Chapter 34: Digital world IV

Sponsored

A/N: Bonus Chapter, guys! This will be the last bonus Chapter for this week. Not because I haven’t written more, but because I want to build up a bigger backlog before releasing them. I don’t like improvising or risking running out of Chapters.

If you’d be kind enough to keep supporting the story with Power Stones, I’d really appreciate it. Also, keep in mind that this arc is mainly an introduction to the Digital World, so things will keep expanding from here.

End of the note

Start of the Chapter, enjoy gentlemens:

Takuya looked at Fantomon. He knew they had to fight, but he also needed answers to the questions that kept piling up.

"A private server?" he asked.

"There’s no point. You wouldn’t understand," Fantomon replied as he rushed toward Takuya.

The boy immediately fired a Burning Salamander, but Fantomon blocked it with his massive weapon, spinning it rapidly like a whirlwind and scattering the flames.

At the same time, Pumpkinmon materialized his gigantic pumpkin and slammed it down, trying to crush Fantomon beneath its enormous weight.

The ghost Digimon swung his weapon at incredible speed, slicing the pumpkin cleanly into pieces before it could reach him.

"You were right," Takuya admitted. "This one is strong."

"Told you," Pumpkinmon replied proudly, just for being right.

Both of them prepared to attack again.

Takuya ignited himself in flames and gathered the fire left behind from the previous battle, creating a blazing storm around Fantomon. Then he rushed into the inferno.

With everything engulfed in red flames and visibility greatly reduced, he engaged Fantomon in close combat.

He unleashed a relentless barrage of strikes, but even then Fantomon held his ground remarkably well. Steel clashed against steel as Agnimon’s armored limbs collided with Fantomon’s weapon.

Takuya’s real advantage wasn’t his physical strength.

It was the fire, the one still burning from his fight with giromon.

Every clash slowly burned Fantomon’s body, forcing him to retreat little by little as he tried to escape the ever-growing sea of flames.

Once Fantomon realized the burns were becoming annoying , he quickly disengaged.

Taking advantage of his ability to float, he created some distance before swinging the heavy iron ball attached to the end of his chain.

The ball crashed directly into Agnimon’s chest, sending him flying backward, with a crack on agnimon chest plate.

At the same moment, Fantomon spun his weapon with tremendous force, creating a powerful gust that dispersed most of the surrounding flames.

However, those same flames had also prevented him from noticing the other Digimon.

An axe suddenly flew toward him.

Fantomon barely managed to block it before a barrage of fire attacks came from two different directions. Pumpkinmon could also manipulate fire, summoning fire like that exploded around the battlefield feeding Takuya flames again.

Fantomon swung his weapon again before glancing around the battlefield.

"Are you waiting for someone?" Takuya asked with a grin as he slowly advanced.

The flames around him continued to rise, increasing both the heat and the pressure.

Indeed, that was exactly what Fantomon was doing.

The two of them were proving far more troublesome than expected.

By himself, Fantomon believed he could eventually defeat them, but they were too persistent. The safest option was simply to stall until Matadormon arrived.

And from the corner of his eye...

He saw him.

Matadormon was rapidly approaching, leaping effortlessly from rooftop to rooftop.

"Oh, your help has arrived," Takuya said with a smile.

Matadormon was only moments away.

The instant those words left Takuya’s mouth, the ground beneath Fantomon exploded.

A gigantic maw burst out of the earth and clamped shut around Fantomon.

It was LoaderLeomon.

The massive lion Digimon had trapped Fantomon in his jaws, pinning both his weapon and any possible escape route.

"Now!" shouted Takuya.

Takuya and Pumpkinmon charged simultaneously, repeating the same strategy they had used against Enbarrmon.

From the front, Takuya unleashed a point-blank Burning Salamander.

At the same time, Pumpkinmon swung his axe from the opposite side.

Takuya’s flaming fist pierced straight through Fantomon’s body while Pumpkinmon’s axe severed his head in a single clean strike.

A moment later, Fantomon’s body dissolved into countless particles of data, which split evenly among the three Digimon.

By the time Matadormon finally arrived...

The Bakemon were already dead.

His companions were dead.

Now only he remained.

LoaderLeomon emerged completely from the ground before stepping forward to face the newcomer.

"It looks like we’ll finally have our rematch,I told you before isn’t, alone you had no opportunity, you only win because I was alone" the giant lion said, his mechanical mane slowly rotating.

"But this time..." a grin spread across his face.

"The tables have turned."

"You’re the one who’s outnumbered."

