Chapter 1234 - 1202: Rematch with Master Four (Part 3)
Chapter 1202 The Second Battle with the Fourth Lord (3)
The Fourth Lord couldn’t describe the fear leaping out from her chest; perhaps it was her overconfidence that prevented her from admitting the silent movement from behind. The palpable sense of presence made it impossible for even someone of her status to quickly turn around. She glared intently at Xiao Lin before her, filled with an urge to swallow him whole. Courage was no longer something she could rely on; she sought ways to respond as her heart trembled with fear.
"Why don’t you take a look behind you, maybe..."
"Shut up!" Just as the Fourth Lord had this thought, she stepped back, but her foot landed on the ground. Eyes widening, her body was supposed to move toward Xiao Lin, but instead, it hurtled in the other direction. Xiao Lin was frightening, but he was not as overwhelming as the impact she felt from behind.
Turn around! Attack! Defend! Every action flowed smoothly, yet when the Fourth Lord retaliated with full force, there was nothing in front of her, just air between her and the rooftop’s wall. What had she stepped on earlier?
No time to ponder, a gust rushed at her from behind, icy and directly targeting her head. In a moment’s distraction, without turning back, she flung her right hand behind her. A silver flash blocked the short dagger Xiao Lin had thrust from behind, producing a clear metallic clash. After a brief skirmish, they separated quickly, while the enforcers who had climbed to the rooftop surrounded them, tightening the attack circle.
This time, the Fourth Lord was even more cautious, keen on swift attacks. Only she knew she was distracted.
"Xiao, what the hell are you doing?" she demanded coldly. In front of so many eyes, was it merely her illusion?
"Heh heh!" Xiao Lin laughed instead of answering. Perhaps others didn’t notice, but with his keen senses, Xiao Lin spotted the sinister figure of Crow, lurking behind the Fourth Lord. While sneaking up on the Fourth Lord, he scurried away when others arrived. Xiao Lin’s laughter was not for the Fourth Lord’s demeanor but for Crow’s behavior, as he became increasingly human-like and adorable.
With eyes wide open in rage, the Fourth Lord swung her fists, ten fingers gleaming silver, the palm wind fierce and powerful as it rushed towards Xiao Lin’s detestable smile. The palm prints whirled, wind howled, and just as her powered-up palms were about to strike, her hands transformed into fists, ten spiked protrusions suddenly appearing, emitting coldness. Under moonlight, one could clearly see the blue and purple glow emanating from them.
Clang clang! The sharp ringing of clashing metals echoed. Xiao Lin cautiously avoided the spikes, having experienced them before. They were not inherently threatening but were laced with extracted poision, fueling the strength in his hands, as his sharp edge pierced horizontally, entwining two of them.
The Fourth Lord sensed something amiss and attempted to pull back, but it was too late. With a sinister smile, Xiao Lin pressed her right hand down, and his left hand punched toward her shoulder, forcing her into a dilemma.
Shattered shoulder? Or broken spikes?
The Fourth Lord grunted, and as her left fist approached, she abandoned her right hand. The spikes lightened as the glove adorned with spikes was thrown far away, five silver gleams shattered in fury.
Such terrifying strength; though she escaped Xiao Lin’s clutches, a metallic taste arose in her chest. Had she been struck in the shoulder, half her arm would have been useless, a realization that left her heart shivering.
With a twist of her step, her slender figure gracefully spun, shedding the other glove and drawing two double-edged blades from her waist. She leaped into the air, and at that moment, a gray shadow flashed by. In a rare moment of distraction, screams erupted around her, and a beast’s roar tore through the night, drawing the Fourth Lord’s attention. Everywhere the grey shadow went, bodies fell, and the blood it stirred elevated the battlefield into a scene of carnage.
Xiao Lin paid no heed to everything transpiring around him, charging directly toward the Fourth Lord. The double daggers in his hand traced a beautiful arc in mid-air as he closed in on her. His rising right elbow struck fiercely toward her lower abdomen, and the right dagger, like a spiritual object with a soul, cleverly followed the path of his right elbow, striking diagonally.
The extremely reactive Fourth Lord twisted her body with all her might, attempting to dodge the terrifying blow from the right elbow. However, even if she evaded the first strike, she couldn’t escape the oncoming spikes. Xiao Lin’s seemingly simple attack was truly intricate, even though the Fourth Lord foresaw it, her chances of continuously evading the sudden and closely followed moves were slim.
Thud! Avoiding the right elbow, the spikes were already in front of her eyes, mere feet away, as the Fourth Lord successfully avoided a fatal point, the spikes pierced into her right rib.
The spikes weren’t immediately withdrawn. Instead, they plunged deeper under Xiao Lin’s force, although it seemed like one strike, it inflicted damage twice. The subsequent pressure on internal organs from the follow-up made the impact far more severe than the first strike. Although the Fourth Lord averted a deadly blow, she suffered a grave bodily injury.
However, Xiao Lin felt no pity for the heavily injured Fourth Lord. Both his hands swiftly latched onto her wrists, gripping the twin blades tightly, and violently swung them to both sides.
Crack! Pfft!
Under the intense force, the Fourth Lord’s hands emitted the sound of breaking bones. In the dead of night, it was eerily chilling. Enduring excruciating pain, she gritted her teeth and dragged her limp arms, propelling herself upwards with her feet. In a burst of fury, her body spun like a whirlwind, shooting towards Xiao Lin’s stance.
Step, step, step! Xiao Lin retreated a few steps back, right into the encirclement of enforcers behind him. The ring formed by knives and staffs would tear flesh if touched. With nowhere left to retreat, Xiao Lin stepped out with his right foot, firmly standing his ground, crossing his arms before his chest in defense.
The hastily erected defense was shattered by a tremendous gust. The Fourth Lord’s fierce counterattack, with its terrifying explosiveness, genuinely shook Xiao Lin.
The invisible pressure forced Xiao Lin to retreat a few steps while blocking, about to strike the weapons wall behind him. Just then, the grey shadow surged behind him. Originally standing figures, with a cry of alarm, raised and swung their weapons, a series of terrified screams erupted as they couldn’t see what passed beneath them, only feeling the tearing from their ankles as if a powerful Steel Claw had ripped away chunks of their flesh.
