.
His eyes were swollen into slits, and he could barely see.
Upon hearing Faye Yardley’s voice, he let out a loud WAIL and burst into tears.
Those Bee People were no match for Faye Yardley and Cole Kensington. After they took out a quarter of the swarm, the rest fled.
Faye Yardley grabbed Eamon. "Let’s go. We’re leaving together. We’re done playing here."
"Okay, okay! Faye, get me out of here! I don’t want to play here anymore."
The other two Little Green Men were about to say they still had two attractions left to visit, but then the three of them vanished from right before their eyes.
"What’s happening? You can leave even if you haven’t finished the entire route?"
Others nearby saw this and wanted to try, but it was useless. No matter how much they yelled about wanting to quit, they couldn’t leave.
Their shouts about it being unfair and rigged were ignored.
’Faye Yardley had a hunch it was because she had an employment agreement with Eamon. The game system’s authority was clearly high enough to override the local rules.’
After leaving Dreamland Park, the world outside was already aglow with flickering lights. The sky had turned completely dark.
It had never been particularly bright, but now it was clearly the dead of night.
’This Nightfall Citadel is so popular. The entrances to Phantasia aren’t far from each other, and both are packed with people.’
’So Nightfall Citadel really is a city that never sleeps. No wonder I’ve seen so few hotels.’
’As long as you don’t get tired, you can just keep playing forever.’
Faye Yardley had no idea how many attractions there were in total. Once they were out, there was no guide to be found.
"Come on. There’s a bus stop up ahead. Let’s see where it goes."
The sign on the platform read: Next Stop: Childcare Center. Terminus: Aquarium.
’Faye Yardley was curious. What would happen if you just wandered around Nightfall Citadel without participating in any of the attractions?’
’Could you just get through it safely that way?’
’She wasn’t sure, but she believed someone must have tried it. She could probably find out by checking the world channel later.’
’As for herself, she wasn’t in the habit of walking around aimlessly.’
So, the three of them quickly boarded the bus.
They got off at the Childcare Center. She wanted to check on her brother and the others.
But after arriving, she searched all over and couldn’t find them. As for the other children’s names, she didn’t know any of them.
’And if she remembered correctly, the Childcare Center was near the main gate of Nightfall Citadel. What would happen if they chose to leave now? Could they just walk out?’
After taking a few steps, Faye Yardley stopped dead in her tracks. ’Damn it,’ she thought. ’I knew something was affecting me.’
’I almost forgot about Yvonne Lynch again.’
She had the system pull up her All World Communication friends list and, without hesitation, sent a call to Yvonne Lynch.
The call connected almost instantly.
"Faye, where are you? There are so many people here!"
"Were you already asleep?"
"Yeah, I just lay down a little while ago."
Faye Yardley smiled. "I’m in Nightfall Citadel right now. Want to come hang out for an hour?"
"Really? That’s great! I’m coming!" Yvonne Lynch said, jumping out of bed. She then said she needed to change clothes.
Faye Yardley reminded her to tell her parents. Yvonne Lynch quickly threw on some clothes and rushed out of the room. A moment later, a beautiful and elegant woman appeared on the other side of the screen.
"Hello, Yardley. I’m Yvonne’s mother. You want Yvonne to come play for an hour?"
Faye Yardley smiled and nodded. "See? A one-hour Invitation Card. If it works, I’d like to invite her over to play."
"You’re a good kid. I approve."
Yvonne Lynch immediately hugged her mother’s arm. "Thanks, Mom! Faye, quick, send the invitation!"
’So it’s true. During the event, you can invite people normally, even when you aren’t on your raft.’
The moment Yvonne Lynch appeared, Faye Yardley shoved a Nightfall Citadel ticket into her hand. A black Smoke Person drifted over, took the ticket, and admonished, "Next time, present your ticket at the gate."
Yvonne Lynch was still a bit dazed, but she answered instinctively, "Okay. I’m sorry for the trouble."
Seeing her good attitude and polite speech, the expression on the black Smoke Person’s indiscernible face seemed to soften, and it drifted away.
After it left, Yvonne Lynch snapped back to reality and excitedly grabbed Faye Yardley’s hand. "This is great! I get to see you again, Faye! Oh, Eamon, what happened to you? Come here."
When Eamon came over, Yvonne Lynch casually took his arm. Her Healing Ability flowed into his body, and soon, the pig-faced Eamon was back to normal.
"Thank you, Yvonne. The pain and itching are finally gone."
"You’re welcome. Just be more careful next time. Faye, huh? Is this a new friend?"
"Yeah, this is Cole Kensington. He’s a year younger than you. Kingston, come over here. This is Yvonne."
"Great! Come on, we only have an hour. Let’s go on that giant Ferris wheel! We can even have dinner on it." As Yvonne Lynch spoke, she took out a shimmering black card and explained, "My mom gave it to me. She said since our time is limited, I should use this to treat you to a meal."
Soon, a car made of smoke pulled up beside them. A black Smoke Person got out, opened the door, and said, "Honored guests, please get in."
’Tsk. Class divisions are everywhere.’
Faye Yardley didn’t stand on ceremony and got in the car.
They arrived at their destination—the Ferris wheel restaurant—just moments after getting in the car.
"Faye, quick! Let’s pick the biggest one."
The words had barely left her mouth when the largest cabin on the slowly turning Ferris wheel stopped right in front of them.
Faye Yardley and Yvonne Lynch sat on one side, with Cole Kensington and Eamon sitting across from them.
Before they could even order, a feast materialized on the empty table. At the same moment, the Ferris wheel began to move.