Takuya, Pumpkinmon, and LoaderLeomon slowly surrounded Matadormon, cutting off every possible escape route.

The Digimon carefully scanned the battlefield, evaluating the situation.

Three opponents.

Two of them were clearly Perfect-level Digimon. The third was a humanoid Digimon he didn’t recognize, but judging by his presence, he assumed he was a Perfect as well. It wasn’t as if he knew every Digimon species in existence.

Matadormon lowered his stance.

At this point, escaping was no longer an option, at least not an easy one.

If he was going down, he would take at least one—or preferably two of them—with him.

Takuya, meanwhile, prepared himself to fight at full power.

This one looked strong.

And Matadormon proved it almost instantly.

He didn’t simply charge.

He dashed.

One moment he was standing still, and the next he was already in front of Takuya.

Takuya barely managed to block the incoming strike, but the impact was overwhelming. His feet slid backward against the ground despite all the strength he put into resisting it.

The attacks weren’t just powerful.

They flowed together seamlessly.

He was being completely overwhelmed.

Maybe, by using his flames to propel himself, he could match Matadormon’s movement speed...

But not his reactions.

Not his perception.

His eyes could barely keep up with the enemy’s movements.

Matadormon continued his assault, fighting as if he were dancing.

Every movement connected perfectly into the next, graceful yet deadly, leaving almost no opening to exploit.

Just as Takuya felt another strike about to break through his guard and break another piece of armor or bone, LoaderLeomon charged in from the side, slashing with his massive claws.

The attack forced Matadormon to disengage for a split second, giving Takuya the breathing room he desperately needed.

Even then, several new cracks had already spread across Agnimon’s armor.

LoaderLeomon immediately followed with a sweeping strike from his tail.

The heavy metal ball extended toward Matadormon, who narrowly dodged the attack.

However, LoaderLeomon was far harder to evade than expected.

The wheels beneath his paws spun rapidly, dramatically increasing his speed and allowing him to keep pace with Matadormon without difficulty.

At the same time, Takuya rejoined the assault, forcing Matadormon to defend from two directions at once.

He needed to separate them.

Otherwise...

He had no chance.

Suddenly, an axe came flying toward him.

Matadormon twisted his body and leaped backward, narrowly avoiding the weapon.

But the instant he landed...

LoaderLeomon was already there.

The mechanical lion had closed the distance in an instant, his wheels roaring beneath his paws as he lunged forward, refusing to let Matadormon regain control of the battle.

He lowered his head toward Matadormon, and his metallic mane began spinning at incredible speed. A violent storm burst into existence, slamming directly into the Matadormon.

In that instant, one of Matadormon’s arms was torn away, dissolving into data. The particles were immediately absorbed by Takuya, surprising the boy.

Matadormon glanced at his missing arm, assessed the situation, and let out a weary sigh.

"I don’t even have enough data to evolve, not even a side evolution..."

Then his gaze shifted toward LoaderLeomon.

Without another word, he charged.

If he was going to die, then at least he would take down the most troublesome of his enemies.

An absurd number of blades shot out from beneath his sleeves, raining toward LoaderLeomon. The blades buried themselves deep into the mechanical lion’s metal body, forcing the Digimon to roar in pain.

Takuya reacted immediately.

He knew what was coming.

A suicide attack.

And if he let it happen, LoaderLeomon would likely be the one to pay the price.

He rushed forward and unleashed Burning Salamander. The stream of flames cut between LoaderLeomon and Matadormon, crashing directly into the undead Digimon.

Matadormon instinctively raised his remaining arm to block.

The flames detonated.

His last arm was blown apart.

The Digimon dropped to one knee before collapsing onto the ground.

"You may have won this..." he muttered, "...but the moment you leave the safety of this server, everything will change. My group... was the weakest one."

Before he could say anything else, Pumpkinmon swung his axe.

Matadormon’s head rolled across the ground.

The rest of his body dissolved into countless particles of data.

"That last phrase was pretty ominous, wasn’t it?" Takuya asked after hearing Matadormon’s final words.

"Yeah," LoaderLeomon replied. "But he wasn’t wrong. We were lucky. This place is relatively protected. The Beginning Islands are among the safest regions in the Digital World, after all."

"The Beginning Islands?" Takuya asked.

"Yes. They’re where most Digimon begin their lives," LoaderLeomon explained. "They’re called the Beginning Islands because the ambient data density is low. Ultimate-level Digimon are almost unheard of here, and even when one does evolve that far, they usually leave. The strongest Digimon territories lie beyond the islands."

then again, takuya looked at pumpkinmon, this dude was the worst source of information.
