Chapter 145 Cersei is dead
King Robert Baratheon slammed his bed frame with a sudden force, roaring, "Where is Ned! Go, go and chop that bitch down for me!"
King Robert Baratheon was furious.
Yet Lucas stood to the side, merely watching with cold indifference.
King Robert Baratheon’s anger was only superficial, and he quickly suppressed his rage.
This matter was not suitable for a grand display of force; Tywin, the Warden of the West, sat upon gold mines, had close ties with high-ranking officials in the court, and possessed a fearsome reputation. If he really chopped Cersei Lannister down, he feared the entire kingdom would be plunged into war.
Not to mention the waste of manpower and money, it would inevitably shake the foundations of his rule.
King Robert Baratheon was wary of his father-in-law!
This wouldn’t do!
Lucas thought to himself, if you don’t start a war, what fun is there for me to watch after coming all this way?
Thus, he flashed forward, blocking King Robert Baratheon’s path.
"Don’t be in such a rush; I haven’t finished speaking yet."
Lucas continued to stack the buffs.
"If Cersei Lannister had only been unfaithful, things wouldn’t have reached this point. Guess who was the first to discover this secret and was killed to silence them!"
King Robert Baratheon was filled with shock; the only important figure who had died recently was his foster father, Jon Arryn.
"That’s right, it’s exactly as you think!"
Lucas snapped his fingers.
"As for the rest, you can investigate it yourself; this is dirty politics."
Lucas’s figure vanished on the spot.
King Robert Baratheon’s pupils constricted, but in an instant, he was filled with rage.
Jon Arryn was the foster father of King Robert Baratheon and Ned; back then, he had sheltered them under the Mad King’s rule, so King Robert Baratheon and Ned regarded him as their own father, granting him endless honors.
But what Lucas didn’t say was that even if the Hand of the King’s death was related to Cersei Lannister, the true mastermind was not Cersei Lannister, but Littlefinger, and the perpetrator was Catelyn’s sister, Lysa Tully.
"Bitch! How dare she... How could she do this!!!"
King Robert Baratheon let out a roar.
It was House Lannister.
From beginning to end, all the bad things were done by House Lannister!
King Robert Baratheon violently pulled open the tent flap and strode out of the camp.
Everyone outside the tent was stunned.
The King was clearly on his last breath, his time running out, and everyone thought he wouldn’t last the night.
Yet King Robert Baratheon had actually walked out with a ruddy complexion?
Queen Cersei Lannister couldn’t suppress the corners of her mouth from curling upward; she was waiting for that fat pig of a husband to take his last breath so that her son, Joffrey, could rightfully ascend the Iron Throne.
But seeing King Robert Baratheon walk out with a face full of rage, Cersei Lannister was completely bewildered.
Was she hallucinating?
How could this dying King suddenly stand up, full of life and vigor?
King Robert Baratheon scanned the crowd and casually summoned a Gold Cloak, "Go, call Ned back to me!"
Ned hurried over, and upon seeing his old friend actually standing up, he was completely dumbfounded.
"King Robert Baratheon, you..."
"No need to be so surprised." King Robert Baratheon laughed heartily, though his laughter hid murderous intent, "The Seven above! They would never let a brave king die a cowardly death on a sickbed!"
"Ned, my old friend!" He patted Ned’s shoulder heavily, "Prepare for a war!"
Having said that, King Robert Baratheon suddenly drew the longsword from a guard’s waist, took a rapid step, and charged toward Cersei Lannister, knocking this high-and-mighty Queen to the ground.
It was no different from knocking over a sow.
His cold blade pressed against Cersei Lannister’s neck.
"Tell me!"
King Robert Baratheon looked down from above, his eyes filled with a predatory, man-eating ferocity, "Joffrey... whose seed is he really?"
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone around was stunned.
The King was questioning the Queen on the spot: whose seed was his own eldest son?
Oh no!
This was aimed at them!!
