He?

Yang An froze when he heard how the Boundary Repairer named Huan addressed the other one.

He looked at the mask on He’s face—that ball of fire.

’The Earth Immortal Dao Sect has a Boundary Repairer named He Ming. Could that be him?’

His stare seemed to alert He, who immediately looked back at Yang An.

Yang An subconsciously looked away, but he felt a prickling on his back.

The feeling was strange, almost familiar.

"Huan, you struck first. Aren’t you afraid I’ll snatch your prey too?"

He withdrew his gaze and looked back at Huan.

But Huan just chuckled softly.

"If you have what it takes, then by all means, go ahead. Why bother asking me?"

"Fine!"

’The atmosphere feels off!’

Yang An keenly sensed it. Though both men were Boundary Repairers from the Earth Immortal Dao Sect, they clearly didn’t get along. Just a few words between them had been enough to create a hostile atmosphere.

’They’re not actually going to fight, are they?’

The thought sparked a sudden sense of anticipation in Yang An. Could this be his chance?

No sooner had the thought crossed his mind than a scorching wave of heat washed over him. A torrent of crimson flames erupted toward the heavens, bathing the world in a blood-red glow.

The flames erupted from He, who was now completely hidden within a sea of fire, as if he had transformed into a Fire God.

The fiery shockwave was nearly upon them, but an invisible wall stopped it just before it could touch Yang An and the little girl.

"He, are you serious?"

Huan didn’t sound surprised. On the contrary, his tone was mocking, as if he found it amusing that he had provoked He with a single sentence.

’So they’re really fighting!’

Yang An’s eyes lit up. ’This is my chance.’

But the next moment, a sharp pain shot through his chest, and he was sent flying backward, crashing to the ground.

A sharp spike, seemingly formed from congealed blood, had pierced through his body, pinning both him and the little girl to the ground.

Countless blood vessels sprouted from the spike and burrowed into the ground, anchoring him firmly in place. He couldn’t move a muscle.

’Damn it!’

"You two just wait there quietly."

Huan added before turning away.

The little girl beside him seemed to have lost consciousness, and Yang An couldn’t be bothered with her.

He tried to struggle, but with every slight movement, it felt as if the spike was sprouting countless new tendrils inside him, binding him even tighter.

He had no choice but to look toward the battlefield. Huan had vanished. In his place hovered a monstrous creature, its hundred-meter-wide wings unfurled in mid-air.

It had the head of a bird with a sharp beak and a red crest, but the body of a man. A single, enormous eye stared out from each of its great wings. It held a Magic Staff in its hand and radiated a terrifying, oppressive aura, like that of a Demon God.

On the other side, the crimson flames had formed a massive storm that seemed to reach the heavens, coalescing into a giant monster of its own.

The mere clash of their auras sent a series of explosions and sparks crackling through the air between them.

A roar erupted from within the flames, and countless fireballs split off, hurtling toward Huan’s monstrous form like a shower of burning meteors.

But Huan simply gave a flap of his wings. A ripple spread out from the two eyes on them, bizarrely wiping all the incoming fireballs from existence.

They had only just exchanged blows, yet the terrifying scene was already like something out of an apocalypse, striking fear into the heart.

Caught on the edge of the battle, Yang An was pinned and pierced by the spike. At the same time, however, the blood vessels that burrowed into the ground also formed a protective barrier above him, weakening the force of the shockwaves. As a result, he wasn’t significantly affected.

In a way, this meant Huan was looking out for them. If they died in the battle, he would likely be unable to answer for it.

This was especially true for Yang An; he was a World Body that wasn’t even recorded in the Daoist Sect’s official list.

Like a volcanic eruption, an immense dragon of fire suddenly burst from the earth. The ground trembled continuously as waves of flame swept out in all directions.

But no matter what attack was used, it seemed to be completely countered by the two eyes on Huan’s wings.

The fire dragon shot up from the ground and engulfed Huan’s body, only to vanish without a trace the very next moment.

Huan raised his Magic Staff and swung it fiercely at the endless waves of fire. A surge of power emanated from the staff, slicing the fiery tide in two.

But at that very moment, a mysterious flame erupted from within Huan’s body, carrying with it a thick mist of blood. The mist was like oil on a fire, causing the flames on Huan to burn even more violently, turning them into a viscous, dark red.

The flame wave that Huan had cleaved apart surged back together. A streak of fire, like a meteor in the night sky, instantly plunged into Huan’s massive body.

With a thunderous BOOM, two figures were simultaneously thrown from the explosion, landing hard on the ground. In that same instant, both the winged behemoth and the towering giant of flames disintegrated and vanished.

Huan and He stood facing each other, separated by a distance of several hundred meters.

It seemed the previous exchange had been too taxing, and with neither able to defeat the other, they had both stopped fighting in those forms and returned to their normal sizes.

"He! Do you still want to keep fighting? It would take us three days and three nights to settle this."
