From the things he heard from Rebecca, the hell like orphanage where he had grown up in his childhood was under the control of this old bastard, and it was used to do illegal things under the cover of an orphanage.

Soon Jack calmed his mind from the chaotic thoughts. A shadow-like black figure, hidden in the night, entered the bedroom.

All the guards inside the house had been fully taken care of by him. Jack walked towards the bed and looked at an old man whose hair was still dyed black, but the wrinkles on his face already clearly showed his old age.

A cold and dangerous smile appeared on Jack’s face once again as he said softly in silence,

"It’s time to die, old man."

Harold, who was in a deep sleep, suddenly jolted awake from the soft voice he heard, together with the life-threatening danger he felt at that time.

He looked at the half face of the young man in the dim light, with the other half covered by the mask he was wearing.

Harold already guessed the motive of the person in front of him. He was about to say something to stall for some time, and his hand started to move toward the red alert button near the pillow.

But his attempt and hope for survival were cut off immediately. Harold felt his throat being slashed open by something.

The pain spread throughout his body, and lots of blood started to leak from the cut in his throat.

"Who.....hharee....houy....huhh...."

He clutched his throat and tried to speak, but no proper words came from his mouth. He watched the young man in confusion and lingering fear.

The slash from the knife was extremely fast. In the dim light, he didn’t know when this person had made his move.

Jack stood close to Harold and watched his last struggle to live with a smile on his face, as if he were enjoying a show. He watched everything until all the life drifted away from the old man’s eyes. Now only the old lifeless body was left in front of him.

Jack muttered under his breath,

"Now it’s time to add a suitable scapegoat for this matter."

From what Isabella said, the person behind the old Mayor Harold was the crown prince of the Thomson family, Brad Thomson.

Then we can place the blame on the opposing party that has enmity with the Thomson family and has the same strength as them.

According to Isabella’s instructions, the suitable scapegoat was the Sinclair family. Jack touched the blood that was still leaking from Harold’s neck and drew the symbol of a bow and arrow together, which was the family symbol of the Sinclair family and was also used in matters like this to indicate that it was done by them.

After finishing his work there, Jack started to roam around the house and look for the evidence both Isabella and Rebecca had mentioned.

Through Selena in the capital, Isabella had already made a deal about clearing one of Brad Thomson’s pawns with the Sinclair family.

If the evidence discovered between the two people was found, then it would be considered a goodwill gesture from their side. Isabella said it would make the Sinclair family owe them for this matter.

So Jack searched everything with his eyes wide open. But he didn’t find anything useful at all.

Time passed swiftly. He nearly spent an hour searching, but nothing useful was found.

Time was running out, and the urgency to escape started to appear in his mind. But Jack soon calmed himself.

"Let’s check for another hour. If I don’t find anything, then there is no need to stay here any longer."

He continued his search once again. When he reached a tea table that was placed in the study,

Jack noticed a silver statue of Cupid placed on the table as a decoration. The tea table was attached to the wall.

Two chairs were placed around the table. Everything looked normal on the outside. Jack touched the silver statue and pressed it lightly. He felt the head of the statue move.

Jack immediately became alert and took a closer look at the statue. He muttered to himself,

"Was this for real? Like the things shown in movies and novels. Could there really be a hidden secret place in this house?"

With an amused expression on his face, Jack twisted the neck for real and waited for a reaction.

As expected, the wall behind the tea table moved slightly.

"What the hell?"

Jack jumped onto the table, looked closely, found the hidden door immediately, and pushed it open.

He entered a place that looked extremely luxurious. It felt like he had entered a palace.

As he looked further inside, in the center of the room, there was a young woman sitting in a chair, painting something.

Jack watched the back of the slender woman, who still didn’t notice that someone had entered.

He walked slowly behind her and touched her shoulder lightly.

Anna, who was submerged in her world of painting, jolted awake from the sudden touch. She turned around and freaked out as soon as she saw an unknown man in front of her, and screamed in fear.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh....."

Jack immediately covered her mouth with his hand, gave her a cold glance, and said,

"If you shout or scream once again, you will die."

While he was threatening her, a short knife that had just taken a life and still had some blood stains on it was pressed against Anna’s stomach.

Anna looked at Jack in fear, and tears had already started to fall from her eyes because of the fright he caused.

Jack looked at the woman in front of him carefully. Although he was maintaining his cold exterior, he was still surprised and shocked inside.

Wasn’t the information that this granddaughter of the old man was treasured by him and under heavy protection?

But why was she locked inside a secret room?

A lot of questions continued to arise in his mind. But there was not much time left to analyze this matter further in this situation.
