Slowly Falling into His Love Trap

After speaking, Evelyn and L were both stunned.

L was surprised that he lost control of his emotions because of Evelyn’s words, completely losing his composure.

And Evelyn was equally astonished—could it be true what L said about there being enmity between her brother and Caden Lockwood?

Evelyn even lightened her breathing, wanting to ask what kind of grievance existed between her brother and Caden Lockwood.

Yet this truth, she dared not even touch upon.

What should she do?

Earlier, she had spoken those words without much thought.

But if what L said was true, would she really have to abandon her brother?

Even though she hadn’t seen her brother for so many years, he was the closest person to her in this world.

Moreover, when she was young, her brother indeed took special care of her.

Evelyn couldn’t believe that a brother who was so good to her when they were small would now become a bad person.

And yet... Caden Lockwood isn’t a bad person either!

Or could the hatred between Caden Lockwood and her brother be merely a business matter?

Evelyn hoped the resentment wasn’t too great.

If the hatred between her brother and Caden Lockwood could truly be resolved, how could Caden Lockwood possibly keep her brother’s matters from her, and why wouldn’t her brother come to recognize her as his sister, choosing instead to let L use schemes to make her leave Caden Lockwood?

Evelyn couldn’t help but wonder: who exactly is L?

After a long period of silence, L spoke first: "Don’t overthink."

The thing he hoped for least was to bring Evelyn into such complicated matters.

Evelyn lowered her gaze, her mind already a mess; how could she not think too much?

"If... if you truly know my brother." Evelyn bit her lip, her voice small, filled with rich anxiety, "Then please help me deliver a message to him."

"Speak," L said solemnly, his heart involuntarily clenching.

"I miss him a lot," Evelyn softly confessed, "I hope he can come to recognize me."

"He misses you deeply as well," L’s tone choked unintentionally, "Moreover, he’s told me more than once how sorry he is about losing you back then. He also sincerely hopes you live well, and that’s why he wants you to leave Caden Lockwood."

"Being with Caden, I’ve already had a good life," Evelyn softly admitted, "Furthermore, back then... Can you tell me why he never came back for me? Did he abandon me on purpose?"

"How could he possibly abandon you on purpose!" L cried out.

After a moment of hesitation, L added: "He knew you were hungry, so he wanted to steal something for you to eat but was unfortunately captured by kidnappers; he couldn’t break free. Evelyn, you’re fortunate to be alive!"

Upon hearing this, Evelyn’s eyes couldn’t help but mist over.

She quickly asked, "Is he... doing well now?"

Actually, she’s always been worried, fearing her brother had purposely abandoned her back then.

Now, she finally understood what her brother experienced, yet it pained her greatly.

Her brother was kidnapped?

Over these years, her brother must have lived terribly!

"He’s doing well," L assured confidently, "You don’t need to worry about him."

After a moment’s hesitation, L gently continued: "If you miss him, as long as you leave Caden Lockwood, you siblings... can be reunited."

His voice carried with it a dense sense of tension and anticipation.
