Chapter 633: Don’t Bully Her
Evelyn’s hospital room was always lively. Cecilia Lynch often came to see her, Logan Shaw also visited frequently, and as her attending physician, Ashley Sutton was an essential presence in her room.
Knowing that Ashley Sutton had saved her, Evelyn was especially grateful.
Yet she still held on to another matter—asking Ashley to save Caden Lockwood.
Evelyn had tentatively brought it up twice, but Ashley always coldly refused in a non-negotiable tone, leaving Evelyn helpless and disappointed...
Caden Lockwood had already been at the hospital taking care of Evelyn for five days. Knowing there were many matters at the company waiting for him, Evelyn almost pushed him to go to the company.
Caden, feeling helpless, told Yvette to take good care of Evelyn since the company indeed needed his attention, and he left the hospital for now.
As soon as Caden left, Evelyn immediately called Ashley Sutton, saying she felt particularly unwell and hoped Ashley could come to see her.
Ashley didn’t think much of it and rushed over right away.
Along with her came Logan Shaw.
Seeing Logan, Ashley sighed, "You really are using me as an excuse to meet Evelyn!"
Logan ignored Ashley, walking straight to Evelyn and asking urgently, "What’s wrong? Where do you feel uncomfortable? Aren’t your wounds healing?"
Evelyn gave Logan an apologetic smile and said, "I have something I want to talk to Ashley about privately, so I tricked her into coming."
Logan paused, then gently exhaled in relief.
As long as Evelyn wasn’t feeling unwell, she could do whatever she wanted!
"I’ll wait by the door then," Logan said softly. "If you need anything, just call me."
With that, Logan looked at Ashley again and said coldly, "Don’t bully her."
Hearing Logan’s words, Ashley almost wanted to cough up blood.
"I might as well have a dog," Ashley said, massaging her brow, her face full of anguish. "Even if I saved a dog, it would be loyal to me! Why am I a heartless devil in Logan Shaw’s eyes?"
Looking at Ashley, Evelyn chuckled, "You’re truly adorable!"
Ashley moved closer to Evelyn and asked discontentedly, "Am I only adorable?"
Evelyn immediately flattered her, "All the words that praise women are tailored just for you!"
"Oh, stop it!" Ashley’s cheeks flushed red, "I know why you called me here, but haven’t I told you? I can’t save Caden Lockwood!"
"I’m begging you!" Evelyn became anxious, "He’s been poisoned since he was very young; how many years has he been in pain? If you’re willing to save him, I’d honestly do anything!"
"I’m not looking for anything," Ashley said softly. "However, I can’t disobey my family’s ancestral precepts. If I save Caden Lockwood, I’ll be expelled from The Sutton Family."
"There has to be another way!" Evelyn pleaded, "Even if you just tell Caden’s attending doctor what poison he’s been afflicted with, so we can develop the antidote ourselves, can you do that?"
"No," Ashley shook her head. "Evelyn, if you continue to make things difficult for me, I will have to leave. By then, Caden Lockwood won’t be saved, and neither will Logan Shaw’s hand."
Hearing Ashley’s non-negotiable tone, Evelyn’s eyes completely dimmed.
She knew Ashley had her own difficulties and beliefs, and that continuing to pressure her was greedy.
But at the thought that Ashley could save Caden Lockwood, Evelyn couldn’t help but become despicable and greedy again and again.
"Then..." Evelyn clenched her fists, tentatively asking, "Is there anyone who has already been expelled from The Sutton Family? I can find them to save Caden!"
