Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife

Chapter 219 - 209: When Did You Get Together With My Second Uncle (Part 1)

Her parents were like that, and now her most trusted best friend was too.

Selena Sheridan recalled Elliot Sheridan’s icy glare. "When did you and my Second Uncle get together?!"

’It must have been for a long time,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, why would my Second Uncle have married Georgia Thorne so easily?’

However, when Georgia Thorne said it had been four years, Selena Sheridan was truly stunned.

Four years?

They’d been together for four years, and she hadn’t known a thing?

Selena Sheridan truly felt that her Second Uncle had hidden Georgia Thorne away deeply. It was impressive.

While Selena Sheridan admired her Second Uncle, she was also frightened by the depth of his schemes. He was a man of profound cunning.

She was genuinely afraid Georgia Thorne was going to be horribly deceived by her Second Uncle.

Selena Sheridan didn’t know what to say. She was definitely awkward around Georgia Thorne now, but she also had to yield to Elliot Sheridan’s tyrannical power and didn’t dare utter a single complaint.

Georgia Thorne was in the kitchen cooking, while Selena Sheridan sat ramrod straight in front of Elliot Sheridan.

She called out timidly, "Second Uncle."

"What did you say to her just now?"

’I knew it. My Second Uncle was going to interrogate me.’

Selena Sheridan shook her head. "We just went over how long you two have known each other."

She lifted her head and secretly studied Elliot Sheridan’s expression.

She heard him say, "Selena, you’re not a kid anymore. You’ve been in relationships, so you know what it’s like when feelings are hard to control. That’s how it is with Georgia Thorne and me. We’ve already been to the Civil Affairs Bureau, and we can’t go a second time. It doesn’t matter if you accept it or not; I don’t have a problem either way."

Elliot Sheridan had made himself perfectly clear, and Selena Sheridan understood him perfectly.

With her head bowed low, she understood. ’They’re not just mutually in love; they’re also not going to get a divorce just because other people don’t approve of them being together.’

"But Second Uncle, when you two are together, don’t you feel like there are a few generation gaps between you?!"

Age was Elliot Sheridan’s sore spot.

When she saw Elliot Sheridan’s face darken, Selena Sheridan knew she had stepped on his landmine. A bone-chilling fear crept over her.

Once again, she sincerely admired Georgia Thorne’s death-defying spirit.

How did she have the courage to spend day and night with her Second Uncle?

However, during the meal, Selena Sheridan was once again so shocked by them that her jaw dropped.

She was used to seeing Elliot Sheridan’s expressionless, high-and-mighty side, but she had never seen him look so gentle and considerate.

It was like pigs were about to fly.

Elliot Sheridan was unbelievably considerate toward Georgia Thorne. He personally served her food and even peeled shrimp for her. Selena Sheridan suspected her eyes were playing tricks on her, or that the Elliot Sheridan before her had been possessed by someone else.

She rubbed her eyes and looked up to see her Second Uncle staring at her with his usual icy gaze.

Eyebrows, eyes—it was still her Second Uncle. The man hadn’t changed.

So her Second Uncle could be gentle with a woman after all.

And it was with her own best friend. Oh, wait, no. Now Georgia Thorne was supposed to be her aunt.

Georgia Thorne was already used to Elliot Sheridan’s attentiveness. Lately, he had been pushing her to eat more, and her appetite was gradually increasing.

Eating more was the only way to gain weight, and this was a good start.

After dinner, Selena Sheridan wanted to ask if they could put her up for the night.

Georgia Thorne had no objection. Seeing that Selena Sheridan was speaking to her in the same tone as before, she couldn’t help but breathe a secret sigh of relief.

Little did she know, Selena Sheridan was only acting this way because she had been harshly warned by Elliot Sheridan.

Elliot Sheridan would never agree to Selena Sheridan sleeping there tonight. Wouldn’t that interfere with his baby-making plans?

