Chapter 134 - 132: Mailing Qiao Siyuan’s Bones

Jiang Li heard the commotion and walked out. "I didn’t order anything online."

Wu Ming stared grimly at the wooden crate, which was nailed shut. "Jiang Li, you should probably call the police. Whatever’s in here isn’t normal."

Wu Ming took a yellow talisman from her bag and stuck it on.

Jiang Li took out her phone to call Ji Qinghe. The next second, a familiar wooden tag fell out from between the planks of the crate.

The corner of Jiang Li’s mouth twitched. ’Don’t tell me Qiao Siyuan is in here?’

"Let’s just take it to the police station. Officer Ji and her team are probably busy."

As she spoke, Jiang Li moved to lift the crate.

"Sister, let me." Miao Anji eagerly stepped forward. ’This is great nourishment for my Gu.’

Knowing what Miao Anji intended to do, Wu Ming quickly stepped aside. This sort of thing was useless to her, so letting Miao Anji handle it was fine.

The moment Miao Anji lifted the crate, his Gu Worms scurried through the cracks and into the box.

Jiang Li picked up the wooden tag from the floor. The moment it was in her hand, she could clearly feel that something was different.

"Qiao Siyuan is dead, so the presence on it has dissipated. He’s probably moved on to be reincarnated," Wu Ming said, smiling at Jiang Li.

"Ah, I see."

"Let’s get going. Don’t we still have to go to the hospital?" Wu Ming said, looping her arm through Jiang Li’s as they headed out.

Miao Anji and Yu Huannian followed close behind.

At the police station, Miao Anji placed the wooden crate on a table. "Officer Ji, someone sent Jiang Li a malicious package."

Ji Qinghe looked at the unopened crate on the table and breathed a sigh of relief.

"We need Forensic Doctor Qin. There are probably human bones in here."

Ji Qinghe hurried off to get Qin Shu.

Qin Shu walked out with an excited look on her face. In all her years on the job, she had seen packages containing dead rats, severed hands, and even explosives.

But a delivery of human bones? That was a first.

Qin Shu put on her gloves, picked up her tools, and began to pry open the crate. As the wooden planks were pried off one by one, the contents were revealed.

Blackened bones and a skull came into view.

A white cloth was spread out nearby, and Qin Shu began to assemble them.

"It’s a complete skeleton. Judging by the structure, it belonged to a male. As for the identity, that will have to be confirmed."

Qin Shu placed the final hand bone in position.

"It must be Qiao Siyuan’s. They probably sent it to warn me to mind my own business."

Jiang Li walked to the side and sat down. ’Everything was fine until yesterday. Then those people showed up, and today, this package arrives. Jiang Sheng must be connected to them.’

Qin Shu and Ji Qinghe exchanged a surprised glance. It really was that scumbag Qiao Siyuan’s skeleton.

Qin Shu and a colleague took the bones away for analysis.

"Jiang Li, we’ll have someone look into this and find out who sent it. You all should be extra careful for a while." Ji Qinghe gestured for an officer to take the crate away for examination.

"Alright, Officer Ji. We have to go to the hospital, so we’ll get going."

Jiang Li left for the hospital with the others.

After arriving at the hospital, Jiang Li first went to check on Ruan Zhixia.

"Rest assured, Miss Jiang. Miss Ruan should wake up in a few more days."

"Okay, thank you, Doctor. If her medical expenses become an issue, please contact me anytime."

After that, Jiang Li went to Du Xueqing’s hospital room.

Du Xueqing, completely unaware of the recent events, greeted Jiang Li happily when she arrived.

"Sister Jiang."

Jiang Li looked at Du Xueqing. Her condition was much improved from the first time they met.

Jiang Li sat down and waited for her to finish breakfast before telling Du Xueqing about Jiang Shuran and the others.

The smile on Du Xueqing’s face instantly froze, and her hands involuntarily tightened their grip on the blanket.

"Officer Ji asked me to come and ask you: do you want to transfer schools after you’re discharged, or do you want to give them a taste of their own medicine?"

Du Xueqing’s tense body trembled. An eye for an eye... for her, that seemed like an impossible task. But she knew that backing down would only embolden them.

