Before him was a long, narrow corridor that stretched into the darkness.

Lining both sides of the corridor were containment units constructed from a special transparent material, each one like a self-contained world.

Some held entire primeval forests, others miniature deserts, and still others imprisoned a small patch of distorted starry sky.

This was the White Pagoda’s core containment area for Alien Origin Bodies, dedicated to imprisoning anomalous entities with high levels of intelligence.

The material used to build the containment cells also came from an Alien Origin Body.

It outwardly manifested as a transparent, glass-like substance.

It could grow continuously, and containment cells made from it possessed the Ability to isolate the movements of most Alien Origin Bodies.

SPLASH!

The sudden sound of water shattered the dead silence.

Hu Qi turned toward the source of the sound.

It was a seemingly empty containment unit, with nothing inside but an ancient, stone-lined spring.

Just then, the calm surface of the water began to churn violently. A column of water shot up, coalescing and taking shape in mid-air, finally forming a translucent young girl.

She stood barefoot on the water’s surface, her ephemeral body formed from the flowing liquid.

At that moment, she seemed to see Hu Qi.

Her whole form drifted closer.

"Kalu, did you come to see me?"

A sweet smile graced her face.

Hu Qi glanced at her.

Information about the entity surfaced in his mind.

’Designation: lb-510, Narcissus.

’This entity possesses a free-form transformation Ability, allowing it to switch at will between human form, various animal forms, and even abstract geometric shapes.

’It falls into a dormant state at low temperatures and becomes frenzied and extremely aggressive at high temperatures.

’Therefore, it is kept in a climate-controlled containment cell, with the temperature stabilized at around twenty-five degrees Celsius.

’At this temperature, the entity is at its most stable.

’Its most common external manifestation is that of a human little girl.

’Her mentality is also indistinguishable from a human girl’s—lively, active, extremely friendly toward humans, and fond of interacting with staff. She is also exceptionally cooperative during all forms of testing.

’She is considered one of the few easy-to-manage humanoid Alien Origin Bodies.’

"Has God returned?"

Hu Qi ignored her question, instead asking about something else.

"He’s back. God is in there!"

When she mentioned ’God,’ a human-like expression of fear appeared on the girl’s face.

It seemed she was terrified of this ’God’.

With that, her entire form dissolved back into a stream of water and flowed into the spring behind her.

Hu Qi paid it no mind and continued straight ahead.

The cold, alloy corridor stretched out on either side of him, the observation windows of one containment cell after another sliding past.

As his figure passed by,

some of the containment cells were quiet.

But from others came rustling sounds.

For instance, an infant-like creature pressed its palm against the glass, snowflake crystals forming in the white mist of its breath as it stared at him with curiosity.

In another, a translucent, jelly-like lifeform would continuously Bounce inside its cell.

Each time it contracted, it would spray out starbursts of different colors.

And in yet another, a winged fountain pen hovered in the center of the cell, constantly drawing on the floor.

Whatever it drew would become three-dimensional.

However, due to the unique properties of the containment cells, these three-dimensional drawings would vanish again after just a few seconds.

The list of strange and bizarre Alien Origin Bodies went on and on.

Hu Qi didn’t slow his pace.

He only stopped when he reached the containment cell at the very end of the corridor.

This cell was completely different from the others.

It had been converted into a study, much like a model showroom.

Several walls were lined with dark, solid wood bookshelves.

They stretched from floor to ceiling, filled with neatly arranged, overlapping rows of books. The leather covers of ancient tomes and the gilded lettering on their spines gleamed faintly in the dim light.

In the center of the room sat a heavy oak desk.

An old-fashioned desk lamp with a brass base was lit, its warm yellow light filtering through a dark green glass shade to cast a soft halo on the desktop.

And at that desk, a figure was seated.
