Chapter 625: Fulfilling the Promise, Divorce
Evelyn nodded, her peripheral vision lingering on Caden Lockwood, unable to look him in the eye.
She always remembered, his fist hitting the wall with such fury and force.
He must have gotten hurt!
Did he get it bandaged?
If he didn’t, his hand would surely be in trouble!
This man, why does he like to turn his healthy self into a mess of ailments?
Seeing Evelyn completely ignoring him, Caden looked at the wound on his fist, unconsciously hiding his hand behind his back.
As if, just by not seeing the injury on his hand, he could fool himself into believing that Evelyn still cared about him.
The room fell silent again, and Ashley was the first to break the stalemate: "Are you all not going to get her something to eat? Ahem... actually, I’m hungry too."
Caden seemed to remember, "I’ll have Aunt May bring it!"
Then, he got up and went out of the room to make a call.
Only then did Evelyn turn her gaze to Caden, and seeing the wound on his fist, her heart tightened.
Logan Shaw had been watching Evelyn all along, and perhaps as an outsider, he could see clearly that Evelyn’s every thought was about Caden Lockwood.
Caden walked to the door of the ward and dialed Aunt May’s number.
As soon as he spoke, it was to instruct: "Prepare a light lunch for the Young Madam and send it to the hospital. She still isn’t suited for overly nutritious food right now. But she doesn’t like bland food, so try to make some fresh and varied dishes."
After pausing, he added, "Like, egg custard, stir-fried mushrooms with meat, corn stewed ribs, dried fish soup, those dishes she usually loves. Also, bring some fruits and pastries, anything she loves that’s easy on the body, bring it all."
"Young Master..." Aunt May was a bit uneasy.
When had she heard Caden Lockwood speak in such a desolate tone?
Earlier, she had already received news of Evelyn’s accident.
"Are you alright?" Aunt May asked with concern.
"She must be hungry." Caden didn’t answer Aunt May’s question, "Make the meal quickly and send it over."
"Okay!" Aunt May agreed, "Young Master, the Young Madam is fine now. Actually... if you have time, you could make her a loving dinner like last time. That way, the conflict between you and the Young Madam would surely disappear instantly!"
Listening to Aunt May’s suggestion, no hope rose in Caden’s heart.
His mind was still full of the way Evelyn ignored him just now.
She seemed so unwilling to look at him; she must detest his presence!
"You do it." Caden’s voice was light and low, "If I make it, she definitely won’t eat it."
After speaking, Caden pressed the end call button.
Standing leaning against the corner of the wall, all around Caden was an atmosphere of frustration and gloom, and he didn’t even know how to strive for redemption next.
Is he really going to step back now?
He had said that as long as Evelyn could survive, even if she wanted a divorce, he would agree.
Now, is it time for him to fulfill that promise?
But, at the thought of letting Evelyn go, Caden simply couldn’t do it.
From the moment they met till now, he had laid so many traps, step by step, to make her his wife.
And now, he’s supposed to let go?
He can’t do it.
He really can’t!
But if he forced Evelyn to stay by his side against her will, she would just be in pain, wouldn’t she?
