The highly suggestive atmosphere shattered in an instant.

Seeing that Xu Yun wasn’t trying to make a move on her, Jian Shiwai was about to resume her explanation when he cut her off. "You can stop. Do you have a recommendation? I’ll go with whatever you suggest."

"Whatever I suggest?" Jian Shiwai asked, a little surprised.

"Yes. You seem to know your stuff. I’m sure you already have a suitable model in mind to recommend, right?"

"President Xu, if I were buying one for myself, I’d definitely get the popular Gulfstream G550."

Jian Shiwai replied, "For one, it’s a great value for the price. Second, it’s been on the market for a long time and is well-tested, so its safety and stability are top-notch."

"That’s the one, then."

Xu Yun nodded. "I’ll probably have to trouble you to handle this. Please help me purchase it, and also take care of all the follow-up, like hiring the crew, handling the paperwork, and so on.

"As for the payment, just charge it directly to my bank card. I can authorize you to do so."

"President Xu, I’m not sure that’s a good idea."

Jian Shiwai swallowed hard. "This is a deal worth hundreds of millions, after all. Maybe you should handle it personally."

"There’s nothing to worry about."

Xu Yun smiled. "Manager Jian, I trust you as much as I trust myself."

A matter involving a jet worth hundreds of millions was decided so easily by Xu Yun, and he had entrusted it all to her.

Afterward, the two of them drank tea for a bit, admired the river view, and chatted for a while.

Xu Yun shared some amusing stories from his travels, and Jian Shiwai talked about her work.

She even mentioned that she might be getting a promotion because of him.

Hearing this, Xu Yun was happy for her. He casually picked up a teacup from the table—one worth over a hundred thousand yuan—and gave it to her as an early congratulatory gift for the future Chairman Jian.

He did, however, tell the future Chairman Jian that she would have to treat him to dinner then.

Jian Shiwai smiled and promised she definitely would.

Throughout their entire conversation, Xu Yun was relaxed and casual.

His words, his gaze, his actions—nothing gave Jian Shiwai the slightest hint that he had any ulterior motives.

So much so that after they finished talking and she had left his home, she still found it somewhat unbelievable as she sat in her car.

But more than that, as she looked in the mirror at her meticulously made-up reflection, she was overcome by a deep sense of self-doubt.

’Am I really that unattractive?’

While she might not be a peerless beauty, she was still exceptionally attractive compared to most people. Back in college, she was even considered one of the campus belles.

Even now, plenty of eligible men around her were still interested in her, some openly and some in secret.

’So it’s not like I lack appeal.’

Women are just like that.

When you show interest in them, they think you’re disrespectful, that all men are just lecherous by nature.

But when you show no interest in their looks whatsoever, they feel a bit wronged and faintly disappointed. They think you have no taste, that you’re not a real man!

Being a man is tough!

But there was one thing Jian Shiwai hadn’t expected when she arrived: that Xu Yun would entrust the entire process of buying the jet to her.

This was an incredibly lucrative task.

Setting aside the possibility of kickbacks, just the bonus she would receive from the sales team for a successful transaction would be a considerable sum!

Anyone with half a brain knew this.

Jian Shiwai didn’t believe for a second that Xu Yun was unaware of this. The fact that he was still willing to let her handle it meant he was tacitly allowing her to pocket that bonus.

And on that point, Jian Shiwai was right.

Xu Yun had indeed accepted that Jian Shiwai would receive a bonus; in fact, he considered it a gift from him to her.

In his eyes, Jian Shiwai was running around taking care of his affairs, so she deserved this fee. It was compensation for her hard work.

When it came to treating people, Xu Yun was never stingy. He had a very generous and broad-minded perspective.

’Everyone’s out here to make money and live a better life,’ he thought. ’No one is obligated to do you favors.’

’Not unless you make it worth their while.’

「As evening approached.」

After resting for the day, Xu Yun changed his clothes and prepared to head out for a gathering.

That afternoon, his old college classmate, Chen Yang, had called him out of the blue. He said he was in Jiangcheng and had organized a get-together for their old college friends that evening.

Xu Yun still had a good impression of this roommate, whom he hadn’t seen since graduation.

Back in their school days, Chen Yang had brought him meals more times than he could count. Calling him a "lifesaver" would be an understatement!

He’d occasionally heard through their WeChat group that Chen Yang had gone back to his hometown to work in the construction industry with his father.

