Chapter 546: What Right Do I Have to Bear Your Child?
Evelyn opened her mouth, wanting to retort, but what Caden Lockwood said was indeed right.
Evelyn’s eyes dimmed as she looked at Caden and softly asked, "What will you do if I’m pregnant?"
Caden didn’t answer Evelyn’s question, but instead asked back, "What do you plan to do?"
Hearing this, the corners of Evelyn’s lips awkwardly twitched.
She felt she was really powerless!
Every time, Caden would ask her questions, and he rarely answered hers honestly.
Taking a deep breath, Evelyn simply replied, "I don’t know what to do, but at least, I truly don’t want to have a child. Not only because I’m too young now, but also because I feel I’m not qualified to form a family of three with you."
"You’re not qualified?" A deep something flashed in Caden’s dark eyes, "Then who is qualified?"
"I really am not." Evelyn met Caden’s gaze, "You have so many secrets, and I know very little, especially since the Lockwood Family hasn’t accepted me yet. What right do I have to bear your child?"
"Since it’s to bear my child, as long as I’m willing, it’s fine." Caden’s tone wasn’t kind, "Why do you care about others?"
"But..."
"Let’s go!" Caden took Evelyn’s hand, wrapping it in his palm, "Let’s do a checkup first."
Evelyn let Caden lead her, surrounded by an aura she couldn’t resist, making her act according to his wishes.
Inwardly, Evelyn sighed heavily.
Every time she resolved to confront Caden properly, she always found out that she couldn’t do anything about him!
A man like him, strong and domineering, a woman in his life can only obey, right?
But... a child?
Evelyn was genuinely scared.
She involuntarily lowered her head, looking at her abdomen. Could it really be nurturing a child inside?
As she pondered, Evelyn’s entire body shook heavily.
Caden turned his head back at this moment, seeing Evelyn’s uneasy and unwilling expression, his heart silently dropped.
He knew, of course, that Evelyn didn’t want to get pregnant, but he hoped she would.
Once there was a child in her belly, whether a boy or a girl, her life safety would have certain protection.
He was quite worried—how should he persuade her?
Caden accompanied Evelyn to the ultrasound room. Looking at the machine that would soon test for pregnancy, Evelyn’s heart was in rejection.
She was conflicted.
She knew she had to learn the results, yet she feared knowing them.
Under Caden’s threatening yet encouraging gaze, Evelyn finally lay on the examination bed, looking at the doctor, her heart pounding, as if it would leap out.
Caden couldn’t help holding Evelyn’s hand, speaking softly, "Don’t be afraid, it’s just a very ordinary check."
Evelyn pursed her lips, replying in her heart: How can I not be afraid?
After all, this ordinary check could result in something far from ordinary!
At the thought that she might already be pregnant, goosebumps rose all over Evelyn.
However, when the warmth of Caden’s palm came, Evelyn finally felt some peace.
After all, regardless of the result, she must face it immediately.
