She had nothing left for them to scheme over.

With a shrill voice, Hayley Sullivan quickly grabbed Georgia Thorne’s wrist. "How can you eat so little? No wonder you’re so thin!"

Georgia, held fast by her, couldn’t stand up.

Hayley continued, "Eat more. Otherwise, Justin will think our Thorne Family is mistreating you!"

As Hayley spoke, she picked up a chicken drumstick with her chopsticks and placed it in Georgia’s bowl.

Georgia was very unaccustomed to Hayley being nice to her, so she offered a cold "thank you."

Throughout the uncomfortable dinner, Georgia smelled the thick stench of conspiracy.

Fortunately, nothing happened, allowing her to relax a little.

After dinner, Georgia planned to head back.

Before she could even say a word, Hayley seemed to have already guessed her intentions. "Just stay here at home tonight!"

"I heard you quit your job. You’re not earning any money, and living outside costs a lot every day. You should just stay at home for a while." Hayley gripped Georgia’s hand, her voice gentle and full of pity. "Look how thin you’ve gotten. And why did you run off to Akashima half a year ago to suffer like that?"

This sent Georgia into a daze, making her feel as if she were hallucinating.

Hayley had always detested her, wishing she would just disappear from her sight.

Georgia didn’t feel any affection; on the contrary, she broke out in goosebumps.

To put it bluntly, this was all because of Justin Sullivan.

"There’s no need!"

"You’re a young woman. How improper is it for you to be out on your own all the time? From now on, you’ll live at home. I’ll have someone move your things back tomorrow!" Jared Thorne spoke, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Georgia found it laughable. She had lived in the Thorne Family for so many years, and this was the first time they had ever tried to control her.

Georgia stood up and said coldly, "I don’t want to move back!"

Justin Sullivan sat on the sofa, his eyes fixed on Georgia’s determined gaze.

’She’s changed in so many ways. She’s not like the Georgia I remember at all.’

’The clear eyes that once gazed at me, full of adoration and obsession, are now cold and distant.’

’I can’t blame Georgia. This is all my own doing.’

Justin didn’t want Georgia living on her own; he was afraid she would get involved with other men.

’But living here doesn’t seem like a good idea either.’

’Hayley is a jealous woman. Having her husband’s child from another woman living in the house will surely make her unhappy. She might even cause trouble for Georgia.’

"Living on her own is fine too," Justin Sullivan said aloud.

Jared Thorne and Hayley Sullivan were currently sucking up to Justin, so whatever he said, they echoed.

Jared changed his tune again. "Well, just stay here at home for tonight!"

Georgia wasn’t stupid. She could tell that Jared and the others were just following Justin’s lead.

"I’m a little tired. I’m going upstairs to rest."

Georgia turned and walked upstairs.

Back in her room, she had just sat down for a moment when someone knocked on the door.

"Congratulations. Hooking up with Justin Sullivan so quickly." Amanda Thorne looked at her mockingly. "If you end up marrying him someday, should I call you ’little sister,’ or should I call you ’auntie’?"

Georgia kept her hands behind her back, her fingers fiddling with the ring on her ring finger.

She smiled gracefully. "That day will never come."

’I’m already married to Elliot Sheridan.’

Amanda scoffed disdainfully, "Who knows!"

’Justin has his sights set on Georgia. Otherwise, Mom and Dad wouldn’t have had such a drastic change in attitude toward her today.’

Silence fell in Georgia’s room. She listened to the sounds outside and heard a car starting in the courtyard.

She walked to the window, pulled back the curtains, and looked down.

Two bright headlights flashed on. Georgia couldn’t see inside the car, but she could clearly feel that the person inside was looking up at her.

She took out her phone and dialed Justin Sullivan’s number.

"What exactly are you trying to do?"

"Nothing. I just wanted to see you." Justin Sullivan looked up toward the window, which revealed half of Georgia’s profile.

"If I had called to ask you out, you would have just made an excuse to avoid me, wouldn’t you?"

"..."

Georgia said nothing. He was right.

The more they saw each other, the more hope it would give Justin, and Georgia didn’t want that.

Besides, if Elliot knew she went to see Justin, there was no telling how jealous he would get!

"Nina, can we go back to how things were before?"

Justin’s voice was filled with pain, which made her uncomfortable to hear.

Georgia didn’t know what answer she could give him that would be considered perfect.

’What if I say yes? What if I say no? No matter what, we can never go back to the way we were.’

Georgia looked down at the car with a placid expression, deciding that silence was the best answer.

Justin’s faint sigh came through the phone, settling on her heart like a heavy stone.

Justin watched the window as Georgia pulled the curtains shut. Her soft voice came through the phone. "I’m sorry."

Time could not be turned back.

She had just hung up when another call came in.

Elliot Sheridan’s displeased voice came through. "Who were you on the phone with? You were talking for so long."

Elliot was anxious. Although Georgia was his wife, there were still plenty of men who had their eyes on her.

For example, her "uncle," Justin Sullivan, the very man Georgia used to have a crush on.