In just a few years, he had gone from being a small-time contractor to owning his own construction company. Business was apparently pretty good, and he was now a proper boss.

Xu Yun figured he had two reasons for coming: one was to see classmates he hadn’t met in years, and the other was to show off his success.

After all, most of their classmates who had stayed in the big city instead of going home were slaving away at their jobs. It seemed Chen Yang was the most successful of the bunch.

Since he didn’t have a car and it was still early, Xu Yun used his phone to unlock a shared bike by the roadside. He set off for his destination, deciding to take a leisurely ride along Binjiang Road.

He hadn’t ridden a shared bike in a long time, not since he’d come into money.

But his state of mind and feelings while riding one now were completely different from before.

Back when he was broke, riding a shared bike was a necessity, and it felt miserable.

Every time he watched the cars whiz past, his eyes would fill with envy and helplessness, wondering when he would ever be able to afford one of his own.

Now that he was rich, he rode a shared bike to enjoy the experience, and it made him happy.

Now, as luxury cars passed him by, he felt completely unperturbed. He didn’t care in the slightest. He even felt that driving wasn’t all that great—it couldn’t compare to the simple pleasure of riding a little yellow bike with the evening breeze on his face.

Looking back, the bikes were still the same, but the person riding them was no longer the same man.

Just as Xu Yun was reflecting on how far he’d come, a traffic cop suddenly appeared at a turn and flagged him down.

The reason: he wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Xu Yun was confused. "But this little yellow bike doesn’t come with a helmet."

"Just because it doesn’t come with one, you can’t bring your own?"

The cop replied matter-of-factly. "Didn’t you take the written driver’s test? Don’t you know you have to wear a helmet when riding an electric bike?"

Xu Yun was speechless.

’He’s got a point.’

Xu Yun asked, "Alright, how much is the fine? I’ll pay it."

"The fine isn’t the point. The main goal is to make you remember the traffic safety rules."

The officer said, "You just wait right here. Once you spot the next person who isn’t wearing a helmet, just like you, then you can go."

Xu Yun was speechless again.

’How long is that going to take?!’

Xu Yun thought for a moment, then picked up his phone and called Yan Can.

"Hey, where are you?"

"I was just about to grab a bite near Binjiang Road. What’s up, Brother Xu?"

"Perfect. I’m on Binjiang Road too. Go grab a shared bike and come over here."

Xu Yun said, "I’m going to introduce you to a person of authority. I guarantee you’ll benefit greatly and learn a lot."

"Who?" Yan Can asked, puzzled by Xu Yun’s mysterious tone.

"You’ll know when you get here."

"Do I have to ride a bike? Can’t I just drive over?"

"Nope. It has to be one of the little yellow bikes."

Xu Yun replied, "This official is a big fan of carbon-free transportation. This way, you’ll make a good impression on him."

"Alright, got it."

"I’m on my way!" Yan Can said over the phone.

「A little over ten minutes later.」

Xu Yun watched as Yan Can came rushing over on a little yellow bike.

He wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Standing on the curb, Xu Yun smiled, waved, and called out, "Over here, over here."

Yan Can saw him and rode over, stopping his bike. "Brother Xu."

"Officer, he’s not wearing a helmet."

Xu Yun ignored Yan Can and turned to the traffic cop. "Can I go now?"

"You may."

The corner of the cop’s mouth twitched as he watched Xu Yun’s slick move.

’You’re a real great friend, aren’t you!’

"Thanks, sir."

The dumbfounded Yan Can asked blankly, "Brother Xu, what’s going on? Didn’t you say you were going to introduce me to someone important?"

"I did. This traffic officer right here."

Xu Yun patted his shoulder and said earnestly, "You should take a moment to learn about traffic safety from the officer. It’ll be good for you."

With that, he rode off on his little yellow bike.

Yan Can was left utterly confused. "???"

The cop looked at the helmetless Yan Can, recited the traffic regulations to him, and then repeated impassively, "Once you spot the next person who isn’t wearing a helmet, then you can go."

Yan Can was speechless.

A few minutes later, he silently pulled out his phone and called one of his buddies.

"Hey, Monkey, where are you?"

"Yeah, I’ve got a great opportunity for you."

"First, grab a little yellow bike and come meet me. Remember, it has to be a little yellow bike. I’m gonna introduce you to a really impressive guy..."
