The Boys: Viltrumite Evolution Panel

Chapter 114: Holy War, the Great Viltrumite Purge

Sponsored

Everything regarding The Boys side of things has been arranged.

Next, all that’s left is to wait for the Holy War.

Night.

Midtown Apartment.

Lucas was sleeping soundly with Annie in his left arm and Maeve beside him on his right; the three of them were fast asleep.

One could say it was a time of peace.

Just then, a system notification rang in Lucas’s mind.

[Holy War, about to begin.]

[Countdown: 60 seconds.]

Lucas’s sleepiness vanished instantly.

It’s here! It’s finally here!!

He didn’t disturb the two beside him, only slowly opening his eyes. He used a force field to open the freezer compartment on top of the refrigerator and casually grabbed two bottles of compound v.

One bottle each of temporary and permanent compound v.

Lucas wasn’t sure if these things could travel with him, but if he could bring them along, he would make a killing.

The technology of the invincible world could absolutely crush The Boys universe.

Take two bottles of the drug over there to improve it.

[Countdown: 3, 2, 1...]

[Holy War, start.]

The next instant.

Lucas felt himself being torn by an invisible, immense power.

The world spun around.

When Lucas regained his footing, the soft bed and the warm, fragrant bodies in his arms had all vanished.

He looked down.

He was still clutching the two bottles of compound v in his palm.

Nice!!

Lucas raised an eyebrow. "So, it really is possible to bring things over when traveling through dimensions; that means I can also successfully bring things from here back!"

This was an unexpected delight!

He looked up and scanned his surroundings.

Upon seeing this, he was completely dumbfounded.

He was surrounded by a dense crowd of people, a group of similarly tall and imposing... Viltrumites.

What the hell!

Where the hell did you bring me this time!!

Lucas could feel it.

Among these Viltrumites, many possessed extremely powerful auras. In every pair of eyes burned a near-fanatical rage, mixed with sorrow and grief.

And on his own body, without him knowing when, he had been outfitted in traditional Viltrumite battle armor.

On his chest and shoulders was prominently emblazoned a three-stripe emblem.

Where’s my V?

Lucas’s gaze crossed over the surging heads and looked toward the high-standing royal platform in the distance.

A figure, as burly as a deity, stood atop the royal platform, overlooking the vast ocean of countless Viltrumites gathered below.

Thragg!

The Great Regent of the Viltrum Empire!

"Will you also betray us one day?"

"I would never!"

"I don’t believe you!"

Just as Thragg finished speaking, he swung his hand, decapitating someone without warning.

"Pfft!"

A Viltrumite standing beside him didn’t even have time to scream before his entire head was severed by that palm strike and sent flying.

The headless corpse collapsed with a thud.

Killing the chicken to warn the monkey?

No!

That was the horn of war!!

It was also the beginning of the Great Purge!!!

Lucas realized immediately.

The timeline he had traveled to was the bloodiest and craziest era of the Viltrum Empire after the death of Emperor Argall...

The Great Purge!

After this war, at least half of the Viltrumites had died in the civil war.

(The history of Thragg launching the Great Purge is somewhat obscure.)

Thragg stood on the royal platform, overlooking the masses, his cold face devoid of any emotion.

"According to the law, I immediately assume the regency and take the position of Viltrumite Regent until Emperor Argall’s heir appears!"

"Now I am issuing my first order!"

"Find the weakness that led to this betrayal, and excise this tumor!"

"The Empire has no need for the weak."

As the words fell.

The whole world began to boil.

Billions of Viltrumites, upon this order, bared their fangs at each other without hesitation.

This was not a war!

This was a slaughter!

This was a race conducting a cruel selection of itself in the most extreme and bloody way.

Natural selection, survival of the fittest.

Only the strong deserve to stand until the end.

Thragg only wanted elites; the others were not worthy of living to enjoy the glory of the Empire. The weakness and redundancy within the Empire had to be completely excised.

Even if the cost was the lives of billions of fellow countrymen!

The sky was torn into fragments by countless streaks of light crisscrossing through it.

Screams! Roars! The sound of bones shattering... even the sound of flesh being pierced, all converged into a hellish symphony!!

Damn it, they are just a bunch of lunatics!!

Lucas stood in the center of the slaughterhouse, not even having grown a full beard yet.

At his age on Viltrum, he was equivalent to a young boy.

Especially a group of bearded, fierce-looking old Viltrumites who looked at him as if they were seeing the person who killed their father.

"Die!"

A pot-bellied, fat-faced Viltrumite was the first to target him.

That fat body exploded with astonishing speed at this moment.

He grinned, sneering, as one hand transformed into a sharp hand blade, slashing straight down at Lucas’s neck.

The palm wind was fierce, carrying a sharp sound of tearing through the air.

In his eyes, this was a one-hit kill.

How could an underage brat withstand his strike?

Lucas didn’t even look.

A bunch of lunatics who believe in social Darwinism!

Emperor Argall was assassinated, and instead of trying to find the traitor, these people started slaughtering their own kind!

He just slightly tilted his body, and the hand blade that could cut through steel brushed past his cheek, slashing into empty air.

Lucas clenched his fist tightly and then swung it out.

"Pfft!"

His fist easily pierced through the opponent’s chest, bursting out from the back, clutching a fresh, beating heart in his hand.

"A six-chambered heart?"

Lucas scanned it with his X-ray vision, "I thought you had six hearts. Who gave you the courage to attack me? Do you know who I am?"

The opponent looked astonished, eyes wide round, his pupils reflecting only Lucas’s calm face.

Lucas yanked his hand back.

The massive corpse collapsed backward like a puppet with cut strings.

He held the heart and squeezed it slightly.

Pop!

The entire heart was crushed into powder.

"The Great Purge, huh."

Lucas shook the blood off his hand, his mouth curling up.

"This is... such a pleasant surprise!"

He looked up at the high royal platform.

Thragg completely failed to notice Lucas, this outsider mixed among billions, who was not a local.

To Thragg, Lucas was just a nobody at this moment.

That Great Regent, after launching the Great Purge, turned and returned to that solemn royal hall, quietly waiting for the final result of this slaughter.

Lucas withdrew his gaze.

Very good!

No one noticed him!

All he had to do was temper himself to the fullest in this slaughterhouse.

And then... go compete for that imperial throne!

This golden toilet... ah no, golden throne, if you, Thragg, can sit on it, why can’t I, Lucas?

...

The Great Purge was a long slaughter.

It wouldn’t yield results in a single day.
