Wilderness (5th Zone)

Boom!

When the aftermath settled down, everyone saw the result of the destruction. The surrounding area covering a couple of hundred metres was completely destroyed.

The dense smoke had formed a mushroom cloud in the sky. It was already getting to be night time, making the situation even more dangerous.

Even in the night time, everyone could feel the heat radiating from the scorched land. The two Tier-8 Flame-Type Beasts had neutralized the attacks from the Tier-9 Lizard.

Roar!

The Red-Brown Bear and the Flame Lion let out a roar. They were able to stop the sand vortex attack.

The Tier-9 Lizard Beast was taken aback by the result. It didn’t expect the two attacks to be canceled out. Its gaze hardened.

It saw that the two Flame-Type Beasts were still standing there, having remained unscathed.

Roar!

The Tier-9 Lizard immediately grew furious. It still had more attacks. Unknowingly, the beast was under the influence of the improved Beast Powder’s scent, which fueled its anger further.

Under the tense gaze of the Beast Tamers, the massive lizard used its ability again.

It raised its tail once more.

Martin saw its movements and said, "The beast is not giving up. It’s gearing up for another attack. Be ready."

"Did we get any response from the Human Alliance?" Harold asked.

Hearing that, Martin’s eyes flashed with a sharp glint.

"No, it appears they are taking their time," Martin said with disappointment.

Harold knew that Martin had reported everything back to the higher-ups, including the matter related to the Darkshade Organisation.

Behind them, the others were listening to their words, as the conversation was not quiet.

The Head of the Beast Taming Association and the Dean of the Central University were standing right behind them.

They were terrified by what they had just heard.

If the Human Alliance is not responding, then what does it mean? the Head of the Beast Taming Association wanted to ask. But the Tier-9 Lizard was already charging up.

Everyone saw a second sand vortex manifesting next to the first one.

Governor Martin and Head Harold ordered their Lifeline Beasts to prepare. The attack could be stronger than the previous one.

If the beasts failed to hold back the attack, they would be struck down by the powerful sand vortex.

Boom!

After the successful manifestation of the second sand vortex, the lizard didn’t stop there. It quickly began to condense a third sand vortex.

It didn’t take long for the three sand vortexes to fuse together.

Boom!

The family heads and other Beast Tamers were alarmed. They were already far back from the front line, but now they retreated even further.

Only four people remained in position: City Governor Martin and Head Harold, accompanied by the other two Governors next to them.

Behind them stood the Beast Taming Association Head and the Dean of the Central University.

Only the Flame Lion and the Red-Brown Bear stood at the front.

The Lifeline Beasts of the other two Governors were not Elemental types, so they could not provide assistance at this moment.

The Head of the Beast Taming Association and the Dean of the Central University looked toward the two Flame-Type Beasts with deep worry.

Boom!

The Red-Brown Bear and the Flame Lion received their commands and opened their mouths wide. A red flame ball manifested in the mouth of the Flame Lion.

Similarly, an orange flame ball manifested in the mouth of the Red-Brown Bear.

Boom!

The Tier-9 Earth Lizard released the sand blast attack. The fused sand vortex ball was denser and thicker than before.

Boom!

As the sand blast surged forward, it gouged a deep trench into the ground along its path.

The already overturned earth was swept away by the sheer force.

The power of the attack brought visible alarm to the faces of the Beast Tamers.

They were terrified of such destructive might. If this attack were to land on the city, the defenses would fall in an instant.

It made them truly understand the gravity of the situation and how vital it was to stop this Tier-9 Beast.

Boom!

The Flame Lion and the Red-Brown Bear released their counterattack.

The two flame beams surged forward in a straight line.

Boom!

A sharp, air-tearing screech resonated across the field.

This time, the flame balls were larger and more concentrated. The two beasts were intelligent; they didn’t hold back their power.

Even so, their combined flame spheres were still noticeably smaller than the incoming earth sand blast.

Boom!

It didn’t take long for the opposing attacks to collide.

Silence!

For a split second, there was dead silence.

Then, a massive explosion erupted at the point of collision.

The two flame balls tried desperately to halt the momentum of the sand blast, but the sheer volume of the earth attack was overwhelming.

The sand blast gradually began pushing the two flame spheres backward.

Ssshh!

The ground beneath them was subjected to extreme heat, scorching intensely under the collision. If anyone drew near that spot, they would instantly burn to ashes.

Not even the physical body of a Tier-8 Beast Tamer could withstand the residual energy.

...

Meanwhile,

Jeremy Night was on his way back to the city. He had given up searching for the Beast Tamers. Night was already falling, and he had no desire to run into a beast horde in the dark.

Facing a beast horde at night was far more perilous. Right now, his thoughts were occupied with worry for his parents.

The Governors had initially asked for volunteers to fight. Now that the situation has worsened, those volunteers might be called up again.

He feared that this time, it wouldn’t just be volunteers, everyone might be mandated to step onto the battlefield. If that happened, he would be powerless to stop it.

It was the duty of every Beast Tamer to fight against corrupted beasts. He had already relocated his parents from the 14th Zone to the 10th Zone, and subsequently from the 10th Zone to the 5th Zone.

He had believed the remote zones were unsafe, but the current crisis made him regret the move. In hindsight, the 14th Zone seemed much safer.

Tier-8 or Tier-9 beasts would never attack a remote city like that; it was rare even for corrupted beasts above Tier-5 to appear in those regions.

The only silver lining was that the natural energy here in the 5th Zone was many times denser than back in the 14th Zone.
