Chapter 210: Ludo’s Treasure
’How long does it take to get to a treasure?’
Faye Yardley was starting to think this sea voyage was taking way too long.
She had started the journey just before 4 PM, and now it was 8 PM, but she still hadn’t reached her destination.
"Faye, why don’t you go to the training room first? I’ll call you when we get there."
Faye Yardley shook her head. "No, it’s fine. If I go to the training room, my mind will just be preoccupied with this anyway. There’s no point. I’ll just wait. The navigation shows the destination isn’t that far now."
Despite her words, she still got up, did some warm-up exercises, and then began practicing various Basic Martial Arts moves.
’Whether I’m anxious or not, the raft’s speed is what it is.’
In the distance, she could see many small black dots. Ludo’s treasure was located beneath them.
Faye Yardley stopped the raft. She planned to secretly slip into the sea and go over by herself.
’Even though my raft has Invisibility, if I rush into the middle of so many other rafts, it’s hard to say I won’t bump into someone and be discovered.’
’Besides, there’s no telling who’s over there. Going into the sea alone to find the treasure is the best option.’
"Willow, keep an eye on Bella. Don’t let her go in the sea. There are too many people up ahead."
"Okay."
Faye Yardley hadn’t expected to enter the sea territory occupied by Logan Langdon’s team.
It just seemed he wasn’t around, and neither were Chloe Hughes or Henry Lewis.
Seriously, she hadn’t meant to eavesdrop. It was just that Hugh Langdon and Xavier Thatcher were complaining about her on a small wooden boat right above her, and she happened to overhear a bit.
Faye Yardley felt she had to speed up and find the treasure. Otherwise, who knew what would happen when Logan Langdon returned.
For now, she could only hope that although the treasure was in their territory, they hadn’t discovered it yet.
A sense of urgency began to well up inside her.
Following the guiding line of light from the system, Faye Yardley began to descend.
The depths of the sea here were surprisingly clean. It wasn’t that there were no marine creatures, but they were exceptionally rare. There weren’t even any coral reefs or seaweed beds.
’So why would Ludo’s treasure be hidden in such an empty place?’
She went deeper and deeper. The pressure on her body multiplied, and her surroundings became dark and abyssal. Seeing the guiding light, Faye Yardley couldn’t help but smile. ’I’m finally getting close.’
But she obviously hadn’t reached the end yet. She continued downward, and now the path began to twist and turn, leading her in circles.
It looked so close, right before her eyes, yet she just couldn’t reach the final destination.
By now, the immense pressure surrounding her felt like it was about to crush Faye Yardley flat.
’I’ve come this far.’ Faye Yardley didn’t want to back down on the home stretch. Her body spontaneously began circulating the Health Care Scripture to counteract the external pressure as she chose to continue downward.
Just as she reached a breaking point where she could barely take it anymore, she suddenly heard a soft POP by her ear, and all the pressure on her body vanished.
Her surroundings were no longer pitch-black. It was as if she had entered another space.
[Congratulations, you have discovered Ludo’s treasure trove.]
’I’ve finally made it to the right place.’ The problem was, although there was light, the space before her was completely empty, with everything visible at a glance.
’Do I still need to dig for the treasure?’
’Or has someone already gotten here first and taken it?’
Faye Yardley felt she couldn’t be that unlucky. After all, her manifested Luck Value wouldn’t allow her to be so pessimistic.
She took out a stick and tapped here and prodded there, but she couldn’t find anything unusual about any of the walls or the floor.
This was highly unusual.
Faye Yardley plopped right down on the ground.
The moment she sat down, she felt the world spin. When she opened her eyes again, she found her surroundings had changed once more.
Seeing sunlight, flowers, trees, and fluttering butterflies at the bottom of the sea... it was all quite fantastical.
’But isn’t this exactly what I imagined a treasure trove would be like?’
So, with stick in hand, Faye Yardley began to carefully explore this place of chirping birds and fragrant flowers.
Meanwhile, on the raft, Bella was getting restless, eager to jump into the sea. But after glancing at Willow Yardley, who was staring fixedly at it, it let out two whinnies. Seeing she was unmoved, it flopped down and played dead.
"My sister said you can’t go out, so you can’t go out. You can only get off the raft after she comes back. If you dare to sneak out while I’m busy, I’ll have her throw you out when she returns, you disobedient, gluttonous thing."
Willow Yardley said this with a deadpan expression, but her words were completely serious.
Bella continued to lie there playing dead. It had heard her. It just wanted to find its master. A moment ago, it had felt its connection to its master become extremely faint.
"Don’t worry, my sister is fine."
With that, Willow Yardley headed toward the breeding room.
"Huh? A small pond."
Faye Yardley frowned slightly, looking at the small pond hidden by a large tree and some flowers.
She sighed in the end and walked toward it.
By the time she reached the pond’s edge, she had already spotted the treasure.
The pond wasn’t deep, and its water was clear. She could see that the bottom was filled with silt, and the corners of two chests were peeking out from it.
She poked at the chests with the stick in her hand, even trying to pry them out, but this only made them sink deeper.
She took out a regular fishing rod and cast it skillfully. This time, a chest was quickly hooked, but pulling it up was extremely strenuous.
’My Constitution and Strength are both over 30 now. To think it’s still this difficult to pull up... just as I thought, getting this treasure isn’t going to be easy.’
With a mighty heave, she yanked a silvery-white treasure box out of the silt, churning up the water in the pond.
Along with the box came a volley of arrows.
Faye Yardley twirled the stick in her hand like a pinwheel, parrying all the arrows. However, the ordinary wooden stick was constantly shortening—the arrows’ damage was clearly not low.
Twirling the stick with one hand, she used the other to yank the box up and fling it behind her, simultaneously retreating quickly.
As she dodged, the stick in her hand became too short to use. The moment she dropped it, Light Wound appeared in her hand.
She retreated a good distance before the arrows stopped coming. Only then did Faye Yardley tug the fishing rod, pulling the silvery-white treasure box closer.
"A Silver Treasure Box?"
Faye Yardley didn’t open it right away. Instead, she stored it in her backpack. After all, she had seen two chests, and she definitely couldn’t let the other one go.
Anyway, it was the same thought as before: ’I’ve come this far and I’ve seen it. Am I really going to give up just because of a shower of arrows?’
That was absolutely out of the question.
She cautiously approached the small pond again, only to find that when she got back, there was no small pond anymore.
"Huh?! Is it being this stingy again? It shouldn’t be."
She circled the large tree twice. The spot where the pond had been was now solid earth, complete with resilient little blades of grass.
Looking up at the large tree beside her, Faye Yardley glanced left and right. "Did my memory fail me? Am I in the wrong spot?"