"No one, just an old friend." Georgia didn’t dare tell the truth. "By the way, did you need something?"

"Can’t I call you even if I don’t need anything?"

"Of course not!"

Hearing how unhappy Elliot was, Georgia quickly refuted.

"What are you doing right now?"

They both spoke at almost the exact same time, their voices overlapping before falling silent together.

After a moment of silence, Georgia looked down at the ring on her hand. "I ran into someone at home today."

"Justin Sullivan?"

"Mhm."

Georgia replied sullenly. At that moment, Elliot, sitting in his living room, furrowed his brow.

’I knew it was him.’

"What did he want?"

"Nothing much. He just wanted to see me... and wants to go back to how we were before."

Georgia just wanted someone to talk to; otherwise, the sadness in her heart would be overwhelming.

But she had accidentally picked the wrong person, forgetting that Elliot was a jealous man.

As expected, Elliot’s voice turned sour. "Georgia Thorne, are you planning on cheating on me right under my nose?"

His voice was so sinister that even though Elliot wasn’t standing in front of her, Georgia felt a cold chill run down her spine.

Only then did she realize her mistake. "Of course not!" she said frantically.

"Then how did you respond to Justin Sullivan?!"

"...I didn’t say anything!"

Elliot was about to die from anger at Georgia’s denseness. ’Not saying anything just gives people more room for imagination!’

"Idiot! Next time Justin asks you that, you reply with one word: Scram!"

"..."

Georgia’s scalp tingled. She could feel Elliot’s towering rage; she had accidentally touched a nerve.

’I’m so dead!’

"Honey, what did you have for dinner tonight?" Georgia hurriedly changed the subject, her tone wheedling and coquettish.

The man’s voice was laced with acid. "You were too busy being lovey-dovey with your old flame. Do you have any energy left to care what your husband ate?!"

Just the thought of Georgia and Justin eating at the same table was enough to make him full of rage!

Georgia gave an awkward laugh. Elliot really was furious.

’I didn’t expect this either.’

While on the phone with Elliot, it took a thousand pleas and cajoling words before he finally cheered up.

Elliot snorted. "I’ll deal with you properly when you get back!"

「The next day」

After finishing breakfast at home, Georgia left.

On her way back, she received a call from Preston Larkin, who told her that her work had passed the initial screening.

Georgia was confident in herself. ’All that time I spent studying under Seraphina Goldsmith in Akashima wasn’t for nothing.’

Preston Larkin had seen her competition entry; it was no surprise that it stood out among the many lackluster submissions.

He showered Georgia with praise, saying that as long as she worked hard, she could definitely make it to the finals.

He had high hopes for Georgia. It could be said that she was the best student he had taught in years, not even inferior to Nathan Rhodes.

’Why didn’t I discover such a genius when she was still in school?’

Georgia just smiled. After the initial screening, there were still preliminary rounds, secondary rounds, and more. A huge number of people would be eliminated. It was far too early to talk about reaching the final competition.

Preston Larkin emailed her the list of those who passed the screening, as well as the theme for the next round of the competition.

Georgia didn’t rush to open the email. Thinking about how seeing Justin last night had angered Elliot, and seeing as she had some free time today...

She opened WeChat and sent Elliot a voice message.

Elliot was in the middle of a meeting when his phone suddenly lit up. He tapped his index finger on the table. "Pause the meeting!"

Angus Sawyer was wondering what was going on when he saw Elliot walk out of the conference room with a stern face.

He left his subordinates behind to stare at each other in bewilderment. ’What’s wrong with the CEO now?’

"Is there anything you’d like to eat tonight?"

As Elliot listened to Georgia’s voice message, his brow relaxed slightly. ’Is she trying to butter me up?’

But then it occurred to him that she was only doing this because of Justin, and his brow furrowed again.

Just as he was about to arrogantly fire back a string of exclamation marks, Georgia suddenly sent a picture.

The picture was a photo Georgia had taken of a large pile of radishes and leafy greens, asking him what he wanted to eat.

Elliot was so angry he gnashed his teeth. He dialed her number. "I want a meat feast!"

Georgia was wandering around the supermarket alone. She hadn’t bought many vegetables, but she had bought plenty of snacks.

"A meat feast? Do you want pork, chicken, beef, or lamb?" Georgia asked.

She only knew how to cook the most basic dishes; anything fancy was beyond her.

"I want to eat human flesh!"

"Human flesh? That’s illegal!" Georgia’s mind was slow to catch on, and she replied foolishly.

"It’s not illegal. It’s perfectly natural and proper!"

His husky voice was tinged with seduction, and the foolish Georgia instantly understood what he meant.

Thinking back to what she’d said yesterday, she realized she really had made Elliot angry.

This time, she wasn’t as shy as before. She glanced around furtively; no one was looking at her.

Blushing, she said, "You can have it when I get back."

Her heart pounded, and she bit her lower lip hard, unable to suppress her feelings.

"Really?"

"I’m not lying!"

Georgia’s voice was soft and gentle, a balm to Elliot’s heart that instantly soothed him.