Ned was even more shocked; his face, usually as stubborn as stone, opened its mouth in an unprecedented display of surprise, unable to close it.
What had happened?
Compared to Ned, it was Cersei Lannister who was even more terrified; the blood drained completely from her beautiful face.
Impossible!
How did King Robert Baratheon know?
This was her deepest secret; that’s right, the three sons she had were not born of King Robert Baratheon, but were fathered by her own brother, Jaime, and not a single one was King Robert Baratheon’s seed.
King Robert Baratheon only deserved to die on a whore.
The reaction she displayed in that instant had already told King Robert Baratheon the entire answer.
"Hahaha..." King Robert Baratheon laughed miserably, "You venomous woman... you damn stinking bitch, you shameless beast! A slut like you..."
"How does a slut like you deserve to give birth to a daughter as well-behaved as Myrcella!"
"Damn bitch!"
King Robert Baratheon did not hesitate any longer, thrusting his longsword forward and piercing through Cersei Lannister’s chest.
This Queen, who had shone so brightly on the stage of Game of Thrones, was now taken out so hastily.
She looked at the longsword in her chest in disbelief and slowly collapsed.
Ned was even more confused!
He was still struggling between the two facts—King Robert Baratheon’s resurrection and Joffrey not being his biological son—when King Robert Baratheon had already killed Cersei Lannister.
The sky had fallen!
Within the crowd, Jaime Lannister had arrived later; as soon as he reached the scene, he happened to see King Robert Baratheon killing his own sister, and in a second, he went berserk, drawing his sword and charging crazily toward King Robert Baratheon.
"Cersei Lannister!!!"
"Protect the King! Everyone, protect me! Take down this traitor!" King Robert Baratheon roared.
Ned reacted, immediately drawing his longsword to meet the enraged Kingslayer.
The surrounding Gold Cloaks were also thrown into chaos.
Jaime was truly a renowned swordsman in the Seven Kingdoms; he defeated several guards who rushed at him, charging all the way through, and arrived in front of King Robert Baratheon in an instant.
But with Ned and King Robert Baratheon attacking him together, he was ultimately unable to hold his own.
King Robert Baratheon was panting heavily, yet he fought with increasing vigor; he could miss a hundred times, but with Ned maneuvering on the side, if King Robert Baratheon managed to stab him once, Jaime would have to drink the bitter cup of death on the spot.
The two of them only needed a few dozen rounds to sever Jaime’s wrist.
"Ah!"
Jaime let out a miserable scream, and his longsword fell to the ground.
King Robert Baratheon did not deliver the killing blow.
"Lock this Kingslayer up for me!" He panted heavily, ordering, "Transmit my decree, command the Warden of the West, Tywin, to come to King’s Landing immediately to discuss matters; I intend to appoint him as the Prime Minister, the Hand of the King!"
Immediately after, King Robert Baratheon turned his head to look at Ned, his expression solemn as never before.
"My friend!"
He said in a deep voice, "Prepare for a war! A King’s dignity cannot be lightly insulted."
"I have the will of the gods!"
"This war will be won!"
Having said this, King Robert Baratheon scanned the surroundings.
Among these people, many were spies for House Lannister, and his gaze finally fell upon Ned.
The moment their eyes met, Ned already understood.
House Lannister’s people—leave none alive, bury them all on the spot!
Ned gave the order on the spot to seal off the scene, not allowing anyone to enter or leave.
By this point, everything had happened too quickly; there was no room left for compromise!
Even Ned didn’t know how to advise King Robert Baratheon.
The Hound, Clegane, licked his lips, and Ned said, "Where is the Mountain?"
Clegane replied in a muffled voice, "Not sure!"
"You should be sure; take men and kill him. I will handle those House Lannister people!"
Ned stared at him.
...
Lucas stood high in the sky with his arms crossed; no one could see him.
Yet he took in everything that happened on the scene.
"A bit interesting. King Robert Baratheon being able to become king really isn’t just because he’s a useless drunkard!"
