The sun in the Middle East was scorching.

At high noon, the surface temperature could exceed fifty degrees Celsius.

For ordinary people, it was practically hell, but for a Supe, it was just enough to make them break a slight sweat.

Lucas used his X-ray vision to scan the desert ahead.

Beneath the surface, at a depth of about 150 meters, there was a massive man-made structure.

Looking even deeper, there were tunnels, rooms, and warehouses...

It was like a city buried in the sand.

At this depth, one would probably need a bunker-busting nuke to bring peace to the other side.

But the price of one bunker-busting nuke was enough to hire Lucas ten times.

That’s just how high my cost-effectiveness is.

Lucas crossed his arms and said to his two little assistants.

"The target is 150 meters underground, surrounded by a large number of armed personnel, and at least three Supe guards."

"Now, you two go take out the terrorist Farid."

"I’ll wait outside for your signal."

It was just a Farid, after all. Let the ones on an eight-thousand monthly salary handle it; why did he need to intervene?

"Huh? Us... us?"

"Kill the terrorist Farid?"

Cate Dunlap and Jordan were bewildered.

This was no less difficult than asking them to take out Homelander.

"That’s right."

"Will we die?"

"Believe in your Power! There won’t be any problems!"

Lucas had absolute confidence in the two of them.

Of course, it wasn’t because he wanted to be lazy.

Lucas lay down on a rock, ignoring the scorching sun, and covered his head with his cape.

Snoring...

"He... he fell asleep..."

Jordan regretted taking the job.

This was definitely going to be a disaster!

Cate Dunlap shrugged; it wasn’t impossible. If it could use Mind Control on one of the Supes...

So, the two of them bit the bullet and went in.

Soon, a helicopter flew over in the sky.

A Vought International reporter was wearing a safety harness and parachute, with half its body hanging outside, held only by a tether.

The cameraman was in the same gear, holding a camera and starting the broadcast.

"...We are here in the... Iraq border desert of the Middle East, reporting on the local situation in real-time..."

"...As everyone can see, the surface here is entirely composed of desert, and the terrorist Farid, whom Guardian is targeting this time..."

"...Ahem, brief introduction concluded... Next, let’s see how Guardian engages with Farid..."

The reporter signaled the cameraman to capture the footage.

Because the helicopter was close enough, the cameraman easily captured a stable shot.

On a patch of sand and rock, Lucas was wearing Guardian’s black battle suit, with the V symbol on his chest.

He wasn’t posing; his entire face was covered by his cape.

"Here it is! Is this Guardian’s secret ultimate move?"

"Could he be accumulating immense power, preparing to deliver a powerful blow to Farid at the critical moment?"

"Let’s wait and see..."

Top floor of Vought International.

Edgar watched the live broadcast, his mouth twitching uncontrollably.

Standing next to him were Madelyn, Homelander, and Starlight.

"Does Guardian have such a move? Why does it look like he’s sleeping to me?"

Homelander rubbed his chin, carefully observing the details.

Lucas was always mysterious; there must be some clever trick hidden in this.

Listening to Homelander, Starlight couldn’t help but cover her forehead.

Time ticked by second by second.

Guardian didn’t move at all.

Only his cape was blown by the wind in the desert.

Meanwhile.

The first level of the underground shelter.

Jordan subdued the two sentries at the entrance, and Cate Dunlap immediately used her Mind Control ability to extract the layout information of the first three levels of the shelter from their minds.

Then, she controlled them to go back and take out their companions.

A few minutes later, six militants lay on the ground.

Jordan didn’t know how to hold back; those hit by it were either severely injured or dead.

Cate Dunlap only needed to tap them lightly from behind, and the sentries would automatically collapse.

They wouldn’t be waking up for at least an hour.

The two’s combat philosophies could be said to be completely different.

"Jordan, don’t you think it’s too quiet?" Cate Dunlap suddenly lowered her voice.

"Yeah, seems like it."

Jordan switched to a female form, gathering energy light orbs in its hands.

They were now on the third level of the shelter, in a long, narrow tunnel with rough rock walls on both sides.

Above them were exposed cables and ventilation ducts.

The corridor was dimly lit, with a dull yellow light every ten meters.

"Intelligence indicated there were three more Supe guards, but we haven’t encountered a single one," Cate Dunlap said.

"Maybe they’re deeper down," Jordan said.

"Or perhaps..."

Cate Dunlap didn’t finish her sentence.

Footsteps came from around the corner of the tunnel ahead.

Three figures walked out from around the corner.

One was bald, over two meters tall, with bluish-gray skin and knotted muscles, looking even more intense than if it were on steroids.

The tall one was wearing a tattered military uniform, its ten fingers exceptionally flexible, vibrating at an extremely high frequency—even a widow would shed tears of happiness seeing that.

The other one’s body was vibrating like a small electric motor.

What talents!

The bald giant started with some Arabic, chattering on for a long time.

Cate Dunlap and Jordan were completely bewildered.

They hadn’t taken Arabic as an elective.

The other side didn’t care if they could understand or not and attacked directly.

The short one vanished instantly.

Jordan switched to a male state, crossing its arms to protect its head.

But it was still a beat too slow and was punched in the abdomen.

The speed-type Supe’s fist, carrying immense kinetic energy, sent the male-form Jordan flying, slamming it into the tunnel wall and creating a human-shaped indentation.

"Jordan!"

Cate Dunlap turned her head to look, but her peripheral vision caught a flash of red light.

The tall one’s fingers lit up, and it fired a jet of flame toward Cate Dunlap.

Cate Dunlap instinctively threw herself to the ground.

The flame jet streaked over her head, burning the rock wall behind her into glowing red lava.

This temperature was terrifying!

Cate Dunlap lay on the ground, feeling the clothes on her back scorched by the heatwave.

"Fuck!"

Jordan pulled itself free from the wall, a trace of blood oozing from the corner of its mouth.

That punch, even with its Supe body, it barely managed to withstand.

Its internal organs were churning.

The speed-type Supe appeared again, this time targeting Cate Dunlap again.

But Jordan had anticipated this, grabbing Cate Dunlap’s arm, pulling her behind it, and throwing a punch at the same time.

The punch missed.

Ordinary ability users found it very hard to contend with speed-types.

Except for Barry Allen.

"I’ll find a way to grab one, you use Mind Control, and it’ll be three against two," Jordan said in a tone only the two of them could hear.

"Okay!" Cate Dunlap nodded.

Her ability was great for infiltration, but in a head-on fight, she was at a huge disadvantage.

Jordan switched to a male form and charged toward the speed-type. The opponent dodged to the left, right toward Cate Dunlap’s direction.

Cate Dunlap reached out to touch him, but the guy’s reaction was too fast, and in an instant, he had dodged three meters away.

"He’s too fast, I can’t touch him!" Cate Dunlap shouted.

"Again!"

Jordan continued to charge, but a giant palm grabbed the back of its neck, picking it up like a kitten.

There was more than one Supe here.

How could they possibly just watch the two of them pull their little tricks?
