Chapter 253: Mana Bombs
Hundreds of kilometers away, within the Vorn Estate’s central observation chamber, Clara Fitzgerald watched the battle unfold through a crystalline projection. The image was crystal clear—every movement, every technique, every drop of blood rendered in perfect detail.
The high elders flanked her. Seven men and women whose combined authority oversaw all Shadow and Sword rankings within the family. Any sanctioned fight between ranked members fell under their jurisdiction. The outcomes directly affected positioning within the hierarchy.
"Elder Morvan, what do you think of this fight?" Clara asked without looking away from the projection.
Elder Morvan—a heavyset man with a gray beard and permanent scowl—crossed his arms. "Aldric wins. The cultivation gap is simply too large. Four stages is insurmountable at this level. I’ll bet five hundred thousand credits on Aldric completing his victory within thirty minutes."
"You’ll lose that bet," Elder Veyra said coolly. She was the youngest of the high elders, her dark hair untouched by age, her eyes sharp as knives. "I’ve seen the reports on this boy. He defeated Lucian De Vorn—a sword prodigy who hardly lost a single duel in eight years. He survived Cassius Draven, a prodigy talent from the Draven main family. Rank means nothing to him."
"Overestimating a child is more dangerous than underestimating him," another elder muttered.
"I’ll take that bet," Veyra said. "Five hundred thousand on Kael."
The remaining elders shifted uncomfortably. Most had already placed their wagers—overwhelmingly on Aldric. The logic was sound: four stages of cultivation difference, a decade more combat experience. The math was pretty simple.
But something about Kael Vorn made the math feel incomplete.
"Aldric hasn’t used his specialty yet," Elder Morvan pointed out. "His control over fire is legendary among the Shadows. Once he activates Inferno Core, the boy won’t be able to get close."
On the projection, the darkness receded. Aldric emerged twenty meters from where the realm had sealed, breathing hard, flames flickering weakly around his body.
Kael stepped out of the darkness, his silver-flecked gray eyes calm, calculating, utterly cold.
Kael’s mind raced—with analysis.
Unlike regular cultivators in the late Mana Heart realm who I could defeat easily, anyone from a powerful family like Cassian Draven or Aldric De Vorn operated on a completely different level.
They had access to techniques that regular cultivators couldn’t even dream of—techniques passed down through generations, refined over centuries, locked behind family vaults. They received combat training from childhood—systematic instruction from masters who had killed hundreds. And their souls had been conditioned from birth, exposed to killing intent and combat stress until such pressures became background noise rather than debilitating forces.
Some of them could fight above their cultivation base entirely.
Aldric was one of them.
Thunder God Technique: First Form — Thunder God Flash.
Kael’s nervous system synchronized with the speed of electrical signal transmission. His perception accelerated to match lightning-speed neural processing. Every movement Aldric made registered a fraction of a second earlier. Every strike became readable.
Kael attacked.
Lightning Body carried him forward, blades weaving patterns of death. Aldric met him with Pyre Chains spinning, fire and metal becoming a whirlwind of destruction. Their clash sent shockwaves rippling across the plain—boom, boom, BOOM—each impact harder than the last.
Aldric’s flames weren’t just offensive. They boosted every aspect of his combat—speed, power, reaction time. His chains moved faster than a Rank 7’s weapons had any right to move, each segment trailing fire that forced Kael to constantly adjust his approach.
Kael’s blades found gaps. Aldric’s chains sealed them. Lightning Fangs erupted from Kael’s position—Aldric deflected with a wall of flame, but two slipped through, burning his shoulder and thigh. Dark Slash carved trenches in the earth around Aldric’s feet—Pyre Chains intercepted with a cage of fire that absorbed the dark energy before it could reach him.
Quasar pushed Aldric back ten meters. Gravity manipulation made Kael’s strikes hit harder than they should—Aldric’s earth barriers cracked but held, buying him precious seconds to counterattack.
Schlick.
Aldric’s chain-whip caught Kael’s cheek. Blood welled from the thin cut.
CLANG.
Aldric’s blade found Kael’s hand. A shallow gash opened across his palm.
They broke apart, both breathing harder and bleeding.
Kael brought his blades together. Slaughter Intent flooded the black steel—not the full weight he could unleash, but enough. The edges began to shimmer with something beyond physical sharpness.
"Sky Rending Technique: Fourth Form — Void Split."
The horizontal plane of annihilation erupted outward—darkness, lightning, and gravity fused into a single devastating wave. The air itself split along its path, leaving a visible tear in reality that rushed toward Aldric.
Aldric’s eyes widened. Every instinct screamed danger.
"Gaia’s Embrace!"
Stone erupted from the ground—a cocoon. Earth magic compressed to its absolute limit, forming a spherical barrier that wrapped around Aldric completely. Runes flickered across its surface, channeling his mana into desperate reinforcement.
Void Split hit the barrier.
CRACK. CRACK. CRACK.
The cocoon held—barely. Hairline fractures appeared across its surface. But the defensive technique worked, absorbing the majority of the slash’s power.
The residue slipped through.
A line of red opened across Aldric’s chest—deep enough to see muscle, shallow enough to avoid fatal damage. Blood sprayed across the ruined earth.
Aldric staggered, hand clutching the wound. A healing pill disappeared between his lips—King Grade, dissolving instantly, stabilizing the injury before it could worsen.
Kael smirked. "Is that all you got?"
Aldric’s expression darkened. The smirk, the arrogance, the casual dismissal—it all reminded him of every main family child who had ever looked down on him. Twenty years of being inferior. Twenty years of watching them receive better training, better resources, better everything.
His frown deepened as his hand touched the storage ring on his finger.
Kael’s Thunder God Flash screamed warning.
Danger.
Aldric moved with blinding speed—flames erupting from his legs in a propulsion burst that closed the distance in an instant. The Pyre Chains spun, ready to strike—
But he didn’t strike.
A smirk spread across his face. "Hope you enjoy my gift."
Multiple orbs launched from his storage ring—dozens of them, floating in a spherical pattern around Kael’s position. Each one pulsed with compressed fire mana.
Kael sensed the danger instantly. His body moved to dodge—
Aldric reversed the flame propeller on his legs, launching himself backward, out of the orbs’ range—
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
The orbs detonated simultaneously. Fire and force merged into a single devastating sphere of destruction that consumed the space where Kael had been standing. The shockwave flattened grass for a hundred meters in every direction. Soldiers on both sides were thrown backward by the pressure.
On the projection in the observation chamber, the explosion bloomed like a flower of fire.
Every elder except Clara and Elder Veyra gasped.
Clara’s expression remained unchanged. Her cold eyes tracked the smoke, searching for any sign of movement.
