Chapter 160 should be... a good person, right?
"Ugh! Fine, I think it’s best not to spoil anything else!"
Lucas noticed that both of them looked like their souls had left their bodies, so he decided to keep his mouth shut.
"Anyway, the point is the point. Let’s use ’Game of Thrones,’ which you are most familiar with, as an example. From our perspective, that Night’s Watchman who first encountered the White Walkers, fled back to the North, and was beheaded by Ned Stark—that was already a fixed ending."
"Suppose there was another ending, where the Night’s Watchman made an extra choice midway. He took a different path at some fork in the road, thus avoiding being caught by the Northerners, and wouldn’t have died under Ned Stark’s sword!"
"Everything stems from the character’s own spontaneous actions; that future can be changed."
"And we are characters outside the story. If we were to intervene in the main plot, for example, by saving Robb and Catelyn Stark at the Red Wedding, Bolton would never have been able to launch a sneak attack on Winterfell."
"But this action would have seriously disrupted the timeline. Therefore, the native world’s will would punish those who forcibly interfere, such as R’hllor, The Great Other, the Drowned God, the Stranger..."
Lucas used the simplest example to help Barry Allen and Cisco Ramon understand his back-and-forth behavior.
Barry Allen and Cisco Ramon suddenly understood.
But Caitlin Snow and Harrison Wells were very confused.
"So... to you, we are all characters inside the story? What kind of being are you? Are you perhaps a higher-dimensional entity?" Barry Allen asked in disbelief.
"Uh, I wouldn’t say that. In the world of superheroes, there are indeed many higher-dimensional beings, such as Darkseid and Manhattan... but I don’t belong to that group yet."
Lucas said, "In other words, like you, I am just an ordinary superhero, only my current abilities are stronger and far ahead of yours."
Barry Allen understood.
In that case, it was acceptable.
Otherwise, being watched by higher-dimensional beings was a very hard feeling to accept.
Imagine you are in bed practicing a certain manual craft, and beside the bed, there are constantly hundreds or thousands of higher-dimensional beings surrounding you, all watching at the same time...
Wouldn’t you immediately shrivel up, and your divine technique would be complete!
"Then... how long can you stay in this world?" Caitlin Snow asked the key question.
If she let the boys keep asking, who knows how long this conversation would go on.
"Half a year to a year," Lucas said.
"So... you’re going to rent a place and live in our world for that long?" Cisco Ramon crossed his arms, wondering what he was thinking.
"Renting a place isn’t necessary; I can just go to the moon and take a nap," Lucas said nonchalantly.
In the invincible universe.
Thragg let the other Viltrumites integrate into Earth and multiply, while he ran to the far side of the moon to count stars.
He could do the same.
"The moon? Fine, your power truly exceeds our understanding; it’s just like Superman from another world!" Barry Allen said.
Even if he could travel through the Speed Force, he couldn’t imagine a person sleeping on the far side of the moon; how powerful must one be to do that?
"You have Superman in your world?" Lucas turned his head 180 degrees. "That’s not right!"
"Uh! Yes, but on a parallel Earth. Strictly speaking, the one I met was called Supergirl, Superman’s cousin. However, the concept of Superman existed long before Superman himself," Barry Allen explained.
No wonder! No wonder last time he came to this universe, Cisco Ramon and the others thought he was Superman.
He had thought the CW universe also had Clark.
That would have been a disaster!
"Let’s end the small talk here. You guys keep fighting to the death with Zoom; I’m going to go sightseeing in this world." Lucas changed his clothes in a second.
His speed was currently at a superluminal state; exactly how fast, it could no longer be calculated with numbers.
But it was definitely faster than Barry Allen.
In later seasons, Barry Allen had entered lightning time, where one second was equivalent to one day. According to velocity formulas, that was only approaching the speed of light, not yet exceeding it.
The Barry Allen of this universe might not necessarily grow to become a being with 130,000 times the speed of light.
"Wait, don’t leave yet!" Barry Allen stopped Lucas.
"Although you can’t intervene, can you stay here and help us fight crime? In case I’m defeated by Zoom, can you take my place and protect this Earth?"
Lucas raised an eyebrow.
"Barry Allen, you won’t fail!" Cisco Ramon said.
Barry Allen said, "Everything has a ’what if.’ We need to keep a few trump cards. Even if Zoom kills me, he won’t get this Earth!"
Lucas thought about it carefully.
If Barry Allen was defeated by Zoom, the story line of this world would be changed, heading toward a bad ending. At that point, if he came to occupy this Earth, he wouldn’t be targeted.
After all, a bad ending is an incorrect timeline. It would always be discarded.
"Fine," Lucas agreed.
"Wait, you just agreed so easily? Didn’t you say you couldn’t interfere easily just now?" Cisco Ramon retorted.
"So you think The Flash will lose?" Lucas turned the question back on him.
Cisco Ramon was left speechless.
Caitlin Snow stood to the side, looking thoughtful.
"By the way, who has some money to lend me? I’m going to rent a place first; I might be staying for a long time." Lucas reached out his hand nonchalantly.
"L-lend money?" Barry Allen’s mouth twitched wildly.
This was the first time he had seen a superhero who needed to borrow money from him.
"You’re powerful to this extent, yet you still need to borrow money?" Caitlin Snow asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, I can’t rob a bank, right! Oh, wait, I can ask the bank to lend me some money!" Lucas suddenly realized something.
"Wait!!!" Barry Allen hurriedly stopped Lucas. "The borrowing money you’re talking about, it’s not just a regular loan, is it!"
"Loan? What kind of loan? If I weren’t a superhero, I probably wouldn’t be able to pay off my student loans in a lifetime. I’d never take out a loan in this life!" Lucas said.
No loan? That means robbing!
"I’ll lend it to you! I can even help you look for a house!" Barry Allen said immediately.
"That’s what you said. Let’s go, let’s go look for a house!" Lucas grabbed The Flash and instantly arrived at a coffee shop in Central City.
...
Three minutes later. Iris looked at Lucas, who was a head taller than her, with a confused expression.
"Who is he?" Barry Allen shook his head. "I don’t know, he should be a good person!"
"What do you mean ’should be a good person’?" Iris frowned.
Lucas picked his nose and tried to wipe it on Barry Allen, but Barry Allen dodged quickly.
"I’m going to have a word with him!" Iris glanced at Lucas and pulled Barry Allen aside.
"What the hell are you doing? This guy doesn’t look like a good guy at all; his arm is thicker than my thigh!" Iris lowered her voice and said.
"Ugh! It’s hard to explain. He almost slapped Zoom to death with one palm. He just looks a bit burly; he shouldn’t be a bad person!"
"Should?" Iris was skeptical.
"He should... be a good person, right?" Barry Allen was a bit uncertain.
