Chapter 136 - 57: Jiang Li Is Pregnant, Booking a First-Class Flight Home

There had been some light bleeding before, so she’d just assumed her period was starting.

Thinking back, it must have been implantation bleeding.

Besides, she had been drinking and taking medication recently. She wouldn’t have any peace of mind without a proper check-up.

The two returned to the consultation desk, checked in with their ticket, and were given a series of orders for tests.

They drew several vials of blood and ran a number of other tests.

"Looking at the reports, there are no other issues aside from some slight malnutrition."

Jiang Li and Shen Yanzhi finally let out a sigh of relief. "Is there anything we should be mindful of in our daily life?"

As first-time parents, they were clueless and could only rely on the doctor for guidance.

The doctor replied while typing on his computer, "Try to avoid stress. Eat whatever you crave, but all in moderation. Come for your prenatal check-ups on schedule, and we’ll set up your file at twelve weeks."

Shen Yanzhi stopped typing on his phone and looked up, baffled. "That’s it?"

"That’s it."

With a WHIRR, the printer spit out a form, which the doctor picked up. "I’ve prescribed some nutritional supplements. The nurse at the pharmacy will tell you how to take them."

Jiang Li took the prescription, nodding with a smile. "Okay, thank you, Doctor." She then pulled Shen Yanzhi by the hand and led him out of the office.

Shen Yanzhi pursed his lips. "Why the rush? I still had so many questions to ask him!"

Jiang Li asked, amused, "Have you forgotten we have two mothers at home who’ve already had children?"

"Since the baby is fine, we can ask our mothers any questions we have. There’s no need to take up more of the doctor’s time."

Shen Yanzhi realized she was right. He had been so focused on asking the doctor that he’d completely forgotten he could ask his family.

He glanced at Jiang Li’s abdomen. "But if we ask them, they’ll know you’re pregnant. They’ll probably tell us to come back to the country right away."

Jiang Li shrugged nonchalantly. "We’ve had most of our fun here anyway. Besides, the wedding is just a few days away, so it’s about time we headed back."

In truth, they had already planned to head back in the next couple of days. Leaving a day or two earlier didn’t make much of a difference.

Shen Yanzhi nodded, sharing his own thought. "Okay, I’ll book tickets for tomorrow morning. We can ask them about pregnancy matters once we’re back."

"Sounds good."

They paid the bill, waited in line for the medicine, and by the time they had dinner and got back to the hotel, it was nearly eight in the evening.

"You go wash up first. I’ll take care of the packing."

Jiang Li didn’t argue. "Okay."

She was already tired from running around the hospital all day, and now that she was pregnant, she really did need to get some rest.

While Jiang Li was in the bathroom showering, Shen Yanzhi started booking the tickets.

He booked first-class tickets to ensure Jiang Li would be comfortable.

He also contacted Xie Wan and asked her to hire a few more chefs to prepare a wide variety of dishes for Jiang Li.

He had heard from Shen Yugang that when Jiang Manshu was pregnant with him, she suffered from constant morning sickness, and her cravings changed daily. She had a truly terrible time.

Since Jiang Li was willing to have his child, he was determined to ensure she had nothing to worry about.

It was his duty as her husband.

Jiang Li had thought she’d be too keyed up to sleep, but she ended up sleeping soundly until Shen Yanzhi woke her.

She rubbed her drowsy eyes. "What time is it?"

"A little after six."

"The flight is a little after eight. If you get up and wash up now, we’ll have just enough time for breakfast before heading to the airport."

Jiang Li yawned. "Do we have to rush so much?"

Shen Yanzhi looked at Jiang Li with a pang of sympathy. "I know you’re not fully rested. You can get some proper sleep on the plane. I’m sorry to put you through this."

Jiang Li had still been groggy, but his words instantly jolted her awake. She waved her hands dismissively. "It’s not that serious, really."

Getting out of bed, she asked casually, "Did you finish packing?"

"Everything’s packed. I left out a change of clothes for you."

He then picked up a neatly folded set of clothes from the nightstand and handed them to her.

Jiang Li took them. "I’ll go get ready then."

After getting ready and having breakfast, the two of them headed straight for the airport.

Just as Shen Yanzhi had planned, it was nearly time for boarding when they arrived at the airport.

Jiang Li didn’t notice at first, but when she saw them heading down the VIP lane, she asked suspiciously, "You bought first-class tickets?"

Shen Yanzhi smiled. "It’s a long flight. I just figured you’d be more comfortable in first class."

Even with so much money in her account, Jiang Li had never considered flying first class. To her, the seats all felt more or less the same, so there was no point in spending the extra money.
