Slowly Falling into His Love Trap

Evelyn’s heart was in her throat, not hearing L’s reply.

She hated how these people clearly wanted her to ask, but after she asked, they wouldn’t answer.

Were they playing with her?

"Not going to answer?" Evelyn said with a harsh tone, "Then forget it, let’s pretend I never called."

"Evelyn!" L immediately called out to her, "It’s not that I won’t tell you, but some things, not telling you is for your own good."

"Don’t use that excuse on me!" Evelyn replied coldly, "If you want to answer, go ahead. If not, I’m not forcing you. But don’t say it’s for my own good, it makes me sick!"

Hearing Evelyn’s unhappy tone, L forced a chuckle.

This girl, how has she kept the same temper since childhood?

Now at twenty, she’s an adult, yet how can she still be so childish?

However, she hasn’t changed, still kind and wonderful as before, which is the most comforting thing to him!

"Even if I say something, would you believe me?" L asked, "Evelyn, you don’t believe me. You called just to hear my answer. But in your heart, you still firmly believe in Caden Lockwood."

Listening to L’s accurate analysis, Evelyn’s lips awkwardly curled up, not knowing what to say.

She felt unsettled inside, which is why she reached out to L for clarity.

"A grudge?" Evelyn scoffed, "Then tell me, what grudge is there between my brother and Caden?"

"First, tell me, whose side would you stand on?" L asked.

"I haven’t seen my brother in years, and now he doesn’t even acknowledge me. Though we share the same blood and I believe he was a good person before, how can I be sure he still is?" Evelyn spoke candidly.

After a pause, she continued, "But I’ve known Caden for a long time, and I understand he’s a good person. And there’s no way he could do something bad!"

L suddenly raised his voice: "How can you say he wouldn’t do something bad?"

He then almost roared: "There’s not a good person in The Lockwood Family! Evelyn, you’ve been deceived! You’ve been deceived, do you understand? You won’t even believe your closest brother, but you would help a bad person? I’m so disappointed in you! Your parents in the afterlife would regret having you, seeing you speak for the enemy!"