He was determined to send Selena Sheridan back to the Sheridan Family residence.

Selena Sheridan tried to look for Georgia Thorne, but Elliot Sheridan blocked her view. "I’ll take you home."

She replied resentfully, "Oh!"

Georgia Thorne spoke up, trying to get her to stay. "Why don’t you stay the night!"

At this, Selena Sheridan’s eyes lit up, and she inwardly screamed, ’Yes! Yes! Georgia, just try a little harder to convince me!’

However, after meeting Elliot Sheridan’s sinister gaze, she chickened out again.

"No, it’s fine. I should just go back," Selena Sheridan said, wanting to cry but having no tears.

She had finally found someone who could keep her Second Uncle in check, but before she even had a chance to gloat, she was still the one being suppressed.

Selena Sheridan followed Elliot Sheridan downstairs, reluctantly saying goodbye to Georgia Thorne.

Georgia Thorne felt there was something pitiful in her gaze, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on what it was.

Selena Sheridan sat obediently in the passenger seat, not even daring to breathe too loudly.

Inside, however, her thoughts were in turmoil. ’Once I get back, I’m definitely going to give Grandpa and Grandma an earful about my thick-skinned Second Uncle.’

’He’s an old man with no decency, seducing my best friend! Four years ago, Georgia Thorne had just turned eighteen!’

’For all I know, my Second Uncle started seducing her when she was still a minor.’

’So bad! So, so bad!’

Selena Sheridan shook her head in secret. ’I’m definitely going to tattle on him when I get back!’

Little did she know, the car would stop at a small intersection just before the Sheridan Family estate.

"Second Uncle, we’re not home yet!" Selena Sheridan had a bad feeling.

Elliot Sheridan grunted in acknowledgment. "Don’t tell your grandparents about me marrying Georgia Thorne just yet, understand?"

"Why?" ’But I was planning to go back and tattle on you!’

Elliot Sheridan’s brows furrowed, and his cold, detached gaze made Selena Sheridan’s heart pound with panic.

It was as if he had seen right through her. Her face suddenly flushed, burning hot.

"You are not to reveal a single word about Georgia Thorne, understand!"

Elliot Sheridan said sharply, and Selena Sheridan nodded her head rapidly.

Elliot Sheridan drove the car into the courtyard. When Sharon Ennis and James Sheridan saw their granddaughter get out of the car, the heavy stone that had been weighing on their hearts finally lifted.

When Hillary saw that her daughter was safe and sound, she hugged Selena Sheridan and started to cry. Selena Sheridan began to sob along with her.

The mother and daughter clung to each other, weeping.

Carter Sheridan was also relieved to see his daughter willing to come home, and he let out a short sigh.

Elliot Sheridan didn’t stay long. After dropping off Selena Sheridan, he was ready to head back.

Sharon Ennis hurriedly grabbed her son. "Wait a minute, Mom has something for you!"

She had the butler rush out of the house with a large bag, which Sharon Ennis placed in his car. "Son, you’re getting on in years. Mom made a special trip to consult a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. These are all to boost virility and nourish the kidneys. Don’t say Mom doesn’t care about you!"

Sharon Ennis was treating her son’s baby-making as a top priority.

Elliot Sheridan’s face turned completely black. ’Do I look like I need this kind of thing?’

’Looks like this Chinese New Year, I really will have to bring Georgia Thorne home to show them.’

When Elliot Sheridan returned to the apartment, Georgia Thorne was chatting with her older sister.

Lynn Thorne was now living on her own with her son.

Although she received alimony from the Sutton Family, Lynn Thorne had still found a job for herself.

Georgia Thorne thought there was nothing wrong with a woman being strong and independent. In the past, Lynn Thorne had been too family-oriented and had never gotten a chance to properly understand the world.

Lynn Thorne brought up her ex-husband.

She sighed and said that the mistress’s child was accidentally miscarried. After being ostracized by her parents-in-law, the mistress had left in anger.

