Chapter 636: She Called Him... Husband
"Wh... what’s wrong?" Evelyn couldn’t help but ask softly, "Did something happen at the company?"
Caden Lockwood didn’t respond, he just held Evelyn.
Watching her injuries improve day by day, the doctor said in one or two days, she could be discharged from the hospital and recuperate at home.
He should be happy, but he didn’t know why, amidst his happiness, there was a strong sense of reluctance.
He always remembered that once she recovered, he would have to let her go.
By then, she would... return to Logan Shaw’s side.
The only comfort he had was that while she was Mrs. Lockwood, she truly kept her distance from Logan Shaw.
Even during the days she was hospitalized after her injury, she and Logan Shaw never had the chance to be alone.
Caden Lockwood couldn’t help but ask himself for the Nth time: Do I really have to let Evelyn Morgan go?
Caden Lockwood held Evelyn even tighter, almost as if he wanted to imprint her into his body.
Unwilling!
He was a billion times unwilling!
But did he have any choice?
Evelyn was held so tightly by Caden Lockwood that it hurt.
She was someone who just had a car accident!
"It hurts..." Evelyn couldn’t help but murmur softly.
Caden Lockwood panicked and immediately let go of Evelyn, "It’s my fault! Did the wound open? Quickly lie down on the bed, I’ll call the doctor! Damn it! Why do I always hurt you!"
Listening to Caden Lockwood’s anxious words, Evelyn stared blankly at him, feeling a deep warmth in her heart.
She couldn’t help but wonder: Does he always hurt her?
Not really!
Many times, he made her very happy!
In his heart, does he only remember the bad things he’s done to her?
How strange!
All she could recall now were all the good things he’s done for her!
Concerned, Caden Lockwood quickly lifted Evelyn and placed her on the bed, then turned to go find a doctor.
"Husband!" Evelyn called out instinctively, tightly holding onto Caden Lockwood’s wrist.
She was very careful not to touch his wounded hand, although he never let her know how badly he was hurt, and always showed her how agile his hand was.
But she could imagine, punching a wall, wouldn’t that hand hurt?
Listening to Evelyn call him, Caden Lockwood stopped in his tracks, his eyes filled with disbelief.
She was calling him... husband?
She was actually still willing to call him that?
Excitement filled Caden Lockwood’s eyes, but it extinguished quickly.
Caden Lockwood knew he shouldn’t dwell on it.
After all, for Evelyn, "husband" was just a title he forced her to call him.
She was used to saying it, so it was just an instinctive shout, without any feelings attached!
"I’m fine." Evelyn’s cheeks flushed slightly, "You should go eat! Whenever you work, you forget to eat; how can you not take care of your own body?"
Pausing, Evelyn added softly, "You must have written a lot with your hand today, right? Does it still hurt? Or... should I feed you?"
Speaking, Evelyn prepared to get out of bed.
Caden Lockwood immediately pressed Evelyn back onto the bed, saying quickly, "I’m okay, you don’t need to worry about me, I’ll eat on my own."
Evelyn nodded, urging him, "Then go eat quickly!"
Caden Lockwood looked deeply at Evelyn, even being in the same hospital room, he wanted to be closer to her.
He laughed at himself for losing the opportunity to care for her, now, he could only hope time would slow down, to greedily savor the days together with her.
