Chapter 251 - 240: First Time Seeing Her

Georgia Thorne was so angry her face changed color. She wanted to have a huge fight with Elliot Sheridan and storm off on bad terms.

But this man didn’t play by the rules.

She gritted her teeth in fury, while he smiled like a perfect gentleman, looking utterly relaxed and pleased with himself.

’If I let him have his way, who knows if he’ll just take a mile!’

But right now, Georgia Thorne had no choice but to do as he said. She was no match for his strength.

Grinding her back teeth, Georgia Thorne reluctantly called out his name. "Elliot Sheridan!"

Elliot Sheridan hummed in satisfaction. Just as promised, he stopped blocking her, stepping aside to let her pass.

Georgia Thorne suspected a trick. She looked at him suspiciously, not daring to move.

Elliot Sheridan chuckled. "If you don’t go now, I won’t let you go at all!"

He was a man of his word!

Hearing this, Georgia Thorne clutched her bag and hurried out.

Elliot Sheridan smiled as he watched her fleeing figure. ’Do I really make her want to run away that badly?’

In truth, he just wanted to hear her say his name.

Elliot Sheridan didn’t leave right away. Instead, he went to Aidan Sheridan’s hospital room.

Aidan Sheridan had regained consciousness, but he was so weak he still needed an oxygen mask.

William was giving him a routine check-up.

"How is he?"

’I used to think Georgia Thorne must be some celestial beauty for Elliot Sheridan to be so protective, refusing to let anyone lay a finger on her.’

But he’d seen Georgia Thorne himself last night. She was... alright. Not stunning, but on closer inspection, you’d notice the girl was actually quite pretty.

’There are a dime a dozen women like Georgia Thorne. I have no idea what wire got crossed in Elliot Sheridan’s brain.’

"What do you think? He’s waiting to die, one way or another!" William’s voice was so quiet that Aidan couldn’t hear him at all.

Elliot Sheridan’s brow furrowed deeper. "Is there really no other way?"

Right now, the only suitable kidney donor they had found was Georgia Thorne.

Elliot Sheridan would never let them operate on Georgia Thorne. If anyone dared to touch her, he’d be the one to cut them down.

"Isn’t this something we’ve known for a long time?" William scoffed, shaking his head.

William thought Elliot Sheridan had come down with a case of madness called Georgia Thorne.

The only way to save Aidan Sheridan was a kidney transplant; there were no other options. This was a conclusion they had reached long ago.

William glanced at him sideways as he heard him ask, "How much longer can he hold on?"

"Hard to say. A month at the least, a year at the most." William stroked his chin. "Dragging this out is just torture for Aidan. If you don’t want to save him, then let him have a quick, clean end. Don’t make him suffer like this anymore!"

While studying abroad, William had spent some time learning with a hospital team in Zaanstad.

In Zaanstad, euthanasia was legal.

Because some patients were in so much pain, unable to bear the torment of their illness, they would choose to control their own life and death.

In truth, it was a form of release for the patient.

Since he couldn’t be saved, it would be better to let Aidan Sheridan die a quick and painless death. That was William’s opinion, but not a single member of The Sheridan Family agreed.

"I won’t let anything happen to him!" Elliot Sheridan clenched his fists. William snorted. "Let’s hope so!"

Georgia Thorne left the hospital and rushed to the office.

Undeniably, the moment she stepped into the company, all sorts of strange and curious gazes fell upon her.

Georgia Thorne clutched her bag strap, lowered her head, and walked toward her desk, only to see a bouquet of luscious, vibrant red roses lying across it.

She picked up the roses, and the chatter in the office grew louder. The moment she looked up, everyone ducked their heads again, pretending to be hard at work.

Tucked inside the roses was a card with a sentence written on it.

Georgia Thorne wasn’t interested in the message. When she saw the name signed below it—Erin Irving—a look of disgust flashed across her calm face. She threw the card and the roses into the trash can.

’Her life was already chaotic enough. What kind of trouble was this Erin Irving trying to stir up now?’

When the others saw Georgia Thorne throw the roses away, some were envious, some were jealous, but most of them thought she was just showing off in a passive-aggressive way.

Erin Irving sent flowers for a whole week. By now, almost everyone in the office knew Georgia Thorne had a lavish suitor.

Laura Chase was very unhappy about this. She said tartly, "Georgia Thorne, don’t you have a husband? Aren’t you afraid he’ll find out you’re cheating with someone sending you flowers so brazenly?"

Georgia Thorne was a low-key person. Even though she was married, she had never gone around announcing her husband’s identity. The only person in the company who knew who her husband was was Nathan Rhodes.

But Georgia Thorne was no pushover. She gave a small smile. "And how do you know my husband didn’t send them?"

It was a beautiful counterattack. Laura Chase was so stumped she couldn’t find a single word to rebut.

But she quickly thought of something else, a look of disdain in her eyes. "Heh, your husband sent them? And you threw them in the trash?"

"Haven’t you ever heard of a little fun between husband and wife?" Georgia Thorne’s smile grew even more radiant, her eyes so clear it was as if these words couldn’t possibly be coming from her. Yet, she enunciated each one clearly. "Oh, I forgot. You’re getting on in years and you don’t even have a boyfriend! No wonder you don’t understand these little games!"

