Chapter 35: end
It was over.
The invasion? was finally over.
They had saved pumpkinmon home.
Almost immediately, the D-Scan lit up, and a holographic screen appeared before Takuya.
You have successfully protected an entry point to the Digital World.
The forced entry of Digimon into the entry island was destabilizing the balance. With the threat eliminated, this path has stabilized.
Do you wish to permanently seal all current fluctuations and access points between this LAN Island and the web?
Y/N
Without a second thought, Takuya pressed Yes.
Another message immediately appeared.
Digital entry stabilized.
Congratulations. Your actions have prevented further breaches between the Digital World and the Human World.
"...What the hell?"
So this had really been happening all along and he didn’t have a clue about it.
What if this occurred somewhere else?
This time, he had detected it because everything had started at his school. But what if another breach opened somewhere he couldn’t monitor?
That would be a serious problem, worse, a, real disaster, a fucking apocalypse could start.
And not only that...
He still lacked far too much information about this place.
From what his enemies had revealed, this wasn’t even part of the main continent. It was merely an entry point—an island.
Even then, he still had no idea how to travel here consistently.
Had the train incident simply been a lucky coincidence because Pumpkinmon was with him?
Or could he repeat the process and come here whenever he wanted?
Before Takuya could think any further, the D-Scan spoke again.
Based on the user’s current requirements, the D-Scan has prepared a system update.
Patch Available
• Information Scan: You can now scan Digimon, locations, and digital objects to acquire information. The D-Scan’s beta map will automatically update as new data is collected.
• Digital World Fluctuations: Whenever disturbances in the Digital World begin affecting the Human World, you will receive an alert with the location of the breach. The D-Scan will also analyze the portal’s data pathway and provide an estimate of the maximum evolutionary level of Digimon capable of crossing through it.
• Spawn Point: When traveling to the Digital World, you may now choose your destination. Before boarding the Trailmon System, simply select one of the stations you have previously unlocked.
"What the fuck?"
A patch.
Just how did this Digivice even work?
And now?
This would’ve been incredibly useful before.
Still, Takuya wasn’t about to complain. If anything, this update solved one of his biggest problems. At the very least, from now on, if something happened, he would know.
"Finally, LAN Island is free. We should search for any Digimon they captured. Most of them were just Adults and child ones. There weren’t many Perfect-level Digimon here as far as I know, the places around the island, that did have them are probably fine, I doubt fantomon and the rest had the strength to subdue them all. They only attacked me because they needed an excavation team," LoaderLeomon said as he began walking into the caves were the drimogemon were.
"I’ll come with you. I have a couple of questions," Takuya replied, following alongside Pumpkinmon.
"Sure. Ask away. The least I can do is answer them," LoaderLeomon responded calmly.
"You said this is an entry point. What do you mean by that? Isn’t it just... an island?" Takuya asked.
"Hmm... to answer that, I should explain something first. And don’t blame Pumpkinmon for not knowing. He’s a native of this island. The island itself is actually quite large. Unless you’re the traveling type and spend your time exploring, it’s normal to think it goes on forever. It has around fifty to eighty square kilometers, maybe more," LoaderLeomon explained.
It was indeed large.
Still, mistaking it for a continent was a bit too much, you could still know it was an island.
"So... you’re not from here?" Takuya inferred.
"I’m not. I’m from the Proxy Peninsula. That’s the closest point on the mainland to this island. There’s also an archipelago farther north that serves the same purpose as this island, is called entry point."
"I don’t want to sound ignorant, but... what exactly do you mean by starting point and entry point? Aren’t they the same thing?" Takuya asked, he knew they didn’t mean the same but, he needed a concrete explanation.
"No, they aren’t the same. A starting point is a place like this one, where the Beginning Valleys are located. Besides the cities, they’re where the world’s data naturally converges and new Digimon are born," LoaderLeomon explained.
At least that part made sense.
"And an entry point?" asked Takuya.
"An entry point is different. Every place where Digimon are born creates a constant influx of fresh data into the Digital World. From there, that data flows toward the mainland and merges with the rest of the continent. These islands aren’t particularly rich in data themselves—quite the opposite. They’re the source from which it spreads."LoaderLeomon looked upward, toward the stone ceiling as they finally reached the caves.
"You’ll see it tonight. not always is visible, but today it should. Once the sun sets, it should be visible in the sky. Rivers of data flowing from the sky above the islands toward the continent, and just small sparks falls to the islands themlseves." LoaderLeomon explanation made Takuya raised an eyebrow.
"So... the entire continent is constantly being supplied by the data generated here?" asked Takuya again.
"Something like that, the data isn’t generated in the island, but above the island, is even visible at naked eye sometimes" LoaderLeomon tried to explain.
"Then why isn’t it always like that? I’ve been here for almost a week, and I haven’t seen anything," Takuya asked.
"Because it only happens once every eight or nine days. Sometimes every ten. The flow of information is always there, but it only becomes visible every eight to ten days. Today should be one of those days. It’s part of a cycle." LoaderLeomon continued walking deeper into the mines where the Drimogemon had been imprisoned. "It’s quite a spectacle. You won’t want to miss it." added the yellow leomon.
Eight to ten days...oh.
That was almost one day in the human world.
