Chapter 1006: Official Announcement (Beast Invasion)
Restaurant
Jeremy Night made a decision in his heart and started enjoying his food. Melinda’s heart was in turmoil.
Her worst nightmare had come true. When Head Harold assigned her the task, she knew the Head was up to something, but she didn’t expect to hear about the situation in the wilderness.
She figured out that the City Governors and Head Harold must be involved as well. She was now afraid that Jeremy Night might do something.
If it had been earlier, she would have persuaded him, but she thought she had little chance right now. She looked at Jeremy Night. Seeing him comfortably enjoying his food, she felt worse in her heart.
"Jeremy, your parents don’t want you to get involved in danger. Head Harold and the City Governors will take care of the problems here," Melinda said.
Hearing that, Jeremy raised his head and looked at her.
"Sister, first enjoy your food. I won’t do anything reckless," Jeremy replied to her.
"I’m afraid..." She was about to say something.
Then Jeremy Night stopped her. He looked into her eyes and said, "If I’m about to do anything, I will take you with me."
Hearing that, Melinda became even more afraid. She confirmed that Jeremy Night was up to something, but he was not telling her.
She then shook her head before eating her food as well, but she had lost her appetite already.
...
Wilderness
Three Tier-7 members from each of the four sides had started clearing out the mid-tier beasts. They had long wanted to eliminate the beasts.
It was because of City Governor Martin’s order that they had been waiting for so long. Now that he had given the green light, the Beast Tamers decided to eliminate all the beasts.
But it was not an easy fight. The mid-tier beasts were a mix of Tier-5 to Tier-7. By past noon, an additional number of Tier-7 Beasts had crossed the border.
If they had acted a bit late, it could have led to a dangerous situation.
Because the Tier-7 Corrupted beasts were themselves capable of commanding the Tier-6 and Tier-5 Beasts under them.
Now the Tier-7 Beast Tamers felt overwhelmed. They wanted to kill all the beasts here, but the Tier-7 Beasts were posing a challenge. They didn’t know when such a large number of Tier-7 beasts had appeared.
It was impossible for the three of them to handle it alone. One of them went back to report.
They needed the help of a Tier-8 Beast Tamer to quickly kill the incoming Tier-7 beasts coming from beyond the border.
It didn’t take long for City Governor Martin, Head Harold, and the other two City Governors to know about it. They immediately sent a few Tier-8 Beast Tamers to cover the long border.
Since the border was long, they had fought one round against the higher-tier beasts earlier.
Now the Tier-7 beasts were coming again in large numbers. It was time for the second round. Martin thought it was possible for Tier-8 Beasts to infiltrate next.
He was communicating with the lifeline beasts, but there had been no such situation so far.
Suddenly, the Head of the Beast Taming Association spoke.
He said, "I heard you have put a ban on Beast Tamers entering the wilderness."
Hearing that, City Governor Martin turned towards him.
He raised his eyebrows and said, "Yes."
"Why so much confusion?"
"Everything is heading toward a Beast Invasion. First, it was the mid-tier beasts. Next, it was the higher-tier beasts. Now we are going to fight against both of them."
"Let the Beast Tamers handle the mid-tier beasts. We should focus on the upcoming threat," he added.
Right then, the Head of the Central University made a suggestion.
"City Governor Martin, no one is going to blame you. You should let the Beast Tamers enter the wilderness," he said.
It didn’t take long for others to join in with the same opinion. They didn’t want to be overwhelmed by the Corrupted beasts.
Only the City Governors and Head Harold knew about the dangers of the improved Beast Powder. They hadn’t told others.
Martin then made a decision. Things were taking an unexpected turn. He wanted to deal with each tier of beasts one by one.
He didn’t expect the higher-tier beasts to join while the mid-tier beasts were being hunted down.
He looked towards the Head of the Beast Taming Association and the Dean of the Central University. Both organizations were important.
He decided to listen to them. He then agreed to let the Beast Tamers in, but he set a strict condition: only volunteers were allowed, and only Tier-5 Beast Tamers and above.
Hearing that, both of them disliked the condition, but it was better than nothing. The Head of the Beast Taming Association heaved a sigh of relief.
The Dean of the Central University didn’t make any further demands. It didn’t take long for the news to reach the other two City Governors and Head Harold.
Head Harold frowned. He didn’t like the decision at all. They were afraid of the improved Beast Powder. What if more than one Tier-9 Beast were to appear at the same time?
It would become a one-sided slaughter. If the Beast Tamers from the city were to enter the wilderness again, they would face imminent death. That’s why they were hesitating to announce it as a Beast Invasion.
Head Harold let out a sigh. Now that the decision was made, it could be considered an official Beast Tide. He thought of Jeremy Night.
He felt a headache coming on. He had promised Jeremy’s parents that he wouldn’t let danger befall that kid.
Yet he knew Jeremy Night would definitely enter the wilderness now. He wanted to send a message back to Melinda, but there was no connection.
He decided to trust the kid. He knew Jeremy Night could fight across tiers. He was doing well in the special base as well. He believed the kid could protect himself.
He then pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the current situation. The situation needed his attention.
He told the others to spread across the stretch and informed them that it was official now, they were facing a Beast Invasion.
