Chapter 491 - 223: Sorry, Husband, I Was Wrong
Back inside the RV.
Xu Yun looked at Fu Baoying and asked, "Later, do you prefer to be on top or on the bottom?"
"Top or bottom of what?"
"Sleeping."
Xu Yun said, "I only have a bunk bed here. You can take the bottom bunk. I’m fine with either top or bottom."
"I’ll take the bottom."
"Oh, so you like to be on the bottom."
Fu Baoying was speechless.
A few minutes later, they were both in bed, one on the top bunk and one on the bottom.
Outside the RV, stars dotted the sky.
Lin Wanzhou sipped the coffee Fu Baoying had given him and gazed at the night sky, his eyes tinged with a hint of sorrow as he recalled bits and pieces of his past.
Inside the RV, the lighting was soft and warm, creating an intimate space for just the two of them. The occasional gust of night wind from outside only served to highlight the cozy warmth within.
Just as Xu Yun was about to drift off to sleep, he suddenly felt something push up on his bunk from below.
He asked in exasperation, "What are you doing?"
It was Fu Baoying. She couldn’t sleep, finding it hard to get used to the strange bed, so she had gently kicked the bottom of his bunk with her foot.
"Are you asleep?"
"Well, even if I was, that kick would have woken me up."
"I can’t sleep. Will you talk with me for a bit?"
"Your insomnia is not my problem. If you want to chat, go find Old Lin outside. I’m sure he’d be thrilled."
Xu Yun ruthlessly refused her. "I’m warning you, don’t you kick the bottom of my bunk again. Otherwise, I’ll come down and sleep right next to you, or I’ll just throw you out of my RV altogether."
Fu Baoying fell silent.
Insomnia is only temporary. Once you’re tired enough, you won’t even realize the moment you fall asleep.
And that’s exactly what happened to Fu Baoying.
She didn’t wake until she felt a tickle on her nose. When she opened her eyes, she was greeted by Xu Yun’s smiling face.
In one hand, he held a lock of her hair.
It was obvious he had been using her own hair to tickle her while she slept.
Seeing she was awake, Xu Yun said, "Hurry and get up. It’s almost dawn."
"What are you doing up so early?"
Fu Baoying felt like she’d only just managed to fall asleep before Xu Yun woke her up.
"Come outside and you’ll see."
With that, Xu Yun turned and left the RV.
Fu Baoying was puzzled. Peering out the window at the pitch-black darkness, she had no idea what he was up to.
Nevertheless, she got out of bed, put on her thermal wear, and stepped outside.
The cold wind stung her face.
She walked over and sat down in a chair next to Xu Yun and Lin Wanzhou, asking quizzically, "What are we waiting for?"
"A golden light."
Fu Baoying stared at him, completely baffled.
About ten minutes later, while she was still trying to figure it out, the sky slowly began to brighten.
A massive, snow-capped mountain suddenly materialized in her view.
She had arrived late yesterday and hadn’t noticed it at all.
Then, as the sun rose, its golden rays pierced through the thin clouds and fell upon the mountain’s peak. A brilliant golden glow appeared, gradually spreading downwards until the entire mountain seemed to be made of gold.
At this moment, the world seemed to stand still.
Standing at the foot of the mountain, they gazed up at the sacred splendor, an inexpressible sense of awe and wonder filling their hearts.
"Sunrise on the golden mountain!"
Xu Yun tore his eyes away from the sight and turned to Fu Baoying. "Beautiful, isn’t it? Breathtaking."
"You stayed here all night just to see this?"
"Yeah."
Xu Yun explained, "This is Meili Snow Mountain. This is the only spot on the entire G219 highway where you can see it. You’re lucky you got to. You really scored."
"It really is beautiful."
"A view this good... charging you 100,000 for it wouldn’t be too much, would it?"
Fu Baoying exclaimed, "You’re going to charge me for this too???"
"Of course! If I hadn’t woken you up, would you have seen it?"
Xu Yun replied, "Therefore, that 100,000 is my wake-up service fee. Please transfer it to me promptly, or I’ll have to kick you out of the RV."
Fu Baoying stared, completely floored.
After watching the sunrise on the golden mountain, they set off again.
Lin Wanzhou had been on watch all night, so he was in no condition to drive. He went straight to bed.
Xu Yun took the wheel, following the GPS as he drove on.
Fu Baoying sat in the passenger seat, also dozing off.
She had slept late due to her insomnia, and then Xu Yun had woken her up at the crack of dawn to see the sunrise. She’d barely gotten a few hours of sleep.
But every time she was about to fall asleep, Xu Yun would deliberately talk to her.
After five hours of continuous driving, they entered Tibet. The scenery changed to vast, endless grasslands and rolling, snow-capped mountains.
Lin Wanzhou woke up and took over for Xu Yun at the wheel.
Back in the rear cabin, Xu Yun noticed that Fu Baoying, sitting beside him, seemed a bit lethargic. It wasn’t just sleepiness.
"What’s wrong?"
Leaning back in her seat, Fu Baoying replied, "I have a bit of a headache, and I feel nauseous."
As soon as he heard that, Xu Yun knew she was showing classic signs of altitude sickness.
He grabbed a can of Coke from the fridge and handed it to her. "Here, drink this. It’ll make you feel better."
"I don’t drink Coke."
"This could save your life."
Xu Yun said, "You have altitude sickness. The nearest hospital is over a hundred kilometers away. If this gets even a little bit worse, you could be in serious trouble. You might even die on the road."
Fu Baoying was silent.
At Xu Yun’s insistence, she popped it open and took a sip. She felt an instant wave of relief.
"It actually seems to be working."
With that, she took several more gulps.
"That can is 50,000. Don’t forget to pay me."
Fu Baoying was exasperated. "You’re charging me 50,000 for a can of Coke that costs a couple of bucks? Why don’t you just rob someone?"
"This isn’t Coke. It’s life-saving medicine."
Xu Yun grabbed a can for himself and started drinking. He grinned as he shot back, "President Fu, are you saying your life and health aren’t even worth 50,000?"
"Are you determined to keep being this obnoxious, or are you just embarrassing yourself?"
’He’s clearly loaded, yet he insists on haggling with me over every little thing.’
