Chapter 1542: Delegating Authority
"Cuihua, what’s the matter for calling?"
Upon hearing Xu Hua’s voice, Wang Cuixia immediately asked where the two of them were.
"Where did you and Dad go? I’ve searched the whole house, but there’s no sign of you. You both went out without letting me know, do you know how worried I’ve been?"
Only then did Xu Hua realize that he left in a hurry and didn’t inform Wang Cuixia.
Since he’s used to staying at home and rarely goes out, it completely slipped his mind to notify the family.
"Sorry, I really forgot. I’m playing chess with Dad in the park. If you need anything now, we’ll head back immediately."
Xu Hua’s words took Wang Cuixia by surprise; her husband was actually playing chess with his father in the park.
Since marrying into the family, Wang Cuixia had never seen them appear together in one place.
After so many years, Wang Cuixia thought life would just go on like this, but she didn’t expect their relationship to change so much.
Even if Wang Cuixia lacks insight, she wouldn’t ask them to come back now.
After all, her husband’s usual demeanor constantly expressed his eagerness to reconcile with his father.
"No need, no need. You two keep playing chess. I’ll come by soon; I have some matters to discuss with Father."
Wang Cuixia’s words surprised Xu Hua, but he understood his wife’s intention and felt warmth in his heart.
Wang Cuixia’s actions were completely considerate of him, hoping they could spend more time with the elder Xu.
"Alright, we’ll wait for you in the park." After saying this, he hung up the phone.
"What’s up, was it Cuihua calling?" The elder Xu chuckled.
"Yes, Father. It was Cuihua. She said she had something for you and would be here soon."
When it comes to Wang Cuixia, the elder Xu feels a bit guilty toward her.
Because of him, his son has had no achievements for most of his life.
Yet Wang Cuixia has stayed by his side, and has even helped the Xu family with many things.
"Xu Hua! Our Xu family owes Cuihua a great deal in this life, you must never let her down."
The elder Xu’s words stunned Xu Hua; he had never considered doing anything that disappointed Cuihua.
In his view, no matter who he upset in this life, he could never upset his wife.
She has been incredibly tolerant of him, and without her, Juhua probably wouldn’t know what state he would be in now.
Moreover, Wang Cuixia has given him such an outstanding son. In Xu Ke, Xu Hua sees himself in his younger years and also sees the things he couldn’t accomplish before; he believes Xu Ke will achieve them.
"Dad, don’t worry, even if I die, I could never betray Cuihua."
Father and son were clearly in sync, as they felt their relationship slowly transforming.
"Son, regarding your mother, I truly exhausted all connections back then but couldn’t uncover the truth behind it."
Hearing the elder Xu mention this matter again, Xu Hua felt particularly uncomfortable.
But even so, he could never forget how sudden his mother’s passing was.
Back when Xu Hua was only in his teens, his mother was still working alongside his father in the company.
But during that time, the company seemed to face various bottlenecks.
His father and mother were immensely worried about the situation, leading to frequent arguments.
One day, after a heated argument, his mother suddenly stormed out.
By the time Xu Hua realized, his mother was nowhere to be found.
The elder Xu was too angry at the time and didn’t immediately chase after her.
By the time he came to his senses, his mother had long disappeared.
The elder Xu strained his connections to finally locate Xu Ke’s mother, but what they couldn’t accept was finding Xu Ke’s mother lying in the hospital morgue.
According to the hospital staff, after arguing with his father, Xu Ke’s mother rushed to the city center in a fury.
But when she crossed a street, a speeding train suddenly emerged.
Xu Ke’s mother hadn’t noticed it and was directly knocked down.
By the time she was sent to the hospital, excessive blood loss had already rendered rescue efforts futile.
Upon learning of his mother’s tragic fate, Xu Ke understandably couldn’t accept it.
He laid all blame for his mother’s death on his father, starting to resent and distance himself from the elder Xu.
Even after all these years, whenever Xu Hua thinks of this incident, he feels painfully distressed.
"Dad, let’s not talk about the past. I have already come to terms with it; let my mother rest in peace."
Uttering these words required immense courage from Xu Hua, which made the elder Xu’s heart ache even more.
After a while, Wang Cuixia arrived at the park.
From afar, she saw the elder Xu playing chess with Xu Hua.
Xu Hua had already regained his composure, and the two seemed as if nothing had ever happened.
"Cuihua, you came to find me in such a hurry; is there anything urgent?" The elder Xu asked with a smile.
"Dad, I came to find you because there’s urgent business. You and Xu Hua went out without letting me know; don’t you realize how worried I was?"
Seeing his daughter-in-law’s reaction, the elder Xu chuckled.
"I haven’t been out for a long time, so I asked Xu Hua to bring me here. It’s good that this kid got out of the house for a change."
While speaking, the elder Xu kept glancing at Xu Hua, and Wang Cuixia noticed all of this, feeling quite pleased.
"By the way, Dad, I hope you could empower me more at the company. Although you’re already semi-retired, your words are still highly revered there."
Upon hearing Wang Cuixia mention the company, the elder Xu showed keen interest.
"Cuihua, what exactly do you plan to do with this empowerment?"
Wang Cuixia then shared the plan they had previously discussed with the elder Xu in detail.
After listening, the elder Xu felt the approach seemed quite promising.
He had long found the board members irritating, but over the years, he hadn’t had the chance.
