Chapter 1240 - 1207: Want You to Hold Me
Chapter 1207 I Want You to Hold Me
The hotel was small and cozy. After meeting Xiao Lin, the Zimu brothers left the room. There was much to say, but they held back. After inquiring about Xia Xue’s condition, Xiao Lin took her hand and sat by the bedside. Her pulse indicated no major issues, and it wouldn’t endanger her life, but they still couldn’t identify what kind of drug she had inhaled.
He leaned closer to Xia Xue and caught a scent from her breath. Though it wasn’t very strong anymore, to be detectable from her exhalation suggested she had been inhaling it for a while. Fortunately, Xia Xue had been practicing the Inner Cultivation Heart Method he taught her, preventing deep poisoning. By expelling the toxins and recuperating, she could recover.
Time passed by slowly, and Xia Xue showed no signs of waking up. Zimu brothers, who had been waiting outside, were sent back to Palermo, but Consort Ling refused to leave.
"I know you blame yourself, but it’s not your fault," Xiao Lin stepped out of the room and lit a cigarette.
"I’m staying not because of guilt," Consort Ling avoided the comfort Xiao Lin tried to offer. "According to ’Black Crow’s’ traditions, yesterday was the day for a level-seven soul vigil, so Lucifer and the others would have gone to Black Street. As long as I stay here, they will be safe."
"You killed the level-seven, so they will kill you, is that it?" Consort Ling did not answer Xiao Lin’s question. "I must say, your excuse is terrible. The idea of soul releasing or vigilance is something only those with guilt would believe in. Maybe the level-seven shouldn’t have died; I liked him. He died for the Clown. You must have something else you want to tell me by staying here, right?"
Consort Ling took a drag from her cigarette and nodded. "The level-seven died at my hands because he hoped to exchange his life for the Clown’s, just like you would die for the woman inside."
"Ah, I see." Xiao Lin patted Consort Ling on the shoulder. "Stay if you want, but stay outside. I don’t want a guardian at the door obstructing me."
Uh... Xiao Lin’s words were so blunt that even the indifferent Consort Ling blushed.
The first thing Xia Xue saw when she opened her eyes was a magnified face. She wanted to cry out but was enveloped by a smoky scent. Xiao Lin felt like he’d waited an eternity for this moment.
After savoring Xia Xue’s sweetness, he reluctantly let her go, knowing her health was the priority now.
"How do you feel?" Xia Xue nodded, wrapping her arms around Xiao Lin and tilting her head to look at him. "What’s with the look?"
"Are you really okay?" The memory of Xiao Lin severely injured by the Fourth Lord lingered in her mind, her eyes moist. "None of what they taught me was any use."
"If anything happened to me, would I still be here sitting? Silly!" Tenderly, he stroked her hair. "Sleep a bit more, and we’ll leave by sundown."
"What about those people? That woman seemed terrifying."
"Dead!" Xiao Lin helped Xia Xue lie back on the bed. As he got up to fetch her a glass of water, Xia Xue grabbed him.
"Don’t go!"
"I’m not leaving, but you need to stay hydrated now." Xiao Lin patted Xia Xue’s head, but her hand didn’t let go. So, he sighed and sat on the bed.
"Do you have something to say?" Seeing Xia Xue struggling to express herself, Xiao Lin smiled.
"Hold me!" After much hesitation, Xia Xue awkwardly turned her head and softly extended the invitation.
How does one describe this feeling? It’s like a dream come true, though Xiao Lin tried to restrain himself, Xia Xue heard his laughter above her. "You naughty!" She pulled the sheet to hide her already bright red face.
"Are you trying to suffocate?" Watching her childlike gesture, Xiao Lin’s laughter grew louder, and he slipped under the covers with her. "A wife’s command is to be absolutely obeyed and executed, even if it means braving hellfire."
His words amused Xia Xue. "It’s not that exaggerated. Are you declaring war on me?"
"This task is harder than war; not only must I hold the line, but I must also make the other side surrender, and that’s quite taxing!"
"What else can you do besides bully me?" Xia Xue playfully retorted, quickly sliding to the side to avoid him closing in. But how could Xiao Lin let her escape after igniting the flames?
He grabbed her wrist, pulling Xia Xue into his arms and pinning her beneath him. Deep emotions flickered in his dark eyes. "Do you know? When you were taken, I nearly lost my mind. I was so afraid you’d get hurt because of me."
Xia Xue’s right hand caressed Xiao Lin’s face, feeling the fresh stubble on his chin prick her hand. "I knew you’d come to save me, so I was waiting."
"Hehe!" His woman was strong. "Help me undress."
"Huh?" The topic suddenly shifted, leaving Xia Xue momentarily stunned. Her hand on his face was gently guided by Xiao Lin to his chest. "I like how you look when you slowly unbutton my shirt."
"But..."
"Shh, hurry, I can’t wait any longer."
Xia Xue’s fingertips were cold, but when they touched Xiao Lin’s fiery body, it felt like cool spring water soothing him. "You’re burning up!" Xia Xue exclaimed, quickly sitting up. "Let me see, why didn’t you say anything instead of toughing it out?"
"Ah, what a disobedient child!" Such awakened desires couldn’t simply be switched off.
His fingers gently lifted Xia Xue’s chin to meet his gaze, then he shook his head slowly. "I’m fine, but it has a problem."
Ah! Xia Xue gasped as her hand was placed on his heated skin. His voice turned husky, and Xia Xue watched his Adam’s apple move before raising herself to kiss him.
Flames ignited quickly, heating up the room, their lively eyes focused solely on each other, everything else fading into illusory shadows.
Having returned to the door, the person stood for a long time, the blush on her face yet to fade, releasing a sigh and leaning against the wall.
An uneventful night, Nicholas was tugged back numerous times by Murphy. A Mafia Godfather hiding in someone else’s backyard all night and even falling asleep? If word got out, how many would die laughing at this? It was a significant blow to the face, one his people didn’t mind, but as a subordinate, he very much did.
