Chapter 995: Venturing into the wilderness

5th Zone, City-A

Jeremy Night became quiet. He didn’t ask much about the beast tide. He decided to enter the wilderness later to check for himself.

He began to spend time with his parents. They asked about the Special Base and other things. He avoided the dangerous topics and mostly talked about the training.

Melinda was here as well. She didn’t believe everything because she had some knowledge about the 4th Zone and the Special Base near it.

She knew that competition there was cutthroat. You had to fight for the resources. Most importantly, the wilderness out there was more dangerous than the wilderness here.

But she didn’t expose him. She understood why Jeremy Night was able to grow stronger. The resources there in the Special Base were rich.

She didn’t know how many do-or-die missions Jeremy Night had done. She was right earlier. She thought Jeremy Night deserved to enter the top three zones.

The growth rate of Jeremy Night was terrifying.

Time passed.

Around midnight, he decided to leave. He told his parents that he would find a hotel nearby. He and Melinda left the hospital.

They came outside. Melinda wanted him to go back to the organisation. He could use one of the rooms there. But Jeremy rejected it.

He didn’t want others to know about his return yet.

Melinda nodded her head and left the place in a cab. He was also looking for a nearby hotel. There was one within walking distance from here.

He started walking along the footpath. He came across other people; they were locals. He soon found the nearby hotel.

He then went inside the hotel to check in. He found a good, spacious room for himself. After finishing the booking, he paid the amount. Next, he went to that room.

One hour later,

He left the hotel. There were not many cabs outside. He approached one of the cabs. He spoke to the driver and asked him to drop him off in front of the city gate.

20 minutes later,

The cab reached the City Gate. He exited the cab and paid the fare to the driver. He saw that the City Gate was empty, except there were more guards outside.

He walked up to the city gate. The guard stopped him. He then showed his Red Moon Chamber ID card.

"I want to enter the wilderness," Jeremy Night said.

The guards checked the card. Then they allowed him to enter the wilderness. Jeremy Night was surprised. He had thought there was some ban.

It appeared he was mistaken. He then walked through the gate and entered the wilderness. He looked around the place.

Even though it was nighttime, he could still see clearly due to his eye power. The terrain brought back memories.

How could he forget the wilderness here? Especially his conflicts against the Darkshade Organisation. He didn’t know what had happened to that organisation.

Fortunately, no such problems existed in the Special Base. Next, he picked a direction and started his journey.

He used the Feathered Steps, and in the blink of an eye, he disappeared into the wilderness.

As time passed, Jeremy Night went deeper into the wilderness. He was now running through the forest of the inner area. He would soon enter the core area.

He came across a few Tier-3 and Tier-4 Corrupted Beasts, but he ignored them. He had entered the area beyond the core area; specifically, he reached the border area of the place.

He knew how dangerous the unknown land beyond the border was. Soon, he came across a battle site. He saw corpses of Beast Tamers, Lifeline Beasts, and Corrupted Beasts.

He estimated it could be a couple of days since their deaths. He then moved past them. He wanted to go to the border.

Hiss!

A Tier-5 Purple Snake found him. He thought of avoiding the beast, but the beast followed him.

At one point, he turned around to face the beast.

The beast was charging at him in a zigzag manner.

But he was using his eye power. His senses kicked in, so the movement of the beast appeared slow under his eyes.

He extended his right hand. A starlight thread wrapped around his forefinger. In the blink of an eye, there were many wraps.

Swoosh!

When the snake beast appeared before him, he released the starlight thread. The starlight thread extended in a straight line.

The snake beast was a few inches away from him. Right then, the thin starlight thread penetrated the body of the beast.

Pfff!

Jeremy Night brought the starlight thread downward.

It cleaved the beast’s body in two. The blood splattered across the ground as the cleaved body fell to the ground.

Thud!

The beast’s body crashed to the ground with a heavy thud.

It took him less than a minute. He didn’t need to grab a blade or use his fist moves; the finger thread was enough.

He had little practice with this self-created concept compared to his other moves, yet it was powerful against the Tier-5 Corrupted Beast.

Swoosh!

Jeremy Night then turned around and left the place. He was going at full speed. He didn’t expect a Tier-5 beast to survive the previous battle.

There could be more beasts hiding somewhere. He decided to be careful. Right now, he wanted to reach the border.

As time passed, he got much closer to the border. He came across many corpses on the ground.

The Corrupted Beasts had signs that they were killed by other beasts. He could confirm that it was a fight between the Corrupted Beasts and the Lifeline Beasts.

He looked at the site. It was a gruesome scene. He thought it must have been a powerful battle between Tier-6 Beast Tamers and Tier-6 Corrupted Beasts.

He then recalled the words of Sister Melinda. The city was struggling to recruit Beast Tamers.

Don’t tell me the casualties were so high that they were facing a shortage of Beast Tamers in the entire 5th Zone.

Jeremy Night then collected his thoughts and resumed his journey towards the border. He thought he could only find answers at the border.
