Chapter 252 - 241: Mr. Sheridan, She Is the Woman I’m Pursuing 1
Georgia kept trying to dodge him, but he kept getting closer, backing her into a corner.
Georgia straightened her back, sidestepped away from Erin Irving, and greeted him respectfully. "President Irving!"
"Don’t you like roses?"
Erin Irving’s thoughts jumped around so quickly that Georgia was stunned for a moment before she realized what he was talking about.
Her cool face showed little emotion. "I don’t!"
"Then what do you like? I’ll send you something else next time," Erin Irving said with a light laugh. "Blue enchantress roses? Hyacinths?"
Georgia’s head ached just listening to him. Erin Irving had been sending her flowers for a week straight. If he kept it up, she was going to lose her mind.
"President Irving, I like roses, but I don’t like the roses *you* send me!" she said, enunciating every word. ’He should get the hint now!’
Erin Irving blinked. "In that case, I’ll send you something else next time!"
Georgia was speechless. ’Did this man not hear a single word I said?!’
"President Irving, what is the meaning of this!"
"Can’t you tell?" Erin Irving stroked his chin, feigning confusion, and said in a deadpan voice, "I’m pursuing you."
Georgia nearly died of shock at Erin Irving’s words. He was pursuing her? Was this some kind of joke?
Unfortunately, she couldn’t find a hint of a joke in Erin Irving’s eyes.
Georgia took a deep breath. "Thank you for your admiration, President Irving, but I’m already married!"
She held up her hand, waggling the ring on her ring finger at him. In a critical moment like this, she had to rely on it to ward off this unwanted attention.
Erin Irving glanced at the simple ring. "What does you being married have to do with me sending you flowers?"
Georgia was speechless. The man was clearly just being difficult. She was too angry to even speak to him and turned to leave.
But just as she turned, Erin Irving grabbed her wrist and pulled. Georgia’s vision blurred, and the next second, her furious face was buried in his chest.
He smelled completely different from Elliot Sheridan—an indescribable scent, a little neurotic like the man himself. Georgia struggled furiously.
Then she heard the man’s voice, as tender as water, "Georgia, you are so beautiful!"
Hearing those words from Erin Irving’s mouth utterly disgusted Georgia.
She looked up, only to meet his even gentler smile.
"What are you..."
"Mr. Sheridan, what brings you here so early?"
Georgia was just about to question him when Erin Irving suddenly let her go and addressed the man in front of them.
Georgia turned, her gaze falling upon Elliot Sheridan. She hadn’t expected it to actually be him.
He was dressed in a sharp black suit, his arrogant, icy eyes narrowed slightly. He seemed displeased, yet at the same time, devoid of any emotion.
Outwardly, Elliot Sheridan was a placid sea, but inwardly, a storm of rage was brewing. He wanted nothing more than to personally rip Georgia from Erin Irving’s grasp.
’That bastard! He actually pulled Georgia into his arms!’
A vein throbbed at his temple, and the cold aura radiating from him intensified.
Owen Sawyer, trailing behind him, was practically scared to death. It was hard to imagine a worse situation.
The two men were already mortal enemies. With Georgia Thorne between them, Elliot Sheridan might just snap and start a scene with Erin Irving, which would mean the net they had cast would have all been for nothing.
Georgia’s first instinct was to run, but Erin Irving had a firm grip on her wrist. She couldn’t escape even if she wanted to.
Elliot had a fire of suppressed anger burning in his chest, but seeing Georgia’s small struggles brought him a sliver of relief.
He was a man of few words and fewer smiles to outsiders. His cold gaze shifted from Georgia to Erin Irving’s face. "I happened to have some business nearby, so I dropped in."
"Well, Mr. Sheridan, you’re quite early. We’re still in the middle of rehearsal, aren’t we, Georgia?" Erin Irving smiled, then looked down, shifting the topic back to her.
Georgia was mortified. Unsure whether to answer or not, she lowered her head and remained silent.
The hand Erin Irving was holding struggled even harder. He released it, only to wrap his arm around her waist instead. "Apologies, she’s a bit shy. I hope you don’t mind, Mr. Sheridan!"
Elliot’s brows furrowed slightly, his eyes burning with fury as he looked at Erin Irving. Owen Sawyer watched, his heart pounding, bracing himself mentally and physically.
If Elliot were to openly confront Erin Irving and come to blows, he would have to stop him before it happened.
"Oh, right. Look at my memory, Mr. Sheridan. I forgot to introduce you. This is Georgia Thorne, the woman I’m pursuing. She has a bit of a temper and likes to cause trouble, but she’s absolutely adorable—a truly rare gem of a woman!" Erin Irving praised Georgia without reservation.
As he lavished praise on Georgia, his eyes swept over to Elliot’s face.
He smiled contemptuously. ’The woman in my arms isn’t just anybody; she’s Elliot Sheridan’s fatal weakness.’
Watching Elliot’s brow furrow deeper and deeper, Erin Irving felt a sense of satisfaction. ’This is so much fun!’
’Honestly, I’d really love to see Elliot Sheridan flustered and helpless for once!’