"There’s no rush. You can think it over. Being alive is what’s most important."

Jiang Li patted Du Xueqing’s back comfortingly and briefly outlined a possible course of action, trying to avoid putting more pressure on her.

"Okay, I understand. Thank you, Sister Jiang."

Du Xueqing looked at Jiang Li hesitantly. "Sister Jiang, my parents... they haven’t been making a fuss, have they?"

’Knowing them, there’s no way they’d be this quiet.’

Jiang Li pressed her lips together, then reached out and patted the girl’s head. "It’s not your fault. Even if they make a big scene, they’ll only end up paying the price."

Du Xueqing was stunned for a moment. ’Is that really possible?’

"I understand, Sister Jiang. I... for the time being, I don’t want to transfer."

’I’m a minor too. If they can do it, so can I.’

"Okay, then I’ll talk to Officer Ji and her team. We’ll do everything we can to guarantee your safety. But if, by any chance..." Jiang Li turned to look at her. ’What if it costs you your life?’

Du Xueqing took a deep breath. She had made up her mind. If she might die either way, she might as well put up a fight.

"Sister Jiang, even if it means dying, I have to take this chance," Du Xueqing said, looking at Jiang Li with a determined gaze.

’Jiang Shuran and her group would never let me go. Transferring schools would be useless.’

"Alright. If you need help with anything, contact me anytime."

Jiang Li handed her a new phone.

Du Xueqing looked up at her in surprise. "Sister Jiang, I can’t take this."

"How are you going to contact me without a phone? There’s 100,000 yuan in it. Think of it as me sponsoring you. If you can truly pull yourself out of this, it won’t be too late to pay me back."

Du Xueqing looked at the phone in her hand, so moved that tears streamed down her face. Her parents had never treated her like this.

"Sister Jiang, I swear I’ll survive, work hard, and repay you."

"Your survival will be the best repayment I could ask for."

Jiang Li got up and walked out.

Huo Qing was sitting on a bench with a few other officers. When he saw Jiang Li come out, he greeted her. "Jiang Li, long time no see. When are you going to come visit us at the station?"

Huo Qing forced a smile as he looked at Jiang Li.

"Officer Huo, your smile is pretty creepy," Wu Ming teased, looking at Huo Qing. ’If you don’t like smiling, don’t force it.’

Huo Qing’s expression soured instantly. He shot Wu Ming a glare. ’So impolite.’

"We’ve got an update on Du Wenhua. Before Jiang Sheng’s group went to the station, they approached Du Wenhua and his wife. They gave them one million yuan, and Du Wenhua signed a settlement agreement."

Jiang Li couldn’t process it for a moment. Liu Liping and her husband considered the college entrance exams so important that they were willing to drive Du Xueqing to a mental breakdown.

Even when Du Xueqing was hospitalized, they still acted as if she was the one who didn’t appreciate all their tough love.

And yet, in the end, they took the money and let the whole thing go. Suddenly, the college entrance exams weren’t so important anymore.

How ironic.

Jiang Li turned her head and glanced toward the hospital room. Du Xueqing had the phone now; there was no hiding this from her.

That evening, Jiang Li brought a meal prepared by Yu Huannian to Du Xueqing.

Du Xueqing watched her open the food containers and gulped.

’My parents never let me eat food this good. And it smells so delicious.’

"Thank you, Sister Jiang."

Du Xueqing took the bowl and couldn’t help but start wolfing down the food.

Jiang Li leaned against a nearby wall, a wave of drowsiness washing over her.

After she had eaten her fill, Du Xueqing looked up and froze for a second, seeing the sleeping Jiang Li.

A moment later, her expression twisted, and her eyes fixed on Jiang Li with a vicious glare.

’Damn woman. If it weren’t for her, I would’ve become the master of this body long ago.’

’Du Xueqing’ picked up a nearby knife and slowly advanced on Jiang Li.

’This woman has the aura of my kind. Why does she have to meddle?’

A resolute look flashed in ’Du Xueqing’s’ eyes. She tightened her grip on the knife and lunged at Jiang Li.

’Once she’s dead, that weakling Du Xueqing will have no one left to support her. She’ll naturally hand her body over to me.’
