Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 241: Asking for Directions Box, Come On Beans, Brave the Rapids

When a person in battle starts thinking about giving up and begging for mercy, their combat power plummets.

Faye Yardley wasn’t about to go easy on him just because he was begging. She was long past being the naive girl who was easily swayed by pity.

Ever since the seed of a warrior’s heart was planted within her, she had developed a craving for battle.

Especially now, when she had the upper hand. She naturally wouldn’t hold back.

"Stop, stop, stop! If you stop, I can lead you to the real exit."

"A pack of lies. You think I’d believe you?"

"It’s true! If it’s not the real exit, it won’t be too late for you to kill me then."

Faye just snorted coldly, her attacks never ceasing for a moment.

More and more wounds appeared on the large man. Seeing that begging was useless, he finally flew into a rage.

As Faye decapitated him with a single slash, the disbelief on his face was still clearly visible!

After she killed the large man, there was no spray of blood, no head, and no corpse.

A box had suddenly appeared on the path.

After she picked it up, a system notification appeared: [Obtained asking for directions box x1].

"What kind of weird thing is this?" Faye looked at the box in her hand and muttered to herself, "So that guy really did know the way out? Ah, whatever. How could some bizarre person be more trustworthy than an item?"

She didn’t use it right away. Faye stored the box in her backpack and continued forward.

Along the way, she actively or passively dealt with several other things that tried to jump out and scare her.

It seemed all the things appearing in the haunted house were Undead Creatures, so they were all countered by Faye and couldn’t use their full strength.

Some were even more ridiculous, getting dispersed by an Exorcism Talisman before they could even make their appearance.

They were basically just here for comic relief, lining up to die.

It wasn’t until she reached a fork in the road that Faye took out the asking for directions box again.

"Box, oh box, show me the correct path to the exit."

After she spoke, the asking for directions box flashed with a fluorescent light and transformed into an arrow, pointing to one of the five paths.

As Faye stepped onto the path indicated by the arrow, the other paths vanished. The path before her also disappeared, and a black door materialized in its place.

She walked up, pushed open the door, and saw bright sunlight outside.

[Congratulations, Player, you have successfully completed the second attraction.]

She glanced down at her watch. The time was already nearly two in the afternoon.

"Blackwood, looks like we’ll have to speed things up for the last attraction. Let’s see which one is closest and go to that."

After leaving the haunted house, Faye Yardley followed the path, wanting to get to the next attraction as quickly as possible.

She didn’t expect it to be a choice between the log flume and a drop tower.

Faye blinked. Which one should she choose? The entrances were side-by-side. In a normal amusement park, both of these rides would be simple enough.

Here, though, it was a safe bet they held dangers that defied imagination.

"Friendly reminder: visitors outside the yellow line should stop queuing. Otherwise, you won’t have time to enjoy the ride before the park closes."

Faye looked down at herself. She was just outside the yellow line.

Heh...

’Trying to stop me from getting on the ride? Impossible.’

She took a come on bean from her backpack and tossed it out. "Look! It’s a come on bean! Oh my god, I can’t believe they have those here!"

Along with Faye’s exaggerated shout and the alluring scent wafting from the come on bean, the line instantly dissolved into chaos. Many people broke from the queue and joined the scramble for the bean.

Faye took the opportunity to squeeze her way through the crowd, letting herself be pushed forward right to the entrance.

’Huh, so it’s the log flume ride.’

Faye didn’t forget to grab a raincoat from a nearby basket before quickly hopping onto a boat that was about to depart, taking a seat in the very back.

She quickly took a poncho from her backpack and put it on, then layered the park’s raincoat over it. She also put on a face mask and goggles.

The boat started moving as soon as she sat down.

The Catgirl next to her turned and gave her a strange look. "How are you supposed to enjoy the ride wrapped up like that? Hurry up and take it off."

Faye just hummed in response. Then, after a moment’s thought, she wrapped a scarf several times around her neck under the poncho and pulled on a pair of rubber gloves.

The boat continued to drift slowly forward with the current.

Since she had the prep time, Faye took out a rope and grappling hook again to secure herself to the seat beneath her.

The Catgirl beside her stared, dumbfounded. "Aren’t you here for the thrill? How is this supposed to be thrilling?"

The people in front who overheard also turned to look at Faye, who was now bundled up like a mummy, their expressions disapproving.

The moment Faye violently jammed the grappling hook into the stern of the boat, it shot forward with a WHOOSH, like an arrow loosed from a bow.

"AHHHH~"

"Hahaha..."

"This is it! This is it! I can’t believe it’s getting exciting before we even start the climb!"

Faye could already feel the violent jolts. The Catgirl next to her was gripping the back of the seat in front of them, laughing wildly.

’As expected,’ she complained internally. ’Only a psycho would enjoy this amusement park.’

Blackwood had already burrowed into her Vestment robe, trying to squeeze himself into the large pocket of her tracksuit.

The boat began a 90-degree vertical ascent. Pretty impressive for a boat.

Some of the other passengers, unable to contain their excitement, started to fall out.

"He’s falling! He’s falling!"

"Fall faster, fall faster!"

"So close! His tail caught on my neck. Dammit!"

Faye also gripped the seatback in front of her with both hands, pressing her back firmly against her own seat and hooking her feet under the one ahead, doing her best not to fall out.

She was lying flat on her back now, and she couldn’t help but feel relieved that even though she’d moved quickly, she had at least tied the drawstring of her raincoat hood tightly.

If the raincoat’s hood flew off, the hat underneath would easily fall off too.

A fine mist began to drift down from the sky.

When the mist landed on her goggles, they seemed to make a faint SIZZLING sound as black smoke rose before her eyes.

’Clearly, this isn’t normal rain.’

’Are the survival conditions this harsh right from the start?’

They finally reached the top of the vertical climb. Before they could even pause for a second, the boat began to plunge downward.

The drifting mist instantly turned into a torrential downpour.

It PELTED her back heavily, feeling like it was trying to beat her until her organs ruptured.

Suddenly, a slender, pale hand emitting black smoke grabbed her arm.

"Hahaha... This is so much fun! Take me with you! Take me with you~"

’Freaking psycho!’ The small, pale hand had a surprisingly strong grip. Faye immediately took out a Sharp Dagger with her free right hand and viciously stabbed the hand.

Amid the downpour, the Sharp Dagger accurately and ruthlessly plunged into the back of the small hand.

And then, the dagger began to slowly melt in the rain.

"Huh? Your dagger is such poor quality. Quick, get another one. That didn’t hurt enough."

Faye: ...