Georgia Thorne said it as if it were a great pity, but there wasn’t a trace of sympathy on her face.

Her temper might have mellowed, but that didn’t mean she was easy to bully.

Among the new hires, besides Summer Bloom, who was a man, everyone else was female. And of the remaining women, Laura Chase was the oldest.

A woman nearly thirty, just starting at the company, without even a man in her life—Georgia Thorne had hit a sore spot.

She had wanted to mock Georgia Thorne, but instead, Georgia had turned it around, calling her old and unwanted. Her face turned pale with anger.

A woman’s age was a taboo subject, and Georgia Thorne had just publicly shamed her in front of so many people.

Her manicured nails dug into her palm. She wished she were squeezing Georgia Thorne’s neck. Finally, she spat out resentfully, "You’re just a plagiarist! What’s there to be so proud of!"

She would get her revenge for this, sooner or later.

The crowd had witnessed a good show. Georgia Thorne, who should have been at a disadvantage, had turned the tables and driven Laura Chase away in a fury. It turned out the seemingly gentle Georgia Thorne had a backbone of steel.

After dealing with Laura Chase, Georgia Thorne’s smile vanished. She sat in her chair, staring at the roses in the trash can.

Erin Irving had been sending these flowers for a week. It was one thing for him not to show up in person, but he hadn’t even called. ’What exactly is he planning?’

For the past few days, Georgia Thorne had been busy with the exhibition, still running errands and, on occasion, waiting on the celebrity, Iris Warner.

The final rehearsal was in the afternoon, and the official event would begin in the evening.

At noon, just as Seth Shields and his team arrived at the venue, a group of female models had already changed into their outfits.

Georgia Thorne was helping them adjust their clothes when, a short while later, Iris Warner arrived.

Iris Warner wore a fiery red gown that, paired with her fair skin, radiant makeup, and seductive figure, captured the attention of many men in the room.

She was dressed just right—not too ostentatious, not too conservative. Exactly the type men liked.

Supported by her assistant, she entered the dressing room.

Georgia Thorne brought over the outfit for the show. "Miss Warner, this is the outfit for today."

Iris Warner took a sip of water and had her assistant touch up her makeup. Without even a sideways glance, she said flatly, "I’m not wearing it!"

"Huh?"

"I’m wearing what I have on!" Iris Warner looked at the dress she was wearing with a brilliant smile. She had put it on specially for today.

"But Miss Warner, this show is meant to feature our company’s clothes and jewelry. You..."

"Why are you so chatty? I’ll wear the jewelry, but forget the clothes!" Iris Warner glared impatiently at the dress in Georgia’s hands. "It’s hideous! Who would wear that?"

Iris Warner was the type of celebrity who acted sweet, cute, and demure in public, but the moment she was behind the scenes, she would flip out over the slightest annoyance.

Georgia Thorne had seen through her completely these past few days and felt even more sympathy for Iris Warner’s assistant.

Georgia Thorne wasted her breath trying to persuade her, but Iris Warner wouldn’t listen. She simply refused to wear it.

With no other choice, Georgia Thorne had to go get Seth Shields.

Seth Shields was also anxious. The show was starting tonight; they couldn’t afford to drop the ball at such a critical moment.

Iris Warner’s attitude toward Seth Shields was slightly better, but she remained firm. No matter how he tried to persuade her, she would not change her clothes.

She even tried to sound reasonable. "Is the dress I’m wearing not beautiful? It was personally designed by your company’s Designer Rhodes!"

"Of course it’s beautiful, Miss Warner. But your dress doesn’t fit our theme."

The one who finally settled the matter with Iris Warner was none other than Erin Irving, the man who had been sending Georgia Thorne flowers for seven straight days.

The moment the debonair man appeared, there was nothing left for anyone else to do. Georgia Thorne and Seth Shields tactfully started to leave.

However, before Georgia Thorne could get out, Erin Irving called out to them, "Wait!"

Georgia Thorne’s heart pounded furiously. She was terrified Erin Irving would ask her something in public. Her eyes met his, which held a ghost of a smile, and his smile only deepened.

Iris Warner already held a certain animosity toward Georgia Thorne, partly because Erin Irving had once asked his assistant to get Georgia a chair.

Her glamorous eyes glared at Georgia Thorne like a predator. Georgia averted her gaze and looked away.

Erin Irving burst out laughing. In the end, he called Seth Shields’s name. "Since Miss Warner is changing, let’s step out together!"

"Yes, yes, President Irving, after you!" Seth Shields bowed, acting like a complete sycophant toward Erin Irving.

Georgia Thorne breathed a sigh of relief. ’Thank goodness he wasn’t calling for me.’

Iris Warner seemed resentful, her eyes fixed on Georgia Thorne as if in silent accusation.

Georgia Thorne quickly backed out. "Miss Warner, please get changed!"

They say women in the entertainment industry are trouble, and it’s true.

With Erin Irving’s intervention, Iris Warner obediently changed into the same outfit as the others, though she looked at it with considerable disdain. She still preferred her red dress.

The afternoon rehearsal began. Georgia Thorne found a spot far away from Erin Irving, hoping to avoid a repeat of last time.

Unfortunately, Erin Irving had his sights set on Georgia Thorne. This time, he didn’t send his secretary over; he went over himself.