Elliot couldn’t care less about their business rivalries. Erin Irving could mess with anything else he owned, but Georgia was off-limits.
Rage erupted in his chest. He took a step forward, and Owen Sawyer hastily called out, "President!"
Georgia looked up at him. Seeing his tense eyes, she knew with a single glance that he was angry.
’Is it because I’m too close to Erin Irving? He warned me a long time ago not to get close to him.’
An intense gaze shot out from the depths of his eyes. Georgia eventually turned her head away, avoiding his stare.
The meaning in his eyes was too obvious. He was warning her not to be with Erin Irving!
Owen Sawyer’s shout came at the perfect moment. A group of people entered through the doorway, among them Joanne Donovan and Quincy Rhodes.
Quincy Rhodes was running for election and, unable to get ahold of Elliot Sheridan, had decided to turn his attention to Erin Irving instead.
And Erin Irving, being a straightforward person, had organized tonight’s event without a second thought—a clothing and jewelry exhibition that was also a charity show for high society.
Accompanying Quincy Rhodes were several other political bigwigs. Joanne Donovan was by their side, her gentle demeanor earning praise from those around them.
Joanne Donovan had come today not just for charity; her main purpose was that she had heard Elliot Sheridan would be attending.
’I sent him an invitation and thought he wouldn’t show up. But here he is after all!’
Always confident, Joanne Donovan took delicate steps and glided toward the two men.
"President Irving. Elliot!" Joanne Donovan greeted them breezily, a beautiful smile playing on her lips.
Georgia took a step back, subconsciously wanting to leave.
But how could Erin Irving let her go so easily? He tightened his grip on her. "Miss Donovan, long time no see!"
Joanne Donovan instinctively moved closer to Elliot Sheridan, but he sidestepped her. "Apologies, I have something to attend to."
Without a single glance at Joanne Donovan, Elliot slid one hand into his pants pocket and walked away.
Left hanging in public, Joanne Donovan gave an unnatural smile. It was Erin Irving who saved her from the awkwardness. "Miss Donovan, you look truly stunning today!"
Joanne Donovan smiled nonchalantly, her gaze falling on Georgia. "And this is?"
Of course, Joanne Donovan knew who Georgia Thorne was. She was the woman Zane Lennox had almost married. It was just that...
"This is Georgia Thorne, the object of my affections!" Erin Irving introduced her without the slightest hesitation.
Some people had already overheard Erin Irving’s introduction earlier, and hearing it again now only amplified their shock.
’Isn’t Georgia Thorne married? And Erin Irving is still pursuing her?’
’What on earth does he see in her?’
Facing the crowd’s judgmental stares, Georgia calmly shook off Erin Irving’s arm. "I’m sorry, President Irving. I am now formally rejecting your pursuit. Thank you for the admiration!"
Georgia didn’t care whether she was embarrassing Erin Irving. A sudden, intense frustration washed over her, likely because of the look Elliot had given her earlier.
They were husband and wife, yet in front of everyone, they were worse than strangers.
At least this Erin Irving had the guts to announce he was pursuing her in public.
Georgia hid in a dressing room. She was all alone.
Just now, she had passed by Elliot Sheridan. He was talking cordially with Mayor Rhodes, while the gentle and beautiful Joanne Donovan stood at his side. ’The mayor is probably still trying to push his daughter on Elliot,’ she thought.
Georgia sat in the dressing room for a while. She heard voices outside, and a moment later, Iris Warner and her assistant came in.
Iris Warner took a sip of water and glared at Georgia, her eyes blazing with fire. She had been on stage earlier and heard everything—how Erin Irving had announced in front of everyone that he was pursuing Georgia.
If Erin Irving was pursuing this nobody, where did that leave her, Iris Warner? How could she show her face?
Unable to swallow her pride, the anger stuck in her chest. She pointed imperiously at Georgia. "What are you doing just standing there? Hurry up and get me some water!"
During rehearsals over the past few days, Georgia had heard quite a few things about Iris Warner and Erin Irving.
There were plenty of beautiful women these days, but few could skyrocket to fame like Iris Warner. Perfect timing and favorable conditions weren’t enough; you needed other methods.
The fact that Iris Warner was so famous had a lot to do with Erin Irving.
Rumor had it that Iris had been made famous single-handedly by Erin Irving, and naturally, their relationship was thought to be quite close.
People even thought Iris Warner had successfully won Erin Irving over. Everyone assumed they were a couple.
Clearly, Erin Irving’s words today had surprised everyone.
Georgia sneered. ’She just had a drink of water, and now she wants me to get her more. She’s obviously just trying to give me a hard time.’
Georgia went to a nearby convenience store and came back with a bottle of mineral water. Iris Warner didn’t even glance at it, letting her assistant continue to file her nails. "I’m suddenly in the mood for coffee. Go buy me a cup."
"Alright, please wait a moment." Georgia showed no sign of complaint and turned to leave.
Iris Warner was deliberately trying to wear her out. Georgia had to run back and forth seven or eight times before Iris finally let her be.
She had just been on an IV drip at the hospital last night, and now she was running all over the place today. Her body hadn’t fully recovered. Now that she finally had a moment’s peace, she found an inconspicuous spot to rest.