It was a total loss for Finn Sutton.

After chatting for a while, Lynn Thorne went to coax her son to sleep.

Before hanging up, Lynn Thorne even had Leah say hello to her.

The childish voice was especially adorable.

Georgia Thorne really liked children; she thought they were all angels.

Elliot Sheridan was very pleased that Georgia Thorne liked children. Seizing the opportunity, he thought it was the perfect time to make a child for them to play with.

Georgia Thorne had just put down her phone when Elliot Sheridan wordlessly pressed her down.

Ever since Selena Sheridan found out that Georgia Thorne and Elliot Sheridan were married, she would come over to chat with Georgia Thorne from time to time.

On one hand, she wanted to ask how she and Elliot Sheridan actually got together; on the other hand, she came to bad-mouth Elliot Sheridan.

But Georgia Thorne didn’t seem to mind much. She remained devoted to Elliot Sheridan, perhaps liking him even more than before.

Selena Sheridan was very confused as she watched Georgia Thorne reply to one of Elliot Sheridan’s messages.

"How come I never realized you liked ancient old men!" Selena Sheridan glanced at their messages and thought her Second Uncle was unbelievably boring.

’They’re deliberately showing off their affection in front of me!’

When Georgia Thorne learned she had passed the next few rounds of the competition, her mood grew even calmer.

That day, she happened to run into Nathan Rhodes at the company, and the two of them went to sit at a coffee shop outside.

"Have you heard from Byron Shaw recently?"

Byron Shaw?

If Nathan Rhodes hadn’t brought him up, she would have almost forgotten about him.

"No," she said, taking a sip of water. "Why?"

Nathan Rhodes gave an awkward smile. "Oh, it’s nothing. I was just asking."

Georgia Thorne smiled, knowing that Nathan Rhodes and Byron Shaw had dated before.

Nathan Rhodes was probably still thinking about Byron Shaw, which was why he was asking her.

She put down her cup. "Actually, Byron Shaw and I aren’t boyfriend and girlfriend. That dinner was an accident. I owe him a favor."

"I know."

Seeing her surprise, Nathan Rhodes smiled and said, "Byron Shaw likes someone. Do you know who King is?"

Seraphina Goldsmith?

Georgia Thorne wasn’t sure. Byron and Seraphina spoke intimately, but they rarely interacted.

They were both people who were hard to read when it came to emotions, so she really couldn’t tell.

Georgia Thorne couldn’t bring herself to mention that she had studied under Seraphina Goldsmith for a while in Akashima, and she was even more embarrassed to admit that it was Byron Shaw who had pulled the strings to make it happen.

"Attorney Shaw is a good person."

"Yes, he really is!"

Nathan Rhodes took a sip of coffee and brought up the competition again.

"Georgia Thorne, you have to give it your all. I heard the prize money for the competition this time is several times higher than usual. Whoever wins the championship is definitely going to become famous."

"The prize money increased? Why?" Georgia Thorne asked curiously. "How come I haven’t heard about this?"

"I heard from the higher-ups that a few companies invested a substantial amount of money into it. This is internal company news. We don’t have the exact figure yet."

From the look on Nathan Rhodes’s face, it must be an astronomical sum.

Georgia Thorne’s expectations for herself weren’t high; she was just hoping to secure her position at the company.

A few more days passed, and it was Georgia Thorne’s birthday.

She had just successfully passed another round of the competition, so Elliot Sheridan said that to celebrate her birthday, he planned to take her away for a while to relax.

Georgia Thorne naturally had no objections and started packing early.

During a weekend get-together with Nancy Hughes and Selena Sheridan, Selena heard that the two of them were going to Elysia.

Her teeth ached with envy. "My Second Uncle is so biased! How come I didn’t see him give me a present for my birthday!"

Selena Sheridan’s birthday was just a week before Georgia Thorne’s.

On that day, Elliot Sheridan had shown up empty-handed, with no gift at all.
