Chapter 117 Lucas’s Conquest
During the time The Great Purge lasted.
Billions of Viltrumites, from the initial melee across the entire planet, to being slaughtered in droves, until only scattered strong ones remained, still slaughtering each other in a sea of blood and corpses.
Time lost its measure in this sea of blood.
And the battle between Lucas and Conquest had never stopped since the beginning.
When tired, they would lie on the spot to rest, like a mountain beast rampaging through the mountains; no animal dared to approach.
When awake, they would continue to fight.
Lucas had forgotten the passage of time; the battle factors within his body were being activated bit by bit.
His whole person looked exceptionally ferocious.
They trampled the continental plates into vast ruins, causing rivers to backflow into deep pits; even the parts of the surface that remained intact were crisscrossed with cracks, from which large amounts of magma seeped out.
During this time, Thragg even ordered the two of them to get out to outer space to fight.
And so, as they fought, they reached the high altitude.
Conquest punched Lucas into the clouds. Lucas steadied himself in mid-air, then counter-attacked like a beam of light. The two collided again several thousand meters in the air, the shockwave exploding and tearing a huge hole in the clouds below.
Then they fought their way out of the atmosphere.
In space, they used their collisions with each other to change direction again and again.
Lucas grabbed Conquest’s ankle and flung him fiercely toward a wandering asteroid. As Conquest smashed through the asteroid, he used the reaction force to turn back and pounce, punching Lucas in the chest and sending him tumbling far away into the void.
No air, no sound.
Only two figures, colliding again and again in the dead silent space.
Each collision would stir up ripples that distorted the void.
Such a battle lasted for years.
Lucas was beaten, covered in wounds, by Conquest more than once.
Bones broken, flesh mangled.
But every time, those wounds would heal at an unreasonable speed.
Every time Conquest was injured, his strength would increase; Viltrumites never stop the pace of growth.
The same goes for when they are old.
Lucas’s growth rate was also very fast; the only thing he lacked was combat experience.
This battle was actually not fair.
Conquest could never kill Lucas.
There was a gap between the two, but it wasn’t outrageous; Conquest could injure Lucas, but that was all.
But strangely, from beginning to end, Conquest never had a single complaint.
He didn’t care that Lucas had Super Speed Healing.
"Strong is strong, weak is weak!"
Once, when they were on the surface of an abandoned planet, exhausted from fighting, lying side-by-side in a crater panting, Lucas asked a question.
Conquest’s line of thinking was simple and crude, "Only the weak make excuses; the strong only fight. Don’t make excuses!"
"If I were truly powerful, I would eventually train until I could punch you into interstellar dust. Would your healing speed keep up then?" The old soldier grinned.
"That would indeed be too late!" Lucas answered very bluntly.
"This is what a battle is. You are strong. You should choose a strong woman, conquer her, and bear your own offspring!" Conquest said.
The "conquer" Conquest was talking about was not at all the same thing.
The reproduction among Viltrumites, as can be seen from Anissa and Mark, doesn’t care about love or romance at all.
If you fancy a man or a woman, you go up, beat them into submission, and then request reproduction rights.
The other party will most likely agree.
If they don’t agree, then use force, just like Anissa did to Mark.
I’m stronger than you, why do I need your consent?
Lucas just wanted to say, that’s rape! Do you know it’s illegal?
I’m still a young boy!!
"Are you done resting? Get up and keep fighting!"
Conquest stopped the small talk.
Being able to say so much to Lucas was already the ultimate recognition from the old soldier.
Conquest, a warrior pure to the extreme.
His whole life could be summed up in three words!
Fight, satisfying!!!
Whatever schemes, tricks, or underhanded tactics, I don’t care. I only have two words (in English, it’s actually one), and that is: FIGHT!!
The strong should go and conquer those who are even stronger!!
And not swing their blades at the weak!!!
In this battle, Lucas’s strength underwent a transformation. From frequently getting injured and having raw combat experience, he eventually reached the point where he could trade blows evenly with Conquest, and even steadily suppress him.
This was all thanks to Lucas’s Viltrumite genes; he etched the veteran fighter’s thousands of years of combat experience into his genetic instincts, bit by bit.
Saiyan, kid!!
His bloodline, in this endless, extreme battle, was repeatedly pushed to the edge of death, then fixed again and again in a stronger, more resilient state.
Until one day...
Lucas punched Conquest in the chest, smashing the burly man squarely into the deep crust of another planet.
At that moment, he clearly felt...
His own strength had finally crossed that threshold!
Planetary level!
He had caught up to Conquest, and surpassed him.
Lucas could already kill Conquest, but he never chose to kill; instead, he would beat Conquest until he was completely drained and let him heal himself.
He still needed this whetstone.
Conquest had no complaints about this.
Lucas not killing him felt like an insult, but when he discovered that Lucas enjoyed the battle even more than he did, Conquest’s brain wrinkles smoothed out instantly.
Over time.
These two opponents, who should have been killing each other in The Great Purge, gradually developed a mutual appreciation. In Conquest’s long life, this kind of encounter was a first.
...
Now, Lucas’s reputation thoroughly resounded throughout the Viltrumite Empire.
Even Thragg could not ignore his existence.
Decades passed in a flash. Lucas stood proudly at the top of many Viltrumites. He became an existence at the top of the food chain, and his legend was passed on by word of mouth among the remaining Viltrumites.
As The Great Purge reached its later stages, what truly won Lucas the title of "Great" was not his slaughter.
Quite the contrary.
It was his mercy!
In the later stages, Lucas no longer slaughtered Viltrumites; instead, when he beat every challenger until they were unable to resist, he would not deliver the fatal blow, but let them recover.
Even several times, he used Super-speed Healing to pull those Viltrumites who were on the verge of death back from the brink, which was an unbelievable thing within the social-Darwinist Viltrum.
The great Lucas actually submitted to weakness?
Soon, someone questioned him.
"Why did you save them?" A blood-soaked Viltrumite, watching Lucas heal his defeated opponent, looked full of confusion, even with a trace of disdain, "They have already lost, they should die in humiliation. Weakness must be eradicated!"
"A true strong person wouldn’t have such ridiculous mercy!"
Lucas slowly turned his head.
"Kill me!"
The Viltrumite was stunned.
"You kill me! Only then will you have the qualifications to define what is called weakness."
"Before that, you are all trash!"
Lucas’s gaze was calm as he swept across all the Viltrumites present.
This was no less than flipping the table, calling everyone present sissies or gay!!
But for some reason, no one dared to stand up and retort.
Dead silence.
Those Viltrumites he saved soon chose to continue challenging Lucas, and were beaten down again.
Lucas still chose to heal them.
Over time, he had a group of firm supporters behind him.
