Sword of the Philosopher

Angels and Demons

Walking through a much majestic temple, a place is transformed into magic on the border. Until now, even high concentrations of magic were clustered together, but here suddenly those signs disappeared.

Sounds like you're magically protecting the space itself... at the far back there was a bookshelf in the form of being embedded in the wall.

"Personally, it's the number of materials that don't match the size of the building."

Jin says. The shelves are quite wide and tall, and the materials are packed there. It just seems a lot less because of the size of the temple, as Jin says.

"It is my guess that the materials are not all of the same, and that there were other facilities besides this temple and people came and went so far... so the first thing that matters is when the materials in this temple were from."

"It's about the Angels and the Demons, so I guess it's too long ago for us to imagine."

The game... there must have been only back-setting material, but certainly ancient times... there are times when angels and demons contend, and from there there there are times when angels flourished, followed by times when demon kings move vigorously. That's when Sage appeared as a keyword in the game.

"Yeah, the material here describes the time when angels and demons were born. It's an ancient story of a distant past."

… In my previous life, various civilizations flourished around the world at a stage called antiquity. Some of them were auto-particular objects, such as how they were built with technology at the time… some of them were linked to aliens from there or something, but I don't know the details because I wasn't really interested.

So, there was also a time in this world called antiquity, which seemed to build a different civilization from modern times.

"What I can read from the material is that the world was more full of magic than it is now… I mean, I told you earlier, it was an environment where phantom beasts were born"

"In that, were angels and demons born?

"Well yes...... let's follow the order and explain. At that time, man was forming a majority nation, and among them, there was a great power at war between continents."

"Don't do a lot of flashy things again... can war separated from the sea in the first place?

"There was a lot of magic in the atmosphere at the time, so it looks like we could have transported soldiers and supplies by magic."

Yeah, that's funny. You have that advantage when you have a lot of magic... if you're interested but you're using the magic in the air, isn't it just realistic to use it now?

"The magic technology of ancient civilization was what relied on the magic of the outside world. Looks like it formed a different culture than it is now."

"Is such technology not inherited because of the loss of culture as a result of the country's demise, or because of the depletion of magic?

"I'll explain there later...... so that war seems to have been pretty lame. Some of the materials describe the course of the war, but it seemed terrible."

"... Um, I have a question"

Sophia raises her hand here.

"What is the reason for the war? Is that why the countries on both sides try to gain world hegemony......?

"Because we had territorial ambitions, it's normal to think, but apparently that's not the main cause... No, taking the territory just turned out to be that way, aiming at what exists in both sides of the territory"

"What the hell is that...?

"It's what the material calls a 'fantasy tree'. The illustration is painted, you see?

Give the materials. When I saw it in my hand, there was a giant tree painted there.

"They were giant trees supposedly rushing through heaven. I was after this because this tree itself generates a lot of magic, so let's see."

"Magic...? Maybe the magic concentration was high at the time."

"I don't see how huge a tree would fill the world with magic... but whatever, 'fantasy trees' are special to ancient civilizations and must be... that's enough to be a reason to wage war"

"If the fact is that it releases magic, then maybe that 'fantasy tree' was the starting point of civilization."

"It's enough to be a reason for war, so I guess that's what it is"

When Jin agreed with these words, he put them back on the shelf when I took the material I gripped and took another.

"Let's continue… The war was devastating on a massive scale and because of its widespread occurrence, both sides were exhausted. But I fought over and over again so that there was constant strife at all times… I never talked about having concluded a pact of harmony, and as a result both countries continued to fight until their own people were destitute"

"How did you get so far..."

"I don't know... and both countries decided that the battle had subsided naturally... but that was only superficial. In fact, we have begun to develop ferocious weapons."

The Cold War, is that it?

"In doing so, both sides had come up with new weapons candidates… Spirits and the like had already existed since that time, but they had come to the conclusion that the reason they occurred was because of the link between the human soul and the magic that naturally existed"

"With the human soul...?

I mean, human magic.

"Can I say that soul is the magic that occurs when a person dies? By linking them to dark magic, they became spirits… now that the environment is different, it seems that certain magic can only be born that way in places where it is dark. Anyway, because of that phenomenon, I wondered if I could use my soul to make people stronger."

"A biological weapon."

I just groaned bitterly, Jin nodded,

- Our clan was born after that kind of research.

I said something amazing...... and at the same time I understood exactly what Jin wanted to talk about next.

"I mean, at the end of those studies..."

"That's right. It was the devil tribe that was born by doing a strong link with the power of the earth. And linked to the magic of the sky are angels… they are an artificial species, born after research in ancient civilization"

Ridiculous story, I think... I see, I can somehow understand keeping it secret.

However, why did you try to leave this information for future generations? Jin goes on and on while he plunders such questions in his head.

"This is the origin of the Angels and Demons... Now it seems that both the Angels and the Demons have forgotten that, and yet they don't know how they were born... let's explain what changes were made in the war due to their birth -"
