Chapter 1604: Nervous Wreck
Arriving at the restaurant, Murong Hai parked the car right at the entrance.
Initially, he intended to take Bai Lan inside immediately, but Bai Lan showed no intention of getting out of the car.
Murong Hai was momentarily puzzled, unable to comprehend why Bai Lan was lingering.
"Lanlan, we’ve reached our destination; why aren’t you getting out?"
"I absolutely refuse to go out now; after all the effort of purchasing so much makeup, I haven’t even had a chance to glam up. Either you go inside first, or you wait here for me." Saying this, Bai Lan began to unpack the cosmetics.
Murong Hai was at a loss for words; given the situation, it wasn’t plausible for him to leave Bai Lan behind and go in alone.
"Then Lanlan, hurry up; don’t keep Xu Ke and the others waiting."
Although Murong Hai was somewhat vexed, she bore with it since Bai Lan was his girlfriend.
But Murong inwardly vowed never to spend so long shopping with Bai Lan again. If things continued this way, his patience might wear thin.
It’s not that Murong Hai disliked accompanying Bai Lan shopping, but today was indeed important, and Bai Lan’s dawdling was somewhat inappropriate.
On normal days, with nothing pressing, just the two of them, Murong Hai could accompany her from dawn till dusk without issue.
But at crucial moments like this, he couldn’t always indulge Bai Lan.
This capricious habit needs modification; otherwise, major issues could arise later.
Especially since he’s a designer, such emotions shouldn’t infiltrate his work.
Bai Lan was focused intently, applying makeup, clearly satisfied with the cosmetics.
Murong, who didn’t understand these things, casually picked up a makeup box, scrutinizing it.
He couldn’t fathom the allure these things held, causing girls to become utterly besotted.
Murong recalled a new makeup product launch abroad, where girls queued from 4 AM, lining up till 5 PM.
That time saw over two thousand people, more impressive than a recruitment fair!
Since then, Murong Hai developed a sense of dread about girls and makeup.
If he continued misunderstanding the special link that caused girls to be so obsessed with makeup.
Moreover, observing Bai Lan’s infatuation, Murong Hai was utterly bewildered.
After about ten minutes, Bai Lan finally finished her makeup.
"How do I look now?"
When Bai Lan turned, Murong Hai was instantly shocked by the sight of Bai Lan before him.
If he hadn’t been with Bai Lan, he wouldn’t have believed this radiant woman was his girlfriend.
At this point, Bai Lan exuded immense confidence, her skin incredibly smooth, akin to a newborn’s.
Murong Hai was utterly flabbergasted, not understanding what sorcery it was.
How could there be such a stark contrast between a girl’s appearance before and after makeup?
He even speculated whether the beauties he’d seen abroad had undergone similar transformations with makeup.
"Lanlan, are all girls like this?" Murong gestured towards the cosmetics beside him.
"Of course; makeup is more crucial than food for girls. If they don’t wear makeup, most won’t want to go out—hence my insistence earlier."
Murong Hai now understood the fascination girls had with makeup.
Because makeup seemed like magic, transforming a girl without flair into a completely different person.
It’s not that Bai Lan wasn’t attractive, but post-makeup, she was even more divine.
Murong Hai wasn’t drawn to Bai Lan for her looks, so the transformation merely surprised him, without deeper thoughts.
Simultaneously, Murong Hai pondered if such magical makeup effects warranted him trying it.
He was already quite handsome; would post-makeup bring a swarm of admirers?
Lost in thought, Murong Hai’s gaze inadvertently drifted to the makeup palette in Bai Lan’s hand.
Bai Lan noticed Murong Hai’s subtle gesture, instantly deciphering his boyfriend’s intentions.
"You’ve never used cosmetics? How does your skin stay so good?" Bai Lan found it incredible.
Murong Hai was unfamiliar with such products; makeup was an entirely foreign realm to him.
Otherwise, his astonished reaction upon seeing Bai Lan use them clearly indicated his inexperience.
"I’ve never used these things; my maximum is just cleansing milk."
Upon hearing Murong Hai’s words, Bai Lan was momentarily frustrated.
Comparison can indeed be infuriating; Bai Lan painstakingly maintained her skin, yet it remained somewhat sallow.
Murong Hai only used cleansing milk, never skincare products, yet his skin was immaculate—sufficient to invoke envy among girls.
Just then, Xu Ke suddenly called.
"Ah Hai, where are you now? Keyi and I have arrived at the restaurant; how long will you take?"
"We’re just at the entrance, about to come in." After hanging up, Murong Hai urged Bai Lan.
"Lanlan, are you ready? Xu Ke is getting impatient."
"Alright, alright." Bai Lan said, casually placing her things in the car.
Murong Hai led Bai Lan into the restaurant.
Bai Lan had never been to such a place; the luxurious setting indicated high expenditure.
Having just admired high-end jewelry in the mall, Bai Lan saw a gigantic diamond on display upon entering the restaurant.
Though unaware of the diamond’s quality, its ostentatious appearance attested to its significant value.
Beside it, a note mentioned it was a genuine South African natural diamond.
Murong Hai quickly noticed the diamond but remained unengaged.
"Lanlan, let’s go. It’s just an ordinary diamond, slightly larger, worth no more than a few tens of millions."
Spoken nonchalantly, Bai Lan stood incredulous beside him.
