Chapter 689: Doctor’s Confirmation

An elderly high elf was invited into the king’s treehouse and was ordered to check the elven princess’s pulse.

Under the solemn gazes of Garandel and Rosalie, the elderly high elf doctor pressed his fingers on Yvanna’s wrist.

"Huh?!"

"Did you sense something unusual, Elder Saha?" Garandel asked when he noticed the sudden change in the old doctor’s expression.

"This..." Elder Saha furrowed his eyebrows.

With his more than a century of experience, he discovered a light, almost undetectable life signal within the princess’s womb.

It was then that he realized why the atmosphere was so tense.

He withdrew his fingers and stared deeply at the princess. "Your Highness, it appears that you are pregnant..."

As soon as he confirmed this, Rosalie and Garandel raised their eyebrows, their expressions complicated.

Yvanna also became nervous.

While they were too stunned to speak, the old doctor added. "And there is something strange about the child’s life force. It doesn’t seem to be that of an elf..."

The old doctor paused his words and thought about something.

Could it be the princess...?

His eyes widened, but he quickly composed himself when he saw the elven king and the supreme elder giving him a knowing look.

"Your task here is done, Elder Saha." Rosalie gestured at the old doctor.

Elder Saha knew that he had stumbled upon a huge secret. If news of this were to spread, there would be an uproar. Some stubborn and traditional high elves might even cause a scene.

Knowing the possible repercussions, the old doctor took a deep breath. "I understand, but please allow this old man to give some advice to Her Highness before I go."

"Alright." Garandel nodded.

After getting the king’s approval, the old doctor turned his head to Yvanna and said. "Your Highness, the child you carry possesses an unusual energy."

With a serious look, he continued.

"You might have noticed it by now. Your energy core is absorbing lesser mana than usual."

When he mentioned this, Yvanna tensed up. "Is there something wrong, Elder Saha?"

She had noticed this change a few weeks ago, but she didn’t think much of it.

Looking grim, the old doctor nodded and replied. "The child you carry has immense potential, and it is absorbing most of the mana that enters your body. It wouldn’t be an issue if you were a 4- Ringed Beast Soul Grandmaster, but with your current condition, your body might not be able to handle the enormous energy absorption rate of the child."

"Can something be done?" Garandel revealed a look of concern. This was his first grandchild, so he was worried about complications that might arise during the pregnancy.

The old doctor sent him a light smile. "Yes, Your Majesty. Although Her Highness’s case is highly complicated, there is a way to prevent abnormalities from occurring."

"We can make Her Highness consume high-grade elixirs to ensure the safe growth of the child, but this option would burn a lot of resources."

"Another method is to have a 4-Ringed Beast Soul Master or a Mythical Knight transfer mana to the child. Transferring mana to the unborn child requires meticulous care, so it must be done by someone capable. Moreover, mana transfer must be carried out one hour daily to ensure the child absorbs sufficient energy."

The old doctor mentioned a few more options, but he suggested opting for the first two as they were the safest.

"Is there anything else that we need to know?" Rosalie asked.

Elder Saha shook his head. "Those are the most important things. There are other minor factors, but it’s not necessary to perform them."

"Alright. Thank you for your time, Elder Saha. If there are any issues later, I will summon you again." Garandel thanked the old doctor.

Elder Saha bowed his head. "Then I will excuse myself."

"Let me see you out." Rosalie volunteered to send off the old doctor.

He wanted to decline the offer, but Rosalie looked like she had more to say, so the old doctor could only agree.

As they walked toward the door, Rosalie whispered. "Please don’t mention this to anyone."

Her voice was cold, and it also carried a hint of warning.

Elder Saha grimly nodded. "I know what to do. You can rest assured."

"Good."

After sending off the doctor, Rosalie went back to the treehouse.

She saw the elven king grinning from ear to ear.

"I’m sorry, Your Majesty. I should have controlled myself that day. I couldn’t..." Yvanna didn’t dare raise her head, so she didn’t see her father’s expression.

Garandel wanted to laugh, but he held back. He cleared his throat and feigned a serious look. "What’s done is done. Lift your head. You are the princess of Greenwood Kingdom, the heir and the future Queen. You must be strong."

While giving this advice, he gave Rosalie a quick look to study her expression.

Rosalie knew that the elven king was only saying this because of her. If she wasn’t here, he might be dancing in joy by now. Still, she didn’t expose him.

She turned her head to the elven princess and said. "Your Highness, now that we have confirmed your pregnancy, you must take care of your body. Starting tomorrow, I will be responsible for transferring mana to the child."

She was the most suitable for the job since the king had more tasks to do.

"I will follow your arrangements." Yvanna nodded, not daring to look Rosalie in the eye. Although they had openly accepted her pregnancy, she still felt ashamed of herself.

After all, she broke their longstanding tradition.

"I still have to complete the wedding arrangements, so I will excuse myself." She nodded to the king before she left the treehouse.

As soon as she left, Yvanna’s face eased up.

"She’s finally gone." Garandel sat on the chair adjacent to his daughter’s seat.

Hearing her father’s casual tone, Yvanna looked at him in surprise. "Aren’t you angry?"

Garandel smiled at her. "Why would I be angry? You are carrying my grandchild. This is something that we should be happy about."

Yvanna felt a wave of warmth at her father’s comforting words.
