Chapter 185: Unused Rewards
A week had passed since the incident involving Xie An’an. After days of tension and unrest, the Xie Residence had finally found its peace once more.
Xie An’an remained unconscious.
Her condition, however, had gradually stabilised. The physician continued to visit her every day, changing the medicine and checking her wound, yet there had been no sign of her waking.
"Young Madam."
Wang Gege looked up from where she was seated.
Qing’er stood near the entrance with a tray of tea in her hands. After placing it down, she slowly lowered her head.
"This servant has just received word from the courtyard. Young Miss is still unconscious."
Wang Gege’s expression remained unchanged. "The physician said anything?"
Qing’er shook her head. "He said her wound is healing well, and her life is no longer in danger. As for when Young Miss will wake up..." She hesitated slightly. "He could not say."
Wang Gege lowered her gaze. "I see."
Qing’er glanced at her carefully. "Young Madam, should we continue sending someone to check on her?"
Wang Gege did not answer immediately.
After everything that had happened, Xie An’an’s unconsciousness did not bring her any relief. If anything, the uncertainty made the situation even more troublesome.
She was still alive. But until she opened her eyes, no one knew whether the Xie An’an who woke up would be the same person who had tried to take her own life a week ago.
"Continue watching her," Wang Gege finally said. "The moment she wakes up, report it immediately."
Qing’er lowered her head. "Yes, Young Madam."
With that, she quietly withdrew from the room.
Wang Gege remained seated for a while longer before finally reaching for the cup of tea in front of her. She lowered her gaze and took a slow sip, allowing the warmth to settle in her stomach.
She then leaned back slightly and let out a long breath.
At least for the past week, nothing else had happened.
’Finally... some peace.’
"I should ask husband to go to the market with me tomorrow, would like to buy a lot of things..." she mumbled to herself.
Just as she was about to take another sip, hurried footsteps suddenly approached from outside.
"Young Madam!"
Wang Gege paused with the teacup still in her hand.
Another servant hurried into the room before immediately bowing.
"What happened?" Wang Gege asked.
"Young Miss Gu has arrived at the residence." The servant reported.
Wang Gege blinked. "Gu...?"
"Young Miss Gu," the servant repeated. "She has come with her father, Master Gu."
Wang Gege slowly lowered her teacup. For a moment, she simply stared at the servant. Then, she let out another breath.
’Apparently, peace was too much to ask for.’
Still, she slowly nodded. "Did the Master ask for me?"
The servant immediately shook his head. "No, Young Madam. Young Master was the one who instructed this servant to inform you of their arrival."
Wang Gege nodded in understanding. Xie Rong was probably worried that she might misunderstand.
Since Master Xie had not summoned her, there was no reason for her to suddenly appear in the main hall.
"I understand. You may go."
"Yes, Young Madam."
After the servant withdrew, Wang Gege remained seated for a moment before suddenly blinking.
Her gaze slowly shifted toward the empty space in front of her.
’Wait...’
She had almost forgotten about it. Her two rewards. The ones she had yet to use.
Wang Gege’s expression brightened slightly as she closed her eyes.
’Mini?’
No response.
She opened one eye, checking in case Mini had appeared in its bee form, but Mini was nowhere to be found.
Wang Gege tilted her head in confusion. "The system upgraded again?"
But just last night, Mini appeared perfectly fine.
Wang Gege leaned back in her chair and let out a sigh.
"Mini..."
"What?"
Wang Gege immediately sat upright.
A small yellow bee slowly appeared before her, hovering in the air with an expression that looked strangely annoyed.
"You were ignoring me!"
"Mini was not." Mini pouted.
Wang Gege narrowed her eyes. "What... Did I do something wrong?"
Mini remained silent for a moment before answering, "Mini just thinking..."
"Thinking?"
"Hmm..." Mini’s wings slowly dropped. "Mini is thinking... What is the use of Mini if Host doesn’t want to go back to Host’s world? And will Host stop doing all the missions?"
Wang Gege’s expression slowly changed. She had not expected that question.
Mini lowered its little head.
"Mini was sent to help Host return home. But now..." Its tiny wings drooped even further. "Host wants to stay here."
Wang Gege remained silent.
"If Host doesn’t want to go back, then Mini’s job is already finished, right?"
Her eyes softened. "Mini..."
"And if Host stops doing missions..." Mini continued quietly, "then Host will not need Mini anymore."
Wang Gege stared at the little bee for a moment before slowly reaching out her finger.
Mini looked up.
"Who told you I don’t need you?"
Mini blinked. "But..."
"Going home and needing you are two different things." Wang Gege gently poked its tiny round body. "Yes, I don’t know if I want to return to my old world anymore. But that doesn’t mean I suddenly want you to disappear from my life."
Mini remained completely still.
Wang Gege smiled faintly. "And who said I am going to stop doing missions?"
Mini’s eyes widened slightly. "Host... will continue?"
Wang Gege thought about it. "Well, I might complain a little."
Mini immediately pouted.
"And I might refuse the stupid ones."
The pout deepened.
Wang Gege laughed. "But if there are missions that can help people around me or make this world better, why wouldn’t I do them?"
Mini stared at her. "Really?"
"Really." She nodded.
Mini’s wings slowly lifted again.
Wang Gege smiled before gently poking it once more.
"Besides, I still haven’t decided whether I will never go back. Right now, I only know that I don’t want to leave this place." Her smile softened. "At least not yet."
Mini remained silent for a moment. Then, its wings suddenly fluttered again. "Then Mini still useful?"
Wang Gege raised a brow. "Very."
Mini immediately straightened up. "Good!"
Wang Gege laughed.
Then Mini suddenly paused.
"Host still has two rewards."
Wang Gege blinked.
"Oh, right." She immediately sat upright. "Tell me about my rewards."
Mini’s expression immediately turned serious.
A familiar blue screen slowly appeared before Wang Gege.
[UNUSED REWARDS: 2]
Wang Gege’s eyes brightened.
The screen flickered once before the first reward appeared.
[REWARD ONE: HEAVENLY RESTORATION PILL]
[Description: A single-use medicine capable of restoring the body from severe injuries or illnesses beyond the capabilities of ordinary medicine. The pill may be used on any living person but cannot bring the dead back to life.]
Wang Gege slowly raised her brows, "That sounds expensive."
Mini nodded seriously, "Very expensive."
The blue screen changed again.
[REWARD TWO: ONE QUESTION TO THE WORLD]
Wang Gege’s expression immediately changed. She slowly leaned forward.
[Description: The Host may ask one question and receive the absolute truth. The question may concern the past, the present, hidden matters, or an event beyond the Host’s knowledge.]
Wang Gege stared at the screen. For a moment, she said nothing.
Mini slowly turned toward her. "Host can only use it once."
Wang Gege leaned back in her chair.
"One question..." Mini finished its words.
Her gaze gradually deepened as countless questions began surfacing in her mind.
’Then I definitely cannot waste it.’
The blue screen remained suspended in the air between them.
And for the first time since receiving the rewards, Wang Gege finally began to seriously consider just how valuable they truly were.
