Chapter 591 - 587: The New Teacher Took Leave Again
The school.
It was Gu Jiaojiao’s third day of work.
The new teacher had taken leave again!
This time, the other teachers were fed up.
This new teacher was putting on way too many airs. Their school was already short-staffed; they wouldn’t have hired another teacher if they weren’t completely swamped.
But now that they had actually hired a new teacher...

In this day and age, you didn’t leave your post unless you were sick. What was the deal with this new teacher, skipping class every day?
Everyone went to the principal together to report the situation and demand an explanation.
The principal was so worried he felt like he was tearing his hair out.

But the school didn’t have enough desks. Many students had nothing to use, and some desks were wobbly, propped up with rocks underneath.
He needed money to have a new batch of desks made.
The principal submitted a funding application but heard nothing back. Only after he made several trips to their office did they finally relent.
The catch was, he had to take on a teacher they wanted to place.
What could the principal do? For the sake of the children’s desks and chairs, he could only agree.
However, since they went through with the hiring exam, he naturally had to take a look at the results.
He looked over the candidates’ exam papers and found them all to be rather average. It wasn’t until he saw Gu Jiaojiao’s that he was truly impressed. He immediately began filing applications, requesting to hire one more teacher.
How could the higher-ups possibly agree?
One more teacher meant one more salary and one more subsidy to pay.
But the principal was determined. He submitted three separate reports until the higher-ups, unable to do anything about him, finally gave in.
Now, he was grateful for his decision.
Otherwise, there would be a class right now with no one to teach it.
The principal had Gu Jiaojiao substitute for the class and, while he was at it, processed her conversion to a permanent employee.
He told her to focus on teaching and put her mind at ease.
Gu Jiaojiao didn’t mind either way. She was just a teaching assistant, after all—a spare hand to be moved wherever she was needed.

An Dongyang hadn’t gone to class. Instead, he had the leisure to wait for Xu Wenwan at a street corner.
