Wang Gege’s eyes remained fixed on the blossom tree that had once been burned.

Now, only a week later, new life had already begun to emerge from its darkened branches.

Xie Rong had fulfilled his promise.

Although the three trees could not be completely restored to what they had once been, he had ordered people to do everything possible to save them. The damaged parts had been carefully treated, while the surrounding soil was tended to daily in the hope that the trees would slowly recover.

Wang Gege stood beneath one of them, quietly watching the small signs of life that had begun to appear.

As she softly hummed a ballad from her old world, strong arms suddenly wrapped gently around her waist from behind.

Wang Gege turned her head slightly. "Why are you here?"

Xie Rong rested his chin lightly against her shoulder. "Why shouldn’t I?"

Wang Gege raised a brow. "Gu Ruyan is here. Didn’t your father ask you to attend the meeting as well?"

"He did." He answered short.

Wang Gege turned her head a little further, trying to look at him. "And yet you are here?"

"This husband has more important matters to attend to." He carefully turned her around to face him.

Wang Gege’s lips twitched. "More important than the Gu family?"

Xie Rong nodded.

"What?" She blinked in confusion.

Xie Rong’s arms tightened slightly around her waist. "Furen."

Wang Gege immediately rolled her eyes. "Cheesy."

He immediately chuckled at her reaction.

"It’s just that I don’t think their meeting has anything to do with this husband, so I left. Besides, I don’t believe there is anything in that meeting that requires this husband’s presence."

Wang Gege’s eyes slowly dimmed. She stared at him silently for a moment, her expression carrying obvious suspicion.

Xie Rong raised a brow. "What?"

"Nothing." Wang Gege slowly shook her head.

Yet the look in her eyes clearly said otherwise.

Xie Rong narrowed his eyes slightly. "Furen does not believe this husband?"

Wang Gege continued staring at him. "I didn’t say anything."

"But Furen’s eyes said enough."

She finally looked away. "Then perhaps your eyes have learned how to read too much."

Xie Rong laughed softly and pulled her a little closer.

"You have grown quite brave these days, haven’t you? Always finding an excuse to touch me..." Wang Gege arched his brow, giving him a teasing warning.

Xie Rong’s smile deepened. "This husband just loves hugging Furen..."

He once again rested his head against Wang Gege’s shoulder.

"And I don’t want to waste any more time..."

Wang Gege’s expression slowly softened.

Her eyes lowered slightly as she understood what he meant.

After everything that had happened, everything they had lost and everything they could have lost again, perhaps Xie Rong simply did not want to hold himself back anymore.

She remained quiet for a moment before raising her hand and gently patting his arm.

"Then hug properly," she muttered. "You are leaning your entire weight on me."

Xie Rong immediately laughed softly as he pulled away, "This husband is not that heavy, am I?"

He scrunched his nose, but Wang Gege rolled her eyes.

"What’s the point of trying to act flirty if I can’t even see your eyes... And, husband, are you sure everyone in this residence still thinks your eyes are blind?"

Xie Rong paused.

Wang Gege looked up at him suspiciously. "You walk around with a blindfold outside, but somehow, you always know exactly where everything is."

"This husband is familiar with the residence." He shrugged his shoulders.

"You can even avoid people before they bump into you." Wang Gege crossed her arms.

"This husband can hear them." He crossed his arms too, trying to tease her.

"You know exactly where I am even when I haven’t said anything." She turned around him

Xie Rong’s lips curved, waiting for her to stop back in front of him, "This husband can smell Furen."

Wang Gege’s face immediately twisted. "What am I? Some kind of perfume?"

He chuckled. "Furen smells nice."

Wang Gege stared at him. "See? This is exactly what I mean. Are you sure no one has begun questioning you?"

Xie Rong lowered his head slightly until his forehead rested against hers. "Perhaps they have."

Wang Gege blinked. "What?"

His smile slowly deepened. "Perhaps they simply do not care enough to expose this husband."

Wang Gege narrowed her eyes. "Or perhaps they are all waiting for the day you accidentally reveal yourself."

Xie Rong smiled. "Then Furen should help this husband be more careful."

Leaning closer to her ear, he whispered, "Honestly, all my guards know about my eyes..."

"What?!" Wang Gege immediately pulled away. "So they knew? That was why!"

Her jaw dropped slightly as a thought suddenly crossed her mind. "No wonder!"

Xie Rong raised a brow. "What did Furen suddenly understand?"

Wang Gege slowly turned to stare at him. "Your guards never reacted whenever you did something suspicious!"

"This husband never did anything suspicious." Xie Rong chuckled again, clearly teasing her.

"Yeah, as if talking to me like you can see every reaction on my face isn’t suspicious enough..." Wang Gege narrowed her eyes.

Xie Rong tilted his head slightly. "This husband merely knows Furen well."

"You were literally looking straight at my face beneath that blindfold."

"Perhaps this husband was simply facing in the right direction."

Wang Gege stared at him. "What about Father and Grandmother? Do they know about your eyes?"

"Guess..." Xie Rong said with a smile.

But instead of an answer, he received a slap on his arm from Wang Gege.

"I am not in the mood to guess..."

The smile never faded from his lips as he explained, "When this husband was brought back, do you think I had the blindfold on?"

Wang Gege blinked before letting out a sigh. "Husband... I said... I don’t want to guess..."

Xie Rong bobbed his head. "All right... all right... they knew."

"When this husband opened my eyes, they had already seen the blue eye. Father was the one who suggested the blindfold afterward. He did not want to frighten the people around us or give them a reason to start spreading unnecessary rumours."

Wang Gege nodded in understanding. "That’s good. No wonder no one seemed to question anything about you..."

Xie Rong nodded as well before leaning closer and gently pinching her nose. "Only them, though... not everyone..."

Wang Gege scrunched her face and swatted his hand away. "Hey!"

Xie Rong only smiled as his hand returned to her waist. "Furen questions everything."

"Because someone keeps giving me reasons to." She smirked.

A quiet laugh escaped Xie Rong. "Furen is so adorable..."

Before Wang Gege could reply back, a voice came from the entrance of the courtyard..

"Ahem."

Both of them froze.

Wang Gege immediately turned her head.

Gu Ruyan stood several steps away, looking at them with an obviously annoyed expression.

"Am I disturbing both of you?"
