CRACKLE!

The lamp’s wick suddenly let out a sharp crack.

The dim yellow flame shot up, flickering violently inside the glass lampshade.

The dancing firelight cast the silhouette of the figure behind the desk onto the bookshelf.

It was an old man.

His body was strong and upright. His skin was covered in fine wrinkles, the creases at the corners of his eyes and on his forehead deep yet soft.

His grayish-white hair was shoulder-length and slightly curled.

So was his equally silver-white beard.

It gave him the air of a wise man.

At this moment, he was leaning back in a rattan chair, dressed in a simple white robe.

His face was kindly, with reading glasses perched on his nose, reflecting the flickering lamplight from the desk before him.

He was holding an open book in both hands.

He appeared to be reading intently.

From his appearance, there was almost no difference between him and an ordinary elderly human.

However, what appeared here could not possibly be human, only an Alien Origin Body.

It was just that, compared to other Alien Origin Bodies, this one’s external appearance was almost too normal.

Looking at the old man, information about him surfaced in Hu Qi’s mind.

gn-000 God.

According to currently known information, his Abilities numbered more than a dozen, including but not limited to flight, teleportation, matter manipulation, and even precognition.

And this was far from his limit.

In the records of the White Pagoda, his power was described as something close to invincibility.

This was also why he was designated with the codename gn-000 God.

Combined with this public image he projected,

he was just like the God from the Bible of legend.

More importantly,

this Alien Origin Body’s attitude toward humans was exceptionally gentle. He even frequently took the initiative to help the White Pagoda deal with troublesome contained objects.

Because of the Extraordinary Power and personality he displayed, he was respectfully referred to within the White Pagoda as the Supreme Divinity.

Faced with this special entity, all of the White Pagoda’s existing containment methods seemed inadequate.

They could neither effectively contain him nor subject him to routine testing or restrictions.

The so-called containment chamber was, in reality, more like a temporary residence provided for him.

This entity maintained complete freedom of movement, often leaving the White Pagoda for short periods.

He would then quietly return at some later time.

Among the many contained objects in the White Pagoda,

he was considered the one with the highest status, the most freedom, and the most special.

Just then,

it seemed to notice Hu Qi’s gaze.

It lowered the book in its hands, and the eyes behind the lenses slowly turned.

Its gaze fell directly on him.

The next second,

its originally dark brown irises changed, flooded by a white light until they became pure white.

Hu Qi, possessing Kalu’s memories, understood that this was a form of defensive alert unique to it.

"Our first meeting, Kalu. Or should I say, Your Excellency, the World Serpent!"

the old man said.

"As expected of the omniscient and omnipotent God! To think you recognized my identity at a glance!"

Hu Qi chuckled softly.

He took a step forward, his body passing straight through the glass and into the study.

Seeing this, the old man called ’God’ remained impassive.

"Not at all. I can sense that Your Excellency’s power is in no way inferior to my own!"

’God’ smiled and pointed a finger.

A rattan chair materialized out of thin air opposite the desk.

"Please, sit."

Hu Qi didn’t refuse, plopping down into the chair with a swagger.

Seeing this, ’God’ finally spoke again.

"May I ask what brings Your Excellency here this time?"

"Aren’t you omniscient and omnipotent? How could you not know?"

Hu Qi said.

His words made ’God’ pause for a moment.

"There is no such thing as omniscience or omnipotence in this world. If there were, why would I still need to read books? Everything I know is merely the result of rational deduction and logical construction built upon a foundation of known information."

’God’ shook his head.

"Is that so? It’s nothing much, really. I was just a little curious what the ’God’ known as the Supreme Divinity, the omniscient and omnipotent one, was really like."

Hu Qi paused here.

He casually reached out and picked up the book ’God’ had left on the desk.

On the cover were six words:

Statistics in Psychology and Behavioral Science

It was a book on human psychology.

It detailed the basic concepts, research methods, and design principles of experimental psychology, using numerous examples and case studies to analyze human psychology.

"Also, I have a question for you. I was wondering if you could answer it for me."

"Oh? And what question might that be?"

’God’ said.

His gaze, however, fell on Hu Qi’s hand.

He seemed very concerned about Hu Qi touching its book.

"It’s nothing important. I just want to know what the ultimate origin of the Alien Origin Bodies is. I wonder, can you answer that for me?"

Hu Qi’s gaze was like a torch, fixed directly on him.

The movements of ’God’ suddenly froze for an instant.

Then he shook his head.

"Actually, that question... I have also been searching for the answer, for the meaning of our existence. But so far, I have found nothing."

Its voice was slow, as if in deep thought.

"Perhaps it is simply the rules of the world itself, like the changing of the sun and moon, the Reincarnation of life, the movement of the stars... Everything is the world’s choice."

Hearing this, the corners of Hu Qi’s lips curled up, but there was not a trace of a smile in his eyes.

He slowly steepled his long, slender fingers, his well-defined hands casting a faint shadow on the tabletop.

"Stop with the riddles."

His voice suddenly turned cold.

"Do you truly not know, or do you just not want to say? Or perhaps... you don’t dare?"

The moment his words fell,

his eyes abruptly transformed into crimson serpent pupils.

In an instant, the air itself seemed to solidify.
