Chapter 854: Resolving Past Grievances
Shana was still sobbing, inconsolable.
"Amu, Amu did it all for me, I dragged him down, sob, sob... He could have escaped but, but..."
She cried uncontrollably.
President Shi Mai’er gently patted her back and comforted her:
"Daughter, you must be strong. If you just give up like this, wouldn’t Amu’s efforts be in vain? And, think about your mother, she surely wouldn’t want to see you in such pain and sorrow."
Shana cried for a long, long time, and finally listened to reason, agreeing to go to the hospital.
For everyone in the President’s Mansion, it was undoubtedly a terrible blow.
After a day and night, Shana’s expression looked much better.
Song Yinyin stayed by her side the whole time, never leaving, even feeding her when she was thirsty or hungry.
However, Shana was not very willing to eat.
Song Yinyin was very patient, not fussing or shouting, giving her as much food as Shana was willing to eat, accompanying her quietly.
Shana couldn’t hold it anymore, frowned, and said, "Are you afraid I’ll do something impulsive, to be buried with my mom and Amu?"
"If you want President Shi Mai’er to lose another loved one, then go ahead."
Shana pouted, and after a while, managed to say: "You’re so annoying."
"You’re really difficult," Song Yinyin replied candidly.
"..."
Shana glared angrily at Song Yinyin, and Song Yinyin glared back, occasionally raising her eyebrow in a seemingly deliberate provocation.
Shana and Song Yinyin couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
The previous estrangement seemed to dissolve in that instant.
"If we keep glaring like this, we’ll both turn into goldfish," Shana couldn’t help but quip.
Seeing her able to joke, Song Yinyin breathed a sigh of relief.
It seems Shana finally crossed that hurdle.
As they were talking, President Shi Mai’er’s relieved voice came from outside: "Looks like, Shana, you’ve recovered, haven’t you?"
Shana turned to look at President Shi Mai’er, her complexion visibly better than before: "Dad, I’m sorry for worrying you."
She extended her arms, tightly wrapping them around her father’s waist, burying her face in his arm like a child.
"Dad, from now on... it’ll just be the two of us relying on each other."
"Silly daughter, don’t we still have good friends like Mr. and Mrs. Lu? Trust me, things will get better, they will!"
"Yeah."
Shana sniffled, the tears on her face continued to flow.
Seeing this, Song Yinyin couldn’t help but be moved.
"Your Excellency, Miss Shana, we have a saying in Country Z, ’great difficulties will bring future blessings,’ I believe after this ordeal, the rest of your lives will be happy."
President Shi Mai’er nodded slightly, lifting his gaze gratefully towards Song Yinyin.
For the past two days, a certain confusion had lingered in his heart, prompting him several times to want to unravel it.
However, he was afraid his suspicions were wrong.
Now, he couldn’t hold it in and said, "Yinyin, could you come with me for a moment? I have some things I want to say to you."
"Sure."
Song Yinyin nodded.
She went to President Shi Mai’er’s room.
President Shi Mai’er sat in a wheelchair, facing the window, lost in thought.
Song Yinyin cleared her throat lightly, walked in, and asked: "Your Excellency, what do you want to tell me?"
"Oh, it’s like this, I had this sweater cleaned, take a look if there’s any damage."
