Chapter 569: Family or Love, You Can Only Choose One
As time ticked by, Cecilia Lynch’s mother opened her eyes and saw Cecilia sitting by her side. Her gaze darkened, and a surge of intense anger swept through her body.
"Mom!" Cecilia called out anxiously, "You’re awake! How are you feeling? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"
Mrs. Lynch sat up, raised her hand, and slapped Cecilia across the face.
"How could you do something so shameless?" Mrs. Lynch roared, trembling all over, "I would rather die than use the money you earned with your body for my treatment!"
Cecilia clutched her cheek, tears streaming down from the slap her mother gave her.
"Auntie!" Julian Keaton hurriedly shielded Cecilia, his eyes filled with distress, "Cece and I are truly in love! Although our beginning was a mistake, we’ve come to the point of discussing marriage. Please give me a chance to protect and care for her!"
"No need!" Mrs. Lynch pulled Julian away, keeping him from getting too close to Cecilia.
"Mr. Keaton, you have your own life, so please don’t disturb us anymore! We just want to lead a simple life; your family’s threshold is too high for our Cece to step over!" Mrs. Lynch said coldly.
"There is no threshold between Cece and me!" Julian spoke firmly, "Auntie, I’m sorry to Cece. I shouldn’t have kept her by my side that way. In fact, I’ve been in love with her for a long, long time, but I was too afraid to admit it. I can’t lose her. I hope you can forgive my previous selfishness and give me a chance to take care of Cece."
"Impossible!" Mrs. Lynch didn’t relent in the slightest, "Cecilia Lynch, if you still want me as your mom, you’ll drive him out and never have any further contact with him! Otherwise, even in death, I won’t rest in peace!"
"Mom! Don’t get upset, your emotions mustn’t get agitated again!" Cecilia was anxious.
She quickly nudged Julian Keaton, "You should leave for now; don’t stay here."
"Cece." Julian was reluctant, "I..."
He didn’t dare leave Cecilia alone with her mother, fearing that she might force her to leave, and she would surely obey!
"Just go!" Cecilia raised her voice, "Julian, don’t be the cause of my mother’s death. If that happens, there will never be anything between us again!"
Hearing Cecilia’s decisive words, Julian stood frozen on the spot, unable to react for a long time.
From Cecilia’s words, Julian already understood—she was choosing her mother.
"Cece, you promised me we would face all difficulties together, that no matter what happened, you wouldn’t leave me." Julian held Cecilia’s hand, "You can’t go back on your word!"
"Please go!" Cecilia cried out, "I’m begging you, okay?"
"I won’t go!" Julian shook his head, "Cece, let me talk to Auntie. You go out first, give me a chance to talk to her properly, please?"
"Cecilia!" Mrs. Lynch shouted, "What are you still dawdling for? Are you seriously trying to anger me to death?"
Cecilia furrowed her brows; she had no other choice but to push Julian out first and then firmly shut the door of the hospital room.
"Cece!" Julian pounded on the door, "Cece! Open the door! Auntie! When I first met you, you said I would make a good husband and bring happiness to Cece! Cece and I are truly in love, please give me a chance to talk to you!"
