Chapter 1177: Counterattack! Escape! (3)

After making it safely down two floors, on the fourth floor down, Xiao Lin once again mercilessly severed the head of an assassin.

However, just as Xiao Lin dealt with this assassin, Murong Lengyue, who was on rear guard, suddenly whispered a warning before pulling the trigger without hesitation.

Bam bam... The muffled gunshots echoed harshly in the empty building.

For some reason, when Xiao Lin heard these two gunshots, it made his scalp tingle even more than encountering an assassin head-on. He started second-guessing whether handing a gun to this clumsy woman was the correct decision.

The sound of the gunshots seemed to alert all the assassins in the other three buildings, as they focused their cold eyes on the floor where the shots came from and began to converge there without hesitation.

"Did I do something wrong again?" Murong Lengyue was startled by her own two gunshots. The muffled sound in the dark silence was not only piercing but triggered a chain reaction like a cascade of glass marbles falling into an iron pot. Only the marbles could be seen moving, the bullets she fired couldn’t.

"What’s wrong?" Unable to mock the clumsy woman any longer, Xiao Lin quickly led Murong Lengyue through a small door and hid behind a wall, whispering.

"A shadow suddenly appeared behind the wall."

"Did you hit it?"

Murong Lengyue shook her head. Xiao Lin’s skeptical gaze made her start doubting herself, wondering if it was just an illusion in the dark caused by dizzy eyes. "I’m not sure if it was really a shadow." Her voice grew quieter, as she lowered her head like a child who did something wrong.

In the moment before the gunfire didn’t erupt, she realized she’d made a serious mistake.

"Believe in yourself!" Xiao Lin patted Murong Lengyue’s head without saying another word.

Hearing the approaching footsteps and shouting from below, and the commotion from the top floor, Xiao Lin and Murong Lengyue both furrowed their brows.

The mistake had been made, and there was no going back due to regret. Even with careful handling, there can still be mistakes, let alone with someone as inexperienced as Murong Lengyue.

As more people gathered from all directions, if they delayed any longer, the number of enemies would double, making escape even more difficult!

Exhaling, Xiao Lin looked at Murong Lengyue. "Are you ready?" A fight was inevitable.

"Wait a minute!" Just as Xiao Lin was about to wield his spikes to charge out, Murong Lengyue suddenly held him back. "Look at this..." Following her direction, he saw a pile of plaster powder and wood fragments left over from construction. "This will work!" Murong Lengyue pointed to the cement bag, then to outside the wall.

Xiao Lin immediately understood her meaning, nodded, grabbed the cement bag, and looked at Murong Lengyue, who held her guns with a serious face. "Ready?" Murong Lengyue exhaled lightly and nodded heavily.

With a grip on the cement bag, Xiao Lin counted silently with his mouth, and when he reached three, he released the dust bag, throwing it out of the small door.

The assassins outside, waiting tensely with guns, fired without hesitation upon seeing a shadow leap out.

Bam bam... Several bullets accurately hit the cement bag, but before they could be pleased, the entire room was immediately shrouded in scattering cement dust.

In the already dark space, people’s night vision varied. Now, with swirling dust, visibility decreased further, and the toxic dust inhaled caused pain in their lungs and stung their eyes, throwing them into chaos. Some crouched on the ground, others even dropped their weapons to rub their eyes, completely forgetting there was still a formidable enemy waiting beyond the plaster dust.

As planned, as the plaster dust dispersed, Murong Lengyue had already aimed at the first person who fired, shooting with both guns. The sound of bullets striking flesh and muffled grunts allowed Murong Lengyue to exhale deeply.

With one move, she turned to Xiao Lin, stuck out her tongue playfully, and her cute look made Xiao Lin pause for a moment. "First one!" She held up a finger to the stunned Xiao Lin. "This is my first time killing someone."

"Mm!" Xiao Lin responded quietly, spreading his arms. Murong Lengyue tipped her head with a smile and automatically jumped onto him, hugging tightly. "Let’s risk it all!" Xiao Lin reminded her, his spikes held tight without spinning as they usually did, his cold voice carrying a chill. Murong Lengyue nodded obediently, knowing her speed couldn’t even match one percent of Xiao Lin’s, so she clung to him tightly, realizing she likely wouldn’t have a role going forward.

With a little push beneath Murong Lengyue’s buttocks, Xiao Lin tested the weight on him, pausing his steps before stepping out. "Relax, you’ll get very tired this way." He could feel her tense muscles and tried patting her rear to relax.

"You think I’m heavy; I don’t want to be a burden." So, she still remembered that comment. Xiao Lin shook his head.

"Relax, I was just teasing. You’re as light as a feather. I wonder how those two things on your chest managed to grow. Did you do something?"

"Xiao Lin, you’re awful, those are 100% real." The words made Murong Lengyue freeze for a moment, her muscles completely relaxing.

"Mm! Got it. No need to yell; cosmetic surgery is in vogue now." Adjusting his position, Xiao Lin gripped the spikes and rushed toward the stairs again.

Upon reaching the stairway, barely half a floor down, his pupils dilated, and he swiftly retreated without hesitation. During the quick jest with Murong Lengyue, no less than seven shadows had appeared below, each holding a gun.

Though confident, Xiao Lin was never arrogant! Charging out like that was not entirely impossible, relying solely on speed. But facing the simultaneous barrels of seven guns, speed was irrelevant. Not even he could outpace seven bullets at once, especially with Murong Lengyue on him, risking it was not an option.

After retreating barely five or six steps, Murong Lengyue exclaimed in surprise, "Something’s behind." This time, she’d learned not to shoot recklessly, choosing to warn Xiao Lin first.
