Chapter 165 The Illusory Image of Divine Speed
"Come on, Barry Allen! Let’s end this with our speed!"
"As long as the two of us run fast enough, this cannon will be able to charge up and completely tear apart the multidimensional space!"
"It is time to claim the entire world as our own!"
Barry took a deep breath. Without any hesitation, he instantly stood on the same starting line as Zoom.
"As you wish, Zoom!"
Boom!!!
In an instant, two bolts of lightning began to race wildly on the Ferris wheel.
Barry and Zoom pushed their speed to the limit. The sonic booms generated by their high-speed movement were like dense thunder, shaking the surrounding abandoned buildings until they collapsed.
Cisco Ramon hammered away at his portable computer, his face deathly pale: "Damn it! Damn it! Their speed is too fast! Once they complete five hundred laps, the Multidimensional Cannon will be fully charged. The residual shockwaves will instantly blast all parallel Earths, except for ours, into fragments!"
"Oh! GG! Think of all the beauties who will perish!"
Lucas felt a bit of regret.
Earth-2 still had Jesse Quick; she was a speedster and quite beautiful, too.
Caitlin Snow frowned slightly: "What time do you think it is? Your focus is still so strange!"
Lucas shrugged.
Rumble!!!
While they were talking, the charging indicator light soared to the very top. They had completed the five hundred laps in no time!
"Haha! Success! The Flash, you lost!" Zoom erupted in a maniacal roar.
The muzzle of the Multidimensional Cannon had already lit up with a blinding light capable of destroying the universe.
Just at this critical moment, while running at high speed, Barry suddenly split off a Time Remnant.
It was an identical Barry.
He rushed directly to the base of the Multidimensional Cannon, the core pulse source area, and began to run frantically in the opposite direction.
Meanwhile, Barry’s main body was engaged in the final battle with Zoom.
Lucas stared at the clone Barry. By pushing past his speed limit, the guy had forcibly created a massive magnetic field that was canceling out the destructive energy of the Multidimensional Cannon. However, Barry’s physical body could not withstand the toll of completely neutralizing it.
Ultimately, under everyone’s gaze, Barry’s Time Remnant began to collapse. His skin and flesh were decomposing and dissolving bit by bit until he completely vanished.
"No! Barry!"
In the end, the pulse created by the Time Remnant neutralized the Multidimensional Cannon’s energy.
That Time Remnant had willingly sacrificed himself.
"Damn it! You lunatic! You would rather kill yourself than let me succeed?!" Zoom struggled to stand up, his face twisted beneath his mask.
Barry was even more furious. He punched Zoom repeatedly. At that moment, Barry’s mind was filled with the deaths of Ronnie Raymond and his father, and even the Time Remnant from just a moment ago.
If it weren’t for Zoom, his loved ones would still be alive.
Barry raised his hand and began to vibrate it at a high frequency, preparing to deliver a fatal blow to Zoom.
Looking at the vibrating iron fist, Zoom was not afraid; instead, he laughed triumphantly: "Come on! Barry Allen! Kill me! The moment you land this punch, you will have completely broken your principles!"
"Admit it! You and I share the same origin story. We are the same kind of people; you are the outlier!"
"Embrace your true life!"
Barry stopped abruptly.
The killing intent in his eyes slowly faded, replaced by an extreme sense of calm.
"No, Zoom!"
Barry retracted his hand-blade and said in a deep voice: "I have already heard from Lucas what a true hell is. Compared to scum like you, the place he has been to is the real abyss."
"So... you are not worthy of being my hell, and I will absolutely not abandon the principles of justice I have always upheld because of trash like you."
Saying this, Barry sneered and took a few steps back.
Somewhere in the sky, a wormhole had opened up.
Every speedster could tell that the wormhole was the Speed Force.
"Instead of hoping for me, you had better worry about yourself. The Speed Force does not forgive those who disrupt it. The more you travel, the easier it is to be dealt with!"
Rip!!!
As soon as he finished speaking, a harsh, piercing screech echoed from the wormhole.
Time Wraiths lunged out from the Speed Force. They were the enforcers of the Speed Force, specializing in cleaning up speedsters who attempted to disrupt the timeline. Even Barry, who generated the Speed Force with every step he took, could not break the rules.
"No! Get away! Stay away from me!"
Amidst Zoom’s desperate screams, two Time Wraiths instantly pounced on him, frantically tearing at and devouring the Speed Force source within him.
In less than half a minute, Zoom’s dark suit turned black inch by inch under the corrosion of time energy. The flesh on his face quickly withered and rotted, and finally, he was forcibly transformed into Black Flash.
Black Flash was a slave to the Speed Force, possessing no independent consciousness, knowing only to blindly execute erasure orders.
If you disrupt the timeline, besides the Time Wraiths, Black Flash will also hunt you down.
Black Flash was eventually dragged into the Speed Force by the Time Wraiths.
Lucas watched the whole process, clicking his tongue in wonder.
Watching this stuff up close was even more shocking; it was more realistic than a 4D movie.
However.
Lucas suddenly noticed that at the very last moment before the Speed Force wormhole closed, in his superluminal dimensional vision, he saw a chaotic silhouette with an indistinct face deep within the mysterious wormhole.
It raised its head and, across countless space-time dimensions, eerily beckoned to him.
"Come here!"
That was the meaning conveyed by the chaotic silhouette.
Lucas shivered on the spot.
"Holy crap... Was that the self-awareness of the Speed Force? Why does it look like a ghost? It’s terrifying in the middle of the night!" Lucas swallowed hard.
Of course, he wouldn’t go into the Speed Force.
Although he felt that the entity might not have any malicious intent, the Speed Force was one of the fundamental forces of the universe. If it just grazed him, even if he could live until the heat death of the universe, he would instantly turn into an old man with a white beard.
"I originally thought there weren’t any powerful deities in the early stages of the CW universe, but I almost forgot—the Speed Force permeates every space-time and possesses a transcendent nature."
"From the end of time to the end of the universe, the Speed Force exists in every minute and every second."
"Tsk! I wonder if my Omega Effect can go toe-to-toe with the time effects of the Speed Force!"
Lucas asked himself, but doubted he could.
After all, this was its home turf; a powerful dragon does not bully the local snake.
In short, it was better to keep a low profile and not interfere with the main timeline. Being targeted by Time Wraiths was a small matter, but if he pissed off the Speed Force, that would be a big deal.
The will of the Speed Force felt a bit of regret. It seemed to notice Lucas’s resistance and did not force the issue.
The wormhole vibrated slightly in the void and then completely disappeared.
"Barry, did you see that just now? Deep in the wormhole... there seemed to be a rather abstract figure beckoning to me, like it was calling a soul!"
Barry was feeling quite exhausted at the moment. Hearing Lucas’s words, he looked puzzled: "A figure? What figure? There is nothing in the Speed Force except for Time Wraiths, is there?"
"Even if you could see something, it would be a manifestation of your own spirit and energy, not a real person."
"Fine, forget I said anything!" Lucas shook his head.