So whatever happened there every single day somehow affected this place. Maybe the Human World send a daily influx of data, which was then transferred here? It was possible.
Maybe?.
The truth was, trying to understand how an entire world functioned without being able to test any hypotheses was almost impossible.
As Takuya and LoaderLeomon talked, Pumpkinmon simply listened.
"And the Ultimates?" Takuya asked.
"They exist. They’re rare, yes, but reaching that stage isn’t impossible—just incredibly difficult. Most of them either wander across the Digital World or establish territories of their own, it all depends of the digimon character. They’re the Ultimate stage of evolution, after all, full of weirdos in my opinion" LoaderLeomon explained.
"And the Megas fight for dominance over territories? If that’s the case, why isn’t the whole world in chaos?" Takuya asked.
"Because that isn’t easy to achieve, if you want to bring chaos, you need overwhelming power, otherwise is impossible threaten the whole wolds, Also If someone becomes a genuine threat to that balance, something that Trully can affect the world, whether they’re good or evil, the Tentei Hachibushu intervene, we’ll, supposedly. They’re mostly considered a myth, at least that what I belive, but even the myth itself is enough to deter many from going too far." finished LoaderLeomon.
"The Tentei Hachibushu?" Pumpkinmon asked this time. "What’s that?"
"They’re legendary figures. According to the stories, they protect the balance of the Digital World from anyone capable of disrupting it." said the LoaderLeomon as he looked at both of them.
"They’re said to be eight of the strongest Mega-level Digimon of their respective species. Choosen by God himself, But don’t misunderstand—they aren’t heroes, nor are they villains. As long as their actions preserve the world’s balance, they don’t care about the methods they use. At least... that’s what the legends say." LoaderLeomon finished this phrase and looked like waiting another question.
This guy knew a lot, thought Takuya, as he subtlety glanced at pumpkinmon.
He also knew of a group with a somewhat similar role: the Royal Knights.
But the Tentei Hachibushu?
He had never heard of them before.
Were they real? Had they always existed somewhere in Digimon lore? Or were they unique to this version of this Digital World?
"And they’re myth? You sure?" Takuya asked, according to pumpkinmon the megas were a myth, and now they are just rare.
"Hmm... I’ve never seen one. Neither has anyone I know," LoaderLeomon admitted.
Before Takuya could ask another question, they reached the end of the mine.
Several Drimogemon were still digging, even if they were barely standing.
When they noticed the newcomers, they slowly turned around. Their eyes were dull, and every movement was sluggish and still, they kept digging.
All of them were bound by heavy chains, their bodies covered in wounds.
"This is cruel..." Takuya muttered seeing them in shock.
They were on the verge of collapsing.
The group immediately began freeing them.
The saddest part was that the Drimogemon barely reacted. Even after being released, they hesitated, as if they expected more punishment instead of rescue.
Their movements were slow and cautious.
One of them could barely stand. "hey, we’re here to help you" Takuya exclaimed.
Takuya had to support the exhausted Digimon as they made their way out of the mine.
By the time they finally emerged from the tunnels, night had already fallen.
The moment Takuya looked up, he understood exactly what LoaderLeomon had meant about the data flowing from the sky.
It was beautiful.
The sky resembled an aurora borealis, but instead of stretching across the horizon, it flowed like a massive river descending above the island before streaming toward the northeast. The colors constantly shifted—green, blue, crimson, violet—blending together into a current of light.
Then Takuya noticed something else.
Small motes of light drifted gently downward from the sky.
There weren’t many, but they were everywhere once he focused on them, it was like a gentle snowfall of light.
One of them landed against his hand.
The tiny light burst into dozens of even smaller particles before fading away.
It was...
A truly breathtaking sight.
Takuya, LoaderLeomon, Pumpkinmon, and the rescued Drimogemon stood beneath the night sky for several minutes, silently watching the river of light flowing overhead.
Then something happened.
"Thank you," the Drimogemon Takuya had been helping murmured.
Takuya smiled back at him.
But then the Drimogemon spoke again.
"I don’t know you... but thank you. Thank you for letting me see the sky one last time. I hope I don’t forget any of you... in my next life."
"What are you talking about?" Takuya asked.
He had just saved him, hadn’t he? Yet,
Before anyone could answer, the Drimogemon’s feet began dissolving into tiny particles of light.
The effect slowly spread upward through his body.
Takuya instinctively reached out to support him, but there was nothing left to hold.
The Digimon’s body gently dispersed into countless motes of data, which rose into the air and merged with the glowing current flowing across the night sky.
As if responding to Takuya’s feelings, the D-Scan remained silent.
It didn’t light up.
It didn’t absorb a single byte of the Drimogemon’s data.
"Be proud," LoaderLeomon said quietly from beside him. "He died... but he died as a free Digimon, not in chains."
Takuya remained silent, watching the last traces of light disappear into the stream above.
Only after several moments did the group resume walking, leaving the group of drimogemon to rest an gather strength.
There were still more Digimon to rescue.
Their next destination was the massive furnace built in the center of the village—the heart of the mining operation that Fantomon’s group had established.
If there were still prisoners...
They intended to free every last one of them.
End of the Chapter.
A/N: for some reason, my favorite Chapter, this is today Chapter, the next one comes tomorrow.
